Byju's Learning app delisted from Google Play Store

The Hindu28-05-2025

Beleaguered edtech firm Byju's learning app has been delisted from Google Play Store due to non-payment of dues to its vendor Amazon Web Services, according to sources.
AWS has been trying to resolve payment issues with Think and Learn, which operates under the Byju's brand, since April last year.
"BYJU's Learning app has been delisted from Playstore because of non-payment to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides support to the app. Byju's business is now being managed by an Insolvency Resolution Professional who has to manage all payment-related issues as well," a source told PTI.
An email sent to Think and Learn's Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) Shailendra Ajmera did not elicit any reply.
"Apps, which are being handled by other vendors, are functional as of now," sources aware of the development said.
Byju's Premium Learning app and Byju's Exam Prep app continue to be available on Google Play Store.
When contacted, an AWS spokesperson said, "AWS has been working with Think and Learn Private Limited since April 2024 to resolve its outstanding AWS account balance. We remain hopeful that this matter can be resolved. Separately, we are unable to comment on any actions taken by other technology providers with respect to the BYJU'S app".
Byju's Learning App covered mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology for classes 4-12 and social studies for classes 6–8 as well. The app also provides preparation support for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and IAS.
The app continues to be available on Apple's App Store.
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal has started insolvency proceedings against Byju's on appeal by various investors, including lender-authorised agency Glas Trust.

SK Group chairman calls for AI-led growth amid industrial revolution

Seoul: SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has called for a stronger focus on artificial intelligence (AI) as a new growth engine, urging the group to take a leading role in the AI-driven industrial revolution, the company said on Sunday. "The sustainable survival of companies depends on how they adapt to AI," Chey was quoted as saying during a recent groupwide business strategy meeting. "We should broaden our horizons by applying AI not only in information technology (IT) but also in areas such as electricity, energy and biotechnology." His remarks align with SK Group's long-term strategy to accelerate its "fourth quantum leap" by integrating AI into all aspects of business operations, spanning AI data centers, AI agents, robotics, manufacturing, energy and bio, reports Yonhap news agency. The group previously announced plans to invest 82 trillion won (US$59.7 billion) in AI and semiconductor sectors by 2030. As a first step, SK Group last week unveiled a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a hyperscale AI data center in Ulsan, about 305 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The facility is scheduled to begin operations by 2027 and is expected to create up to 78,000 direct and indirect jobs over time as it scales. The project reflects SK Group and AWS' joint commitment to advancing cloud infrastructure to support AI innovation, the company said. The project brought together key SK Group affiliates, including SK Telecom Co., SK hynix Inc. and SK Gas, combining the group's strengths in ICT, energy and semiconductors. The new data center is expected to enhance the group's capabilities to meet growing demand for generative AI through compute, storage, database and edge computing solutions. "Hyperscale AI data centers are core national assets that can strengthen our geopolitical position amid intensifying global tech competition and trade pressure," the group said. "Given that AI data centers typically operate for decades, this large-scale investment by a global tech giant underscores confidence in Korea's political and economic stability and long-term growth potential."

