We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals and are now less than 14 weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 97 days away.
As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals.
Who has worn No. 97?

No. 97 is the current number of their top draft pick in 2025, DL Walter Nolen.
DL Walter Nolen III (2025-?)
DL Naquan Jones (2024)
OLB Cam Thomas (2022-2023)
DL Jordan Phillips (2021-2022)
DL Zach Allen (2019)
DL Ifeadi Odenigbo (2018)
DL Josh Mauro (2015-2017)
OLB Lorenzo Alexander (2013-2014)
DL Bryan Robinson (2010-2012)

DL Simeon Rice (1997-2000)
DL Chris Maumalanga (1995-1996)
LB Steve Hyche (1991-1993)
Simeon Rice was the very best of them. Pace was solid but better after he left in free agency. Can Nolen become the best? We will see in the years to come, and whether or not he keeps No. 97.

Arizona Cardinals OL Kelvin Beachum says team must find a way to make playoffs in 2025
Kelvin Beachum says there is no room for excuses for the Cardinals in 2025. They have the talent and now have to perform. Entering the 2025 season, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves in a critical moment. Head coach Jonathan Gannon led a competitive and scrappy four-win team in 2023. In 2024, after being atop the NFC West last in the season, they faded and finished with an eight-win season. This is the year they should take the next step and make the postseason. Fans feel it is the year. Coaches feel it is the year. Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, entering his 14th NFL season and sixth with the Cardinals, didn't shy away from the topic. Appearing on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM during minicamp, he didn't shy away from what many would be afraid to say, calling it "the elephant in the room." "We've got to get things done here this year, and that's just the nature of the NFL," he said. "This is a performance-based business. This is year three of this regime. Playoffs are long overdue in some regards, and we gotta find a way." Beachum said it is something players need to be on board about. "You've got to talk about it, he said. "You can't be like, 'oh, we don't have this piece. We don't have this piece. We lack in here.' No, no, it is time out for all those things. "What is important is putting ourselves in a position to clock a ticket to be in the dance and then see what happens from there." He believes the Cardinals have the team to be able to do that this year, and he praised what general manager Monti Ossenfort did in the offseason, calling it "a superb job." "What about the offensive line? That box is checked. Well, what about the quarterback? Box is checked. What about the running back? Box is checked. Receivers, box is checked. DBs, box is checked. And then you spent a ton of money on the defensive line, and you drafted defensive line and you drafted corners. So like, what are we talking about?" He said the Cardinals can't use excuses for potential needs, whether it is at linebacker or a "somebody to take the top off" at receiver. "We've got to find a way to get it done. We've got to find a way to put ourselves in playoff contention." Beachum understands the urgency the team must have. He is entering his 14th season. He doesn't know how many seasons he has left. Will the Cardinals be up for the task? We will see early on how focused they are when the season begins. Cardinals Nolan Arenado Joins Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt in Historic Club
Cardinals Nolan Arenado Joins Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt in Historic Club originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Entering Thursday, only six players in the history of Major League Baseball had hit 350 career home runs while also earning 10 Gold Glove awards. Advertisement St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado changed that with one swing of the bat. In the second game of their double-dip against the Chicago White Sox, Arenado launched a 385-foot blast in the third inning off starter Mike Vasil for his 350th career home run. In doing so, he joined Willie Mays, Al Kaline, Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt, Ken Griffey Jr. and Andruw Jones as the only players to record 350 home runs and at least 10 gold gloves. Arenado and Schmidt, who manned the hot corner for the Philadelphia Phillies for 18 seasons, are the only infielders to accomplish the historic feat. St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (28) hits a solo home runKamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images 'It's a great accomplishment,' Arenado informed 'It makes it very special. The names you hear, it's pretty crazy. I'm thankful I've been healthy enough to do it. It hasn't hit me quite yet, maybe because I'm tired and I'm excited to go home. But I'm just thankful.' Advertisement "It's hard to do what he does on the daily and play for as long as he has and put up the numbers that he has on both sides of the baseball. He wants to be a complete player, and to do what he did today is pretty damn special.' St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol said of his star third baseman. Not only did Arenado add to his hall of fame resume with the home run, but he became the sixth active player to reach the 350 mark, joining the New York Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton and Paul Goldschmidt, Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout, San Diego Padres' Manny Machado and Los Angeles Dodgers' Freddie Freeman. Arenado with look to add to his home run total when the Cardinals host NL Central Cincinnati Reds for a three-game set beginning Friday. Cardinals Host Reds Looking to Keep Pace in NL Central, Wild Card Race
Cardinals Host Reds Looking to Keep Pace in NL Central, Wild Card Race originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Fresh off a sweep of the Chicago White Sox, the St. Louis Cardinals return to Busch Stadium to take on the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game set beginning Friday. Advertisement The Cardinals (40-35) currently sit tied for second in the NL Central, five and a half games back of the division leading Chicago Cubs. The Reds (39-36) are just one game back of the Cardinals in fourth. After going 19-8 in May, the Cardinals have fallen back to earth this month and are 7-10. Despite their struggles, St. Louis remains just a half game out of a wild card spot. St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Andre Pallante (53) reacts as he walks off the fieldJeff Curry-Imagn Images Friday, June 20, 6:15 p.m. CT How to watch/listen: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, Matrix Midwest / KMOX 1120 AM/104.1 FM, WIJR AM 880 (En Espanol) Probable starters: Reds: Brady Singer (7-4, 4.34 ERA) Cardinals: Andre Pallante (4-3, 4.83 ERA) Advertisement Saturday, June 21, 1:15 p.m. CT How to watch/listen: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest / KMOX 1120 AM/104.1 FM, WIJR AM 880 (En Espanol) Probable starters: Reds: Wade Miley (1-0, 6.75 ERA) Cardinals: Sonny Gray (7-2, 3.84 ERA) Sunday, June 22, 1:15 p.m. CT How to watch/listen: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest / KMOX 1120 AM/104.1 FM, WIJR AM 880 (En Espanol) Probable starters: Reds: Andrew Abbott (6-1, 1.84 ERA) Cardinals: Miles Mikolas (4-4, 4.35 ERA) What to watch for: 1. Can Cardinals starters keep the Reds hitters at bay? The Reds are 32-4 this season in games in which they've out-hit their opponents. Shortstop Elly De La Cruz is pacing the way for Cincinnati, slashing .263/.345/.481 with a team-leading 16 home runs and 50 RBIs. Cardinals starters Pallante, Gray and Mikolas will need limit De La Cruz and the Reds hitters if they want to take this pivotal three-game series. Advertisement 2. Which Andre Pallante shows up? It's been a rough last three outings for Andre Pallante. He's allowed 18 hits and 13 runs over his last 14 and two-thirds innings. In his last start against Milwaukee on June 14, Pallante, who has the highest ERA (4.83) among Cardinals starters, failed to complete five innings for the fifth time this season. Pallante will also need to limit the long ball. He's allowed 11 home runs this season, only three of which, however, have come at Busch Stadium. 3. Who will leadoff for the Redbirds? Amid Lars Nootbaar's struggles at the plate, Oli Marmol continues to experiment with Shortstop Masyn Winn and second baseman Brendan Donovan in the lead off spot. Winn led off the front-end of Thursday's doubleheader, while Donovan led off game two. Despite going 0-for-5 yesterday in the second game, Donovan is batting .429 this season when hitting first. Winn just .111. Advantage Donovan.
