Kerry Katona's heartbreaking advice to Freddy Brazier amid family feud
Kerry Katona is 16 years clean after being introduced to drugs by her mum as a teen - and has some well-meaning advice for Freddy Brazier after his rehab admission
Speaking exclusively to OK!, former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona – who has been drug-free for 16 years – says her own experiences and relationship with her mum have been on her mind a lot lately, because of Freddy Brazier - and she has issued the model, 20, with some stark but well-meaning warnings, given her own past experiences with drugs.
When she read about Freddy allegedly taking drugs with his gran, all these feelings and memories, she admits, came flooding back. 'I know he's admitted he has a problem with smoking. He's an adult and can make his own choices, but with drugs, it is a very, very slippery slope. I've seen it happen", she said.
The son of Jeff Brazier and the late Jade Goody, Freddy hit the headlines when he revealed that he wanted to check into rehab in Spain, after reportedly falling out with his dad and big brother. Freddy, whose Big Brother star mum Jade died of cervical cancer when he was just four, was recently photographed smoking what appeared to be a cannabis joint with his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden – a former drug addict.
This came amid rumours he had moved in with his nan in Bermondsey, defying his dad's legal efforts to keep them apart. But after claiming he wanted to go to rehab, he made a U-turn days later, saying he just needed a 'holiday'. Freddy also said, 'I want to be happy, be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my nana and my father.
Frmer Atomic Kitten Kerry, however, thinks rehab is the right choice: 'I commend him for wanting to go to rehab. You can explore your emotions and work out what's really going on. It'll open your eyes and be one of the best things you ever do. You'll meet inspiring, supportive people. I understand that he just wants to be his own person, but relationships are easily broken and hard to repair – and we never know what tomorrow might bring.
'Freddy's lovely mum Jade was taken way before her time and I'm sure that hurts. My advice would be to treasure his relationship with his dad, who adores him. Life can be tough, but drugs are never the way to deal with difficult emotions. In a split second, you're given a choice – and that choice can f**k everything up.'
Opening up on her own complicated relationship with her mother, Sue, Kerry confessed: "I love my mum to bits – but it's complicated. She gave me drugs when I was 14. She was my mum, so I thought it was normal. But that's a very unhealthy co-dependency."
Later progressing to cocaine, she recalled sadly: 'It was the only friend I had, the only thing that was always there for me,' she admits. 'I've overdosed twice on cocaine. Once at my mum's house, then at home in Wilmslow with Mark. I fitted and was frothing at the mouth. When I came to, Mark was screaming, but I felt on another plane. I felt so loved in that experience that I tried immediately to go to that place again, and took a line of cocaine straight away.'
And she has strong advice to Freddy: 'I know you love both your nan and your dad to bits. Focus on that love, and get to rehab. It's not a magic wand, but you can start learning new ways to cope with what life throws at you. Above all, I'd like him to know that there is life beyond drugs.'

EXCLUSIVE Kerry Katona stole MY boyfriend! Woman claims singer's lover promised to marry her and lied about going on Celebs Go Dating
A woman has claimed she was dating Kerry Katona 's new boyfriend before he went on Celebs Go Dating where he met the singer. Kerry, 44, went public with Paolo Margaglione, 33, last week, passionately kissing and holding hands with the personal trainer, who's 10 years her junior. But Kerry's new romance, her first public relationship since splitting from ex-fiancé Ryan Mahoney last November, has been thrown into doubt amid claims Paolo is only interested in 'fame' and growing his public profile. Paolo's former girlfriend claims that she was dating him when he went on the E4 show and has accused him of two-timing her with the Atomic Kitten star. Jessica Smith, 25, says father-of-two Paolo didn't tell her he was going on the series - and only went on because he wants to further his career. Heartbroken Jessica, a warehouse manager from Holmfirth, Yorkshire, told MailOnline: 'I do not believe that he has one single feeling for Kerry, he only cares about fame.' She even says Paolo had planned to fly her to Ibiza, where he claimed to be on holiday but was in fact with Kerry filming Celebs Go Dating and that his regular trips to London, where the agency is based, was for 'business.' Speaking exclusively, Jessica said: 'I do not believe that he has one single feeling for Kerry, he only cares about fame, and he'll be happy he's now being put out there. 'I back the fact 100 per cent that he has not go on Celebs Go Dating to find love. He lied to me the entire time we were together. It was horrendous. 'This has all massively taken me by surprise. The articles say they filmed Celebs Go Dating in Ibiza, and he told me he was going there for three weeks, he was trying to make me book a flight to meet him out there. 'He said he was there for a stag do and flying his children out the second week and the third week he would be free to see me. But now I know none of that was happening and he was filming a dating show out there. 'Every time he went to London, he told me it was for a business meeting. He would even send me pictures... but he was filming Celebs Go Dating. Every single thing was an act. I feel like I was completely led the entire time.' Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry stars in the upcoming series of Celebs Go Dating, her second time as a cast member after she first appeared on the show in 2019. Kerry, who's been married three times, ended her six-year relationship with former fiancé Ryan over a 'breach of trust' last November. But now as she embarks on a new romance, Kerry allegedly needs to be weary of Paolo's intentions, as his ex claims he even admitted to only taking part on Celebs Go Dating for 'fame.' Jessica said: 'He told me that he filmed for a dating show a 'long time ago' and it was 'nothing for me to worry about.' He told me that 'it's nothing to do with love and it's only for the fame.' He said, 'I promise you, everyone goes on the show for fame and I'm just doing the same.' The warehouse manager explained how she and Paolo met after he messaged her out of the blue on Instagram and they started dating, spending time together as he wined and dined her and she regularly stayed at his house. Paolo told Jessica he had split from the mother of his two daughters over a year ago and they remain close for their young family. As far as Jessica was concerned, she and Paolo were committed to each other and he filmed Celebs Go Dating, which casts non-famous individuals to date celebrities as they seek advice from relationship experts, behind her back. Paolo, who said he would 'marry' Jessica if given the chance, was exchanging loved-up messages with her during the days he was filming Celebs Go Dating in late April and early May. Jessica said he eventually admitted to filming the programme, which also stars Love Island's Olivia Hawkins and The Chase's Mark Labbett this series, leaving her in floods of tears. She said: 'I asked him, do you expect me to sit at home and watch this and still be with you and he replied: 'I hope you will do that but it's completely down to you.' I hysterically cried all day at work, everything was a lie.' Kerry was previously married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, who she shares daughters Molly, 23, and Lilly-Sue, 22, with, before they divorced in 2006. The former I'm A Celebrity winner wed taxi driver Mark Croft in 2007 after a whirlwind romance and the exes have children Heidi, 18, and Maxwell, 16, together. She was married to her third husband, George Kay from 2014 to 2017, two years before he died aged 39 from a fatal seizure after 'biting into a ball of cocaine.' Kerry, who's also a mother to daughter Dylan-Jorge, 11, from her marriage to George, has spoken in depth about the couple's former relationship and how she endured terrible abuse during their time together. Speaking on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, she sobbed: 'He was really abusive… My children heard the shouting, they saw the black eyes.' The ex-singer starred in girl group Atomic Kitten between 1998-2001, years before love rival Jessica was born. And Jessica says she felt reassured after seeing new photos of Paolo kissing Kerry, who at 19 years her senior, she doesn't consider a threat. She said: 'I haven't spoken to Paolo since he's gone public with Kerry... at first, I felt absolutely awful but then I thought, thank God it's not some skinny, pretty model. I genuinely don't think she's a pretty woman, so I felt better in that sense.' Paolo told MailOnline: 'I was never in a relationship with Jess. We only met up around five times. 'I was honest with her that I had been offered to go on a dating show and if it were to come fruition, I would take the opportunity. 'I made it clear to Jess that we had to stop talking and seeing each other as I had been offered to go on the show. I have nothing bad to say about Jess she's a great girl.'

This Morning star suffers ankle injury as live show segment goes wrong
This Morning star Kate Lawler suffered a painful injury while on the show as the Big Brother winner told viewers about the latest competition on the ITV programme This Morning's Kate Lawler found herself in a bit of a pickle on live TV as she suffered an embarrassing fall from a hammock. Engaging with ITV viewers about the latest prize draw, the former Big Brother champ wished them "good luck indeed" before her attempt to lounge on the hammock went awry. Kate tumbled off unexpectedly as she tried to settle down, but carried on chatting to the camera regardless. She optimistically declared "what a better way to enjoy the sunshine" whilst attempting to hoist herself back up, but struggled to reclaim her spot. The footage shows Kate eventually mastering the hammock just as she gleefully exclaims "I did it". However, she then confessed that she had actually "really hurt" her ankle and requested an espresso martini from a crew member. In the backdrop, co-hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard could be heard chuckling as they witnessed Kate's calamity. In related news, it wasn't long ago that Kate revealed she'd broken a garden rule during a disagreement involving her neighbour's shed. The 45-year-old appealed to Instagram fans for counsel after opting to paint the rear of a "garish blue" shed black. According to Kate, her action sparked outrage from her neighbour despite Kate being the only one with a view of the garden structure, reports the Mirror. Kate quipped: "Why do I always get myself in these situations? I'm in trouble with my neighbour for painting the back of their bright blue, garish, shed a different colour. "Won't be doing it again as in hindsight I know I should have asked first, but I didn't think it would be a big deal given that they can't see it?". She continued by querying her followers if she was truly an "a******e" and whether she "needed to buy flowers". Kate added: "It has made me wonder though... Would you be annoyed if you discovered the back of your shed (which you couldn't see) had been painted by the neighbour whose garden backed on to yours? "Have you had a similar fall out with your neighbour? Basically, am I a******e and should I buy them flowers and a box of milk tray to apologise?" Responding to her tale, Lisa Snowdon, Kate's co-star from This Morning, responded with: "Oops" and included a see-no-evil emoji. One person said: "Honestly .. you should have asked and she should have said yes" whilst another chimed in with light-heartedness: "Id love it! ..you're the famous Kate Lawler! That's like having a Banksy on your shed." Kate shot to stardom back in 2002 following her stint on Big Brother, where she triumphantly emerged as the series winner. She has often expressed gratitude for submitting her application for the show, which paved the way for her career successes. Post her Big Brother victory, Kate has forged a path as a television host, frequently gracing the set of This Morning.