Meet Sachin Agrawal, brother of world's youngest female Chartered Accountant who topped CA finals exam at…, she holds Guinness World Record for…, her name is... Success in India's toughest exams—like JEE, NEET, UPSC CSE, CA, and SSC—is a journey that requires a combination of immense stress and great commitment. These exams not only test academic prowess but also test discipline, time management, and mental toughness. With lakhs of students sitting for exams every year, the path to success becomes narrower and narrower. More and more students want to clear the exam each year with the hope of success. But only a small number clear the first hurdle. As the process unfolds, the percentage drops significantly. At the end, only a handful have made it, and from there, just one candidate claims the All India Rank 1 title. In a world where passing challenging exams is a feat in its own right, only a few names pass the exams on the first attempt, while becoming stars in their own right. One of these incredible feats is the journey of Nandini Agrawal, an inspiring woman from Morena in Madhya Pradesh, who not only passed the Chartered Accountancy; she made history. At just 19, Nandini became the youngest female Chartered Accountant in the world. This is confirmed by the Guinness World Records. Nandini's inspiring journey is a huge reminder that age is no barrier to achieving greatness if you have focus, hard work, and a strong mindset. Born on October 18, 2001, Nandini Agrawal made history in 2021 by becoming ranked All India Rank 1 in the Chartered Accountancy (New) examination, a feat the India Book of Records recognizes. Nandini appeared for the final exam in July 2021, achieving the distinguished milestone at only 19 years, 8 months, and 18 days old. Nandini Agrawal's results were officially declared on November 29, 2021, and as such, she is not only one of the youngest Chartered Accountants but also one of the youngest to achieve All India Rank 1. Nandini Agrawal's story is the perfect example of how grit and concentration can help to break age-old records—quite literally. All India Rank 1 topper in the CA final exam at just 19 years old, Nandini scored a sensational total of 614 out of 800 marks. This achievement is made even more exciting as Nandini's older brother, 21-year-old Sachin Agrawal, passed the same exam, securing All India Rank 18. The sibling success story is a rare example of dedication to help one another succeed through the shared experience of working hard to achieve excellence in an academic environment. In 2021, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, also wished the remarkable siblings well. Taking to his official Twitter account, he wrote, 'Congratulations to the star siblings of Morena, Madhya Pradesh! Well done Nandini Agrawal for topping the all-India CA final exam and her brother Sachin Agrawal for securing the 18th rank. Best of luck for a bright future to both of you.' Their achievement was even more remarkable because the pandemic adversely affected the preparation of many other aspirants, gradually resulting in these dedicated siblings utilizing the time at home to study and revise for their exam. Nandini Agrawal completed her 11th and 12th grade studies in Victor Convent Higher Secondary School. She created history in 2021 by becoming the world's youngest female Chartered Accountant at the age of 19 years, obtaining All India Rank 1 in the CA Final examination by scoring 614 out of 800, which is 76.75%. When the previous results were declared, she was 19 years and 330 days old, which officially verified the Guinness World Record for being the youngest female Chartered Accountant. In a 2021 interview with The Indian Express, Sachin Agrawal, Nandini's brother, reflected on their journey together, saying, 'There were times when we fought like crazy but that only lasted for some time and we got back to normal. I would have been happy with even 70 per cent marks as I did not have high expectations but I knew that Nandini will do great. She's brilliant and deserves all the success. In many ways, she is my mentor.' Nandini and Sachin's father, Naresh Chandra Gupta, is a tax practitioner. Their mother, Dimple Gupta, is a homemaker. Nandini and Sachin attribute their success to consistent preparations and in their experience, encourage aspirants to be diligent with ICAI study material as it was key to their success in helping them to crack the exam as they have done. The statement on the official website of the India Book of Records reads,' The record for being the youngest Chartered Accountant was set by Nandini Agrawal (born on October 18, 2001) of Morena, Madhya Pradesh. She appeared for her final CA (New) examination in July 2021 and secured the 1st rank at the age of 19 years, 8 months and 18 days, as confirmed on November 29, 2021.'

Last Updated: Swiggy's Crew offers highly personalised services, including assistance with international driving permits, bespoke travel planning, and curated gift sourcing within budgets. Swiggy has entered the lifestyle and travel concierge space with the beta launch of a new app called Crew, aimed at catering to India's growing base of premium consumers. Currently available to select users on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, Crew is being developed under Swiggy's parent company, Bundl Technologies Pvt Ltd. The app offers highly personalised services, including assistance with international driving permits, bespoke travel planning, and curated gift sourcing within specific budgets. Crew is Swiggy's latest push to diversify its offerings beyond food delivery and marks its second known attempt to reach affluent users. Last year, Swiggy piloted Rare Life, a subscription-based premium concierge service that provided access to high-end experiences. While Rare Life never became a standalone app, Crew appears to be a more formal and structured initiative. On the B2B front, Swiggy also rolled out Assure, a procurement platform enabling restaurants to source kitchen and pantry supplies, directly competing with Zomato's Hyperpure.
