Those who love solving puzzles will enjoy this cerebral crime thriller, which has become Disney+'s most-viewed South Korean title globally in 2025 – just nine days after the show's May 21 premiere.
Kim Da-mi is Yoon E-na, a kooky crime profiler on the trail of a serial killer who leaves behind puzzle pieces at the crime scenes. Joining her in the cat-and-mouse game is Son Suk-ku's cynical detective Kim Han-saem. They may butt heads, but both are determined to catch the potential mastermind behind a decade-old cold murder case.
If bingeing on Nine Puzzles is not enough, viewers can try their hand at solving crimes inspired by the series at the Nine Puzzles: Decoded interactive escape room experience.

Our Unwritten Seoul

With only four episodes in since its debut on May 24, Our Unwritten Seoul has already claimed the third spot on Netflix's global top 10 non-English shows chart.
In the coming-of-age K-drama, South Korean actress Park Bo-young plays identical twins Yu Mi-ji and Yu Mi-jae, who happen to be polar opposites.
Portraying two unique characters is already a challenge. Yet, the premise sees the sisters swopping identities, so Park is technically tasked to bring four distinctive personas to life.
Elder twin Mi-jae works in a government agency in Seoul. Eager to please and always striving to be the best, the submissive woman falls from grace after a workplace incident and becomes a victim of office bullying.
Meanwhile, bubbly and assertive Mi-ji lives in the countryside with their single mother and ailing grandmother. The over-achieving Mi-jae is favoured over the aimless Mi-ji, but the younger twin is the quiet pillar of strength in the family.
Our Unwritten Seoul also stars K-idol Jinyoung from boy band Got7 as the twins' neighbour and Mi-ji's love interest. The 12-episode series about finding oneself is a slow-burner, and it works purely because of Park's versatile performance.

Oscar-winning South Korean director Bong Joon-ho praised Lost In Starlight as 'a visual masterpiece that takes you around the universe' in a statement accompanying the film's global release on May 30.
Lost In Starlight is Netflix's first South Korean animation, and features the voices of award-winning actress Kim Tae-ri as Nan-young and actor Hong Kyung as Jay. Incidentally, both Kim and Hong first starred together in the acclaimed K-horror series Revenant (2023).

Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21 with little fanfare as fans looked forward to his reunion with the rest of the band, a K-pop sensation since it started up in 2013. 'We confirm that Suga effectively completed his alternative service on June 18 by using his remaining leave. His official discharge date is June 21,' BTS' label, Big Hit Music, said in a statement. Unlike with his BTS bandmates, there was no public event planned to mark Suga's release because of overcrowding concerns. The seven members of the group put their global music careers on hold in 2022 to begin their military service, starting with Jin in December that year. South Korea's mandatory national service can be for terms of up to 18 months. Shortly after his official discharge, Suga posted a message on fan community platform Weverse, saying he was 'sorry for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year', and also apologising to his bandmates. In 2024, Suga was fined 15 million won (S$14,037) by a court for drunk driving while on an electric scooter. The group is expected to hold its largest-ever world tour in 2026, an NH Securities entertainment analyst said in a report. Entertainment group HYBE, which manages BTS, is closely monitored by securities companies. Details of a reunion have not been released. Seoul High Court rules NewJeans must honour contracts with Ador, Entertainment News
NewJeans have had their request for an appeal to be freed of their contract with record label Ador rejected. Seoul High Court ruled on Tuesday (June 17) that the K-pop girl group — comprising Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein — must honour their contracts with Ador and not embark on solo endeavours as they could be penalised for doing so. Commenting on the decision, Ador said in a statement: "We sincerely appreciate the court's decision. We hope that this ruling will serve as an opportunity for the members to return to their rightful place as NewJeans and resume their activities. As they approach their third debut anniversary next month, Ador is committed to providing full support for the artists' further growth and success." The K-pop label had suggested the girls inking independent deals could "destabilise" the South Korean music sector. Ador — which is part of the Hybe group — said: "This decision was made to prevent confusion and potential harm to third parties, including advertisers. "Allowing unilateral terminations of exclusive contracts and independent activities without legal procedures could undermine investment in the entertainment industry and destabilise the K-pop sector." In September, NewJeans accused Ador of bullying, harassment and subterfuge, and two months later, they requested their contract be terminated. However, South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labour dismissed the harassment claims. The girls held an emergency press conference to announce their exit from Ador and warned the agency they would terminate their contract if they did not rectify breaches of their contract. In response, Ador said: "We regret that the press conference regarding the termination of the exclusive contract was planned and conducted without sufficient review, prior to receiving a response to the legal notice." Ador then filed a lawsuit against NewJeans to "clarify" that their contract "cannot be unilaterally terminated" based on their claims. The label said: "It was necessary to clarify to both the artist and all relevant stakeholders that our exclusive contract cannot be unilaterally terminated based solely on the claims from one side." Ador added: "We believe it is important to clarify any misunderstanding that the exclusive contract with the artist has been lawfully terminated, as this could lead to the artist engaging in entertainment activities in violation of the existing agreement."
