Dr Zaliha: JWP, agencies committed to implementing Kembara Diraja

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has directed the Department of Federal Territories (JWP) and all agencies under it to coordinate the implementation of the Kembara Diraja (Royal Tour), as decreed by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
In a statement on her Facebook page, she said the tour would provide an opportunity for His Majesty to personally engage with the people across the three Federal Territories and distribute zakat aid to those in need.
Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim announced that he would embark on the Kembara Diraja across the Federal Territories to observe the people's living conditions firsthand and distribute zakat to the poor and the eight eligible asnaf groups.
His Majesty made the remarks during the 2025 Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with his official birthday at Istana Negara yesterday.
Dr Zaliha said JWP also fully supports His Majesty's emphasis on the need for civil servants to uphold the principle of Loyalty to the King and Country, which aligns with the Harmoni work culture introduced in the Federal Territories as a foundation for good governance.
"As a policy-implementing body, JWP personnel will remain committed to enhancing the delivery of public services that are efficient, with integrity and people-oriented, in line with the spirit of Malaysia Madani," she said. – BERNAMA

On the proposal for trainee allowances, Dr Zaliha noted that while the government sector already provides such support, the call was to expand this to the private sector. 'Some private companies do provide allowances, but there's no clear policy. I intend to discuss this with Human Resources Minister Steven Sim for further consideration,' she added. She was speaking at a press conference after winding-up session of the three-day assembly, which began on June 21. A total of 15 resolutions were presented, covering areas such as the economy, social development, technology, and legislation. Asked whether the proposals would be brought to higher levels, including Cabinet discussions or the 2026 Budget planning, Dr Zaliha said all approved resolutions would be submitted to the Federal Territories Department (JWP) for follow-up. 'For matters beyond my portfolio under the Ministerial Functions Act 1969 (Amendment 2023), I will refer them to the Cabinet for consideration by the relevant ministers. 'JWP will also coordinate with the respective ministries to monitor the progress of these proposals, ensuring the efforts of the youth assembly members are not in vain,' she said.

PUTRAJAYA, June 23 — Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani has been appointed as the new Comptroller of the Royal Household, Istana Negara, effective July 1, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar. Shamsul Azri, in a statement today, said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has consented to the appointment of Azmi, 59, who has been the Johor State Secretary since January 1, 2017. 'Given his vast experience and credibility, I believe he will further strengthen the administration of Istana Negara and discharge his duties effectively as the Comptroller of the Royal Household in supporting and upholding the authority of His Majesty as the Head of State,' he said. Azmi holds a Bachelor's degree in Development Science (Economics and Management) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as well as a Master's degree in Human Resource Development and a PhD in Land Administration and Development from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. National Women's Policy 2025–2030 Aims To Empower Women, Strengthen Nation

GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- The third edition of the National Women's Policy (DWN) and Women's Development Action Plan (PTPW) 2025–2030 serves as a strategic guide to implement programmes, initiatives and collaborative efforts by all stakeholders. Women's Development Department (JPW) director-general Hanani Sapit said the renewed policy reflects the government's ongoing commitment under the Malaysia Madani framework to uphold and elevate the status of women, ensuring they continue to be respected, celebrated and recognised across sectors, both locally and globally. 'This policy, led by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, is not solely the responsibility of the ministry. It is a national-level policy involving federal and state governments, the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and civil society,' she said during an interview on Bernama TV's Apa Khabar Malaysia programme today. The updated policy focuses on four key areas, namely economy, leadership, safety and well-being. Implementation began immediately following its launch on March 8 in conjunction with International Women's Day. Hanani said that in drafting the policy, the government strengthened engagement with ministries, agencies and NGOs to ensure it is embedded at the grassroots levels. At the same time, JPW, through its State Women's Development Offices, will continue to intensify advocacy and literacy programmes in communities. The DWN and PTPW 2025–2030 aim to enable women to participate meaningfully and realise their full potential through inclusive development and gender equality. The slogan 'Empowering Women, Strengthening the Nation' was adopted to reflect the role of women as national assets, capable of shaping the country's economic growth, given that they make up nearly 50 per cent of Malaysia's population. The policy also emphasises the importance of shared leadership between men and women in national development, in line with the demographic ratio of 111 men for every 100 women. 'This inclusive approach is crucial to ensure that policy and programme development remains people-friendly and socially inclusive. Gender equality is not just a moral goal, but a critical driver of economic and social progress,' she added.
