FHP: SUV flips in Gadsden County; woman ejected through windshield and airlifted to TMH
The driver of an SUV was in critical condition after crashing in Gadsden County and being ejected through the windshield, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The wreck happened just before 11 p.m. June 20 on Bainbridge Highway; the exact location wasn't given. The 28-year-old Havana woman was heading south and "negotiating a left-hand curve," a news release said.
She crossed over the roadway and drove into a culvert on the other side. The SUV went airborne and landed on the passenger side, then flipped over.
The driver – who was alone in the vehicle and wasn't wearing a seat belt – "was ejected through the windshield" before the SUV came to rest on its roof, FHP said.
She was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial in critical condition, the release added. No further information was available and the FHP does not name crash victims in news releases.

LONG POND, Pa. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. might already be NASCAR's most popular crew chief. He's certainly an undefeated one. Pressed into unexpected service, Earnhardt called the shots for 18-year-old prospect Connor Zilisch in the No. 88 Chevrolet and they landed in victory lane Saturday in the second-tier Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway. 'It felt good to have some input and decision-making power,' Earnhardt said. 'And then helping Connor understand what our plan was so he knew when to push and what he was expected to do.' Earnhardt — who won NASCAR's most-popular driver award 15 times — made a pit stop from his day job as team owner at JR Motorsports with normal crew chief Mardy Lindley suspended one race because of a lug nut infraction this month at Nashville. Aside from his duties as team owner, Earnhardt also was at Pocono for his role on the Prime broadcast for the NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday. 'Lot of fun for me today,' Earnhardt said. 'I missed the thrill of competition. I love broadcast, don't get me wrong. But nothing compares to driving or just being part of the team. Being an owner doesn't really deliver like this. This is a lot of fun.' Earnhardt had his wife and two young daughters in tow with him as he made the celebratory walk to victory lane. Oldest daughter Isla Rose clutched the checkered flag while youngest Nicole Lorraine soaked in the scene from her dad's arms. 'I love that they just get to experience things about NASCAR,' Earnhardt said. 'I had such a great time growing up as a kid in this sport, just running around here. I want them to have that opportunity and understand that this is a place where they could create opportunities for themselves down the road.' The win continued a banner season for the NASCAR Hall of Fame driver — who swept two races at Pocono as a driver in 2014 — after JR Motorsports and reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier qualified for the season-opening Daytona 500 and secured their Cup Series debut . Earnhardt won two Daytona 500s, in 2004 and 2014, and 26 races overall. His side hustle Saturday was made a bit easier with Zilisch behind the wheel. Zilisch, who turns 19 in July, raced to his second Xfinity victory of the season and third of his young career. He won his Xfinity debut last year at Watkins Glen International. Earnhardt even pitched in during the race and tossed tires over the wall during pit stops. 'Midway through the race man, I was feeling it,' Earnhardt said. Zilisch took the win down to the wire and finally passed Jesse Love with five laps left in the race. Love finished second. 'Dale Junior, not too bad on the box,' Zilisch said. 'Pretty cool to have him up there. Getting him a 1-for-1 win as crew chief is pretty awesome.' Even with the victory, it just might be one-and-done on the pit box for Earnhardt. Memorial Day weekend shooting leaves 11 injured near North Myrtle Beach as police hunt suspects
South Carolina authorities continue to search for the suspect or suspects who carried out a mass shooting that left 11 people injured on Sunday evening in Little River, near North Myrtle Beach. The Horry County Police Department described the shooting as an isolated incident stemming from an altercation on a charter boat during a private Memorial Day gathering. There were about 124 people onboard the boat, including four crew members, when the shooting occurred, Horry County police said during a Tuesday press conference. Three victims are still hospitalized while eight have been released, authorities said during the press conference. "This type of violence will not be tolerated in Horry County," HCPD Chief Kris Leonhardt said. "We are going to do our very best to investigate this case and bring criminal charges against these folks that have caused this incident here in our county." Horry County Fire Department Chief Joseph Tanner said authorities initially got a call around 9:15 p.m. reporting an injury and responded accordingly. Upon arrival, officials located multiple gunshot-wounded victims. The charter boat party attendees were from out of town, Leonhardt said, making it more difficult to track down witnesses. A total of 10 victims sustained gunshot wounds and another person reported an unknown injury not related to gunfire, the police department said in a Monday press release. Some victims were recovered from the water, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department (NMBPD) said in a separate press release. "Of those, the worst of the injured are in critical but stable condition at area hospitals," Horry County police said in a press release. Videos and photos posted to social media on Sunday evening showed a heavy police presence in the area of the Dolphin Cruise parking lot in Little River, located north of North Myrtle Beach. NMBPD also said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating a separate incident involving a responding North Myrtle Beach officer who was injured with his own firearm near the Harbourgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach. "A NMBPD Officer was entering a gate to the dock when his rifle discharged twice, with one of the rounds striking his leg," the department said in its press release. "At the time of the discharge, the Officer had both of his hands on the gate, which was confirmed by later video evidence. Due to the Officer not attempting to utilize his weapon at the time, all Officers on scene believed that shots were being fired from the marina area." The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Video footage obtained from a witness apparently shows the incident, and authorities determined that "the discharge was from the wounded Officer's rifle," and the scene was released to SLED. Horry County police said the shooting remains under investigation, and "there is currently no associated risk to the community." Crime concerns in and around Myrtle Beach have been heightened since April 26, when a shooting in the Myrtle Beach entertainment district left the shooter dead and 11 victims injured. Myrtle Beach officials described the shooting as an isolated incident at the time. At least 1 dead, 10 shot during South Carolina Juneteenth event near veterans' center
Nearly a dozen people were shot Saturday night near a South Carolina veterans' center during a "Juneteenth celebration." The Anderson County Sheriff's Office confirmed at least 10 people were shot, and one person is dead after a fight in the parking lot of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post. One person was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital and at least eight others were taken to nearby hospitals in Anderson and Greenville. The crowd, which included hundreds of people, gathered for the county's sixth annual Juneteenth celebration, sheriff's officials wrote in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. Following the shooting, hundreds of people scattered, leaving behind shoes and debris in the road. In what officials called a "chaotic scene," more than 50 law enforcement personnel, EMS, firefighters, troopers and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) officers responded. "This remains an active investigation and detectives and deputies continue to work this unfolding scene," the agency said.
