Andrew Lloyd Webber shares safety fears over Rachel Zegler's Evita stunt

Andrew Lloyd Webber has weighed in on the row surrounding Rachel Zegler's balcony performance in Evita.
The Hollywood star is currently starring as Eva Perón in Jamie Lloyd's new production of Evita at the London Palladium, but one of the most iconic scenes of the show has sparked controversy.
A highlight of the musical – which is based on the real life of the Argentine political leader Eva, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón – sees Eva sing Don't Cry For Me Argentina as she addresses the crowds from the balcony of the Casa Rosada.
In this version of Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's show, Zegler has been belting out the ballad on a balcony outside the Palladium, with theatregoers inside watching on a screen.
Now, theatre icon Lloyd Webber has addressed the drama, and admitted he has some concerns about the backlash rather than the artistic choice itself.
'Rachel Zelger is absolutely amazing in it. I'm only a little bit worried that it might get out of hand,' he said on Friday's Good Morning Britain.
'The crowds now turning up outside the Palladium, now the audience in the theatre sees the crowd outside, and it's kinda like the real deal,' he added.
Fans have pointed out that Jamie Lloyd's production choice actually mirrors Eva's kinship with the poor people in Argentina.
With so many people gathering each night now to catch the unique West End moment, Lloyd Webber is worried that there could come a point where they need to stop.
He said: 'But, I don't know, you just hope it doesn't become such a big thing that we're not allowed to do it.'

The balcony stunt has caused uproar among some attendees, who have expressed how 'disappointed' they would be after paying to see the show, only to not actually see one of Evita's pivotal scenes in the flesh.
Theatrewithmaila wrote on Instagram: 'So excited to see her, but not sure how I feel about paying £££ and one of the most iconic songs performed isnt even on stage. (sic)'
Others said they were 'very unimpressed' and 'fuming' by the decision, arguing that Zegler wouldn't receive 'her biggest applause' from the audience because of it.
However, some people pointed out the decision was a smart move given the nature of the show.

Meanwhile, Metro's music expert Danni Scott got a first hand experience of the balcony performance and admitted it changed her mind.
'As a child, I only saw one West End show; had that been this production of Evita, I'd have been devastated to miss out on the big number,' she wrote.
'However, having seen Rachel perform Don't Cry For Me Argentina on the balcony of the London Palladium, my feelings have changed. I realised it was exactly people in my position growing up that she was singing for.'

Emmerdale's Cain broken and bereft as more sad news hits the Dingles
As if he hasn't got enough going on, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) received even more bad news in tonight's episode of Emmerdale. After learning that Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) had been killed and thrown in a lake, Cain has tried to process his grief, but he's been regularly interrupted by Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh). Following the fight Cain and Nate had before he died, Tracy has now decided Cain killed his own son, and won't give the theory up. Yesterday, Cain arrived in the shop to speak with Tracy about Nate's funeral. He wanted to know what her plans were, but she said they involved not inviting him to the event. Cain was devastated. He tried to make himself feel better by judging Eric's (Chris Chittell) relationship with his own son, but the shop owner hit back and said that his son is alive, unlike Cain's. Eric knew that Cain was lashing out because he couldn't deal with the fact Nate died hating him. The comments made Cain tearful, it was obvious that Eric was right. Cain found solace in a bottle of Zak's homemade whisky, but then drank even more courtesy of John (Oliver Farnworth). He was looking for a high and needed to save someone, so he forced Cain to drink so much he passed out. Moira (Natalie J Robb) returned home just as John was putting Cain in the recovery position. He set him up with a drip, and told Moira that Cain just needs rest. Cain didn't leave the sofa in tonight's episode as he dealt with a hellish hangover. As a result, he got Sarah (Katie Hill) to sort the work that needed doing at the garage. When Charity (Emma Atkins) found out, she was annoyed at Cain. Charity now knows that Sarah has cancer, and knew she should be resting rather than doing her job. More Trending Charity marched over to Butlers and told Cain that Sarah wouldn't be at work for the foreseeable. He obviously wanted to know why and eventually, Charity revealed to him and Moira that Sarah has cancer…despite telling her granddaughter that she wouldn't tell them. 'One of the best horror films' is finally coming to Amazon Prime next week

Nosferatu was released last year, with Bill Skarsgård leading a star-studded cast alongside Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Director Robert Eggers put his own stamp on the Dracula-inspired Gothic tale, following a young woman tortured by a psychic connection to an evil vampire. The scare-fest made a huge splash when it hit the big screen a few months ago, and was branded 'chilling', 'hauntingly beautiful' and 'downright evil' by cinemagoers. It raked more than $181million at the global box office and earned four Oscar nominations for best cinematography, best costume design, best production design and best hair and makeup styling. The film will now be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from June 27, just in case fans missed it in cinemas, or want another excuse to be terrified. Nosferatu currently commands an impressive critics Rotten Tomatoes score of 84%, compared to an audience ranking of 73%. Jonathan M praised: 'The new Nosferatu was fantastic – beautifully dark atmosphere and amazing performances all around. It stayed true to the spirit of the classic while adding some fresh twists that kept things interesting. 'A couple of scenes felt slightly long, but overall, it's one of the best horror films I've seen lately.' Tyler F said: 'A horror absolute must see. You cannot unsee this movie. It's one of those ones that sticks with you.' 'The best Dracula-related film ever made. Proper Gothic treatment of the film. Eggers has created a masterpiece that will continue to inspire future generations,' Darko J agreed. Ronald M commented: 'A horror movie that focuses more on psychological and atmospheric creepiness than gore and jump scares. A very enjoyable reimagining of the almost-lost classic and a welcome deviation from the usual Dracula story. 'Excellent make-up effects on Count Olaf, and even better sound design that makes the bloodsucking sound so visceral and violent.' Jacob M added: 'This film is underrated. The gradual introduction of Count Orlok. The attention shifted between characters. It's captivating. Darkness at its finest. A masterpiece.' The official synopsis simply reads: 'Robert Eggers' Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.' However, unpacking his experience on set, Nicholas – who played Thomas Hutter – revealed that the scares weren't just saved for the screen, as he had a terrifying moment on set with his animal co-stars. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, he was questioned on whether he was 'actually freaked out' during filming, and recalled the 'rules' he was given when meeting the Czech Shepherds playing the 'wolves'. 'They were Czech Shepherds, so they weren't wolves but part-wolf. When we met them with the animal handlers, they were like, 'Oh, they're just like dogs,'' he said. 'When we got to set, there was a moment before that scene where I'm running on the spot, trying to get my heart rate up. 'The wolves – it sent them crazy. They'd been told to chase me and then they saw me getting myself fired up, and they were barking, being held back on these leashes. I was like, 'Whoa! Whoooooaaa.' More Trending 'And there was one time doing that shot where I was running – they'd be like, 'Okay, three-two-one, action,' and I would go on three, and [the wolves] would be released on one – and there was one time where I slipped, trying to get out of the window. 'I was like, 'Well, I know these wolves have been released, and I know they're chasing me, but I never asked, like… 'What are they trained to do if they do get to me? What's the end goal here, what if I don't make it out the window??'' 'I remember after that take, [David] being like, 'You pulled a weird face, we can't use that.' That was real!
