Delhi aims for a drug-free city by 2027
New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Special Crime Branch of Delhi Police, led by Special CP Devesh Chandra Srivastava, is working towards making Delhi drug-free by 2027, as envisioned by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Srivastava emphasised that the fight against drug abuse requires a collaborative effort from the public, education, health, and drug control departments, and law enforcement agencies.
The Delhi government's initiative to make the city drug-free by 2027 is a significant step towards addressing the issue of drug abuse and promoting a healthier society.
Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Devesh Chandra Srivastava said, 'The fight against drug abuse is not that of the police alone. We need the cooperation of the public as well as all departments like education, health and drug control department. We are all fighting against drug abuse together. The Lieutenant Governor has given us the vision of a drug-free Delhi by 2027. Meaningful efforts are being made for this...The Chief Minister also participated in today's program and assured that the Delhi government and Delhi Police will work together against this evil.'
The Delhi government and Delhi Police are working together to tackle drug abuse, with the Chief Minister assuring support for the initiative. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and involve the public in the effort to create a drug-free society.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora also attended the program, which was held at Kartavya Path in the National capital to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
She assured that the Delhi government and Delhi Police will work together against this evil.
Last month, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested five individuals and dismantled a drug syndicate operating in the North Campus area of Delhi University, officials said.
According to officials, the accused were found in possession of 2,360 Tramadol-based capsules and 135 bottles of codeine-based syrup--both banned for non-prescription use, valued at over Rs 1 lakh in the international market.
DCP, ANTF Crime Apoorva Gupta stated that the action is part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign under the Government of India's 'Zero Tolerance' policy and the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.'
Acting on a tip-off, ANTF officials arrested Manish Bhatle (26), who was found carrying two sacks containing illegal drugs near Shri Ram Institute, University Road. He failed to produce any medical prescriptions or purchase invoices and was taken into custody on the spot. A drug inspector from the Drug Control Department confirmed the recovered substances were prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said. (ANI)

According to the bulletin, pro-Iranian hackers and cyber actors aligned with the Iranian government are likely to conduct low-level cyberattacks against US systems and internet-connected devices. The advisory flags concerns about homegrown 'violent extremists' who may be inspired to act in response to global events, particularly if Iran's leadership issues religious calls for retaliatory violence. Recent US-based attacks fueled by anti-Semitic or anti-Israel sentiment could be precursors to more incidents, DHS warned. It further went on to note that militant groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine have also issued statements calling for 'violence against US assets', potentially encouraging attacks on Jewish, pro-Israel, or US government targets. Four arrested for robbing businessman of Rs 50 lakh in Mumbai
MUMBAI: The LT Marg Police have cracked the Rs 50 lakh robbery near Crawford Market in south Mumbai and have arrested four persons who at gunpoint had robbed a businessman. Acting swiftly on specific information, officers from the Crime Branch and LT Marg police station apprehended the suspects and recovered the stolen cash, firearms, and incriminating items used in the heist. The robbery took place on Saturday, when the victim, a businessman dealing in precious metals, was intercepted near Crawford Market by two men who posed as law enforcement officers. They forcibly boarded his car, brandished weapons, and assaulted him before snatching a bag containing the money. The suspects then fled in a car with a false number plate. Based on CCTV footage, mobile tracking, and local informants, the police identified the accused as Javed Salim Lakhani (22), Sameer Damodar Jadhav (28), Sagar Damodar Jadhav, and Vikas Shankar Bane. All four were arrested in a coordinated operation and produced before the Esplanade Court. During interrogation, police recovered 10 country-made pistols, multiple live cartridges, Rs 28.16 lakh in cash, and clothing and accessories used to impersonate officials. The car used in the crime has also been seized.

Newlywed woman, mother suspected of conspiring to kill husband, lover absconding
A 32-year-old land surveyor was found murdered in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, and his newlywed wife, and her mother, were taken into custody for allegedly conspiring his murder with a third man: a bank employee who is now on the run.A resident of Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana, Tejeshwar was reported missing on June 17, a month after his wedding to Aishwarya. His body, bearing knife injuries and a slit throat, was discovered the same day in Sugalimettu, within Panyam mandal, about 30-40 km east of Kurnool city in Andhra said he was lured under the pretext of conducting a land survey, murdered in a moving vehicle, after which his body was dumped. The case has sparked shock across the state for its disturbing twists: Tejeshwar's family alleges both his wife Aishwarya and her mother Sujata were romantically involved with the same man, a Kurnool-based bank employee, who is also a prime suspect and believed to have hired contract killers to murder to sources, the wedding between Aishwarya and Tejeshwar took place on May 18, 2025, just three months after their engagement. But days before her engagement, Aishwarya went missing, allegedly eloping with the bank employee. She returned after a few days, claiming she had only visited a friend due to family pressure over dowry. Despite initial hesitation, the wedding went Tejeshwar grew suspicious soon after. Tejeshwar's family said he noticed Aishwarya frequently talking on the phone and distancing herself emotionally. Call data records later showed over 2,000 calls between Aishwarya and the bank employee even after the close to the investigation suspect the murder was motivated by Tejeshwar's property and assets, and his objections to his wife's continued affair. His family alleges that the bank employee arranged for hired killers and even sent his own driver with them. The killers pretended to need a land survey for 10 acres, took Tejeshwar in a vehicle, and murdered him en Aishwarya and Sujata have reportedly confessed to their role in the conspiracy during interrogation.
