Mango and Circulose team up to boost textile recycling
Mango has announced a strategic partnership with Circulose to boost textile circularity within its supply chain. The Spanish fashion brand is collaborating with the Swedish company to source material made from recycled cotton. According to an official statement, Mango describes the collaboration as 'a milestone in its commitment to sustainable fashion. " Through this alliance, Mango will integrate fibers derived from Circulose pulp into its supply chain. The pulp is created using an innovative chemical process that transforms recycled cotton waste into usable raw material. The goal is to incorporate these fibers into upcoming product collections. 'This collaboration marks a major milestone in our sustainability roadmap, aligning with our goal of using only lower-impact fibers by 2030,' said Andrés Fernández, Mango's director of sustainability and sourcing. 'It reflects our commitment to fostering a more circular and responsible fashion ecosystem, where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.' Jonatan Janmark, CEO of Circulose, added: 'We're proud to welcome Mango as a circularity-scaling partner in this new chapter of Circulose. This collaboration brings us one step closer to restarting our factory. We hope it sends a strong signal for other brands to follow.' Previously known as Renewcell, Circulose is a Swedish specialist in recycling plant-based and cellulose fibers. In February 2024, Renewcell filed for bankruptcy, citing a lack of brand commitment to adopting recycled materials. Backed by investors such as H&M Group, Bestseller and Tommy Hilfiger, the company relaunched in June under the name Circulose with support from Swedish private equity firm Altor. Founded in 1984 by Isak Andic, Mango is a global fashion brand headquartered in Barcelona. It operates in over 120 markets with a network of over 2,800 stores. Its sustainability strategy focuses on transitioning to a circular model. In early 2023, Mango launched its first denim collection designed with circularity principles and partnered with Spanish textile innovator Pyratex, known for new-generation fabrics. The company is also a founding member of Re-Viste, Spain's textile scrap initiative.

Alexander Isak's two-word admission puts Arsenal in transfer driving seat
Alexander Isak has already made his feelings clear about Martin Odegaard as Arsenal aim to fend off Premier League champions Liverpool and finally sign the Newcastle striker Alexander Isak's two-word comment about Martin Odegaard could give Arsenal the edge as they continue their long pursuit of the Newcastle forward. The Gunners have been linked with the Swedish striker for years, even before his £63million move to the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022. Odegaard, who was on loan from Real Madrid, and Isak were team-mates at Sociedad during the 2019/20 season. The pair struck up a strong relationship on and off the pitch, with Isak even branding Odegaard his 'best friend' in the team. Speaking during their season together, Isak said: 'We have a very good contact and thrive well together. He is natural that he will be my best friend on the team. He was well known as a cult to have him on the same.' The Gunners will hope that bond remains as they look to finally get a deal over the line for their long-term target. That is not a formality, with Liverpool entering the race to sign the striker, who scored 23 Premier League goals in 2024/25. The English champions have already spent big in the transfer market this summer, signing right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for around £30million. Meanwhile, playmaker Florian Wirtz has arrived in the city to complete his club record move worth up to £116.5m. Signing Isak, whose Newcastle contract has three years left to run, would be a real statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League. The man himself, however, has already suggested that he would fit into the Reds' system under Arne Slot. Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup final between the sides, Isak said: 'I really enjoy the games against Liverpool, because I think they're not too different to ourselves, a high-pressing team and a direct team, which can lead to many counter-opportunities, and that's the game I like." Newcastle, of course, will be desperate to keep their star striker as they prepare for their return to the Champions League. Addressing the speculation over his future in March, Isak was non-committal, saying: 'I think this club can achieve great things. We should look at one season at a time and this season we can achieve winning a trophy, which would be amazing for everyone. "My future is nothing really I think about. I've said many times doing a season I just focus on the job, now is probably the worst time to think about anything else.' However, Arsenal will hope the prospect of rekindling his relationship with captain Odegaard will sway Isak's big decision in their favour. A deal for Benjamin Seskso or Viktor Gyokeres, however, looks much more likely at this stage. A new number nine is seen as critical as Arsenal look to go from 'nearly men' to winners following three successive runner-up finishes in the Premier League. Club great Thierry Henry made his feelings last clear recently, telling the Stick to Football podcast:"Everyone has been screaming for a nine, apart from when we win, by the way. When we beat Real Madrid, we didn't need a nine. No, you do need a nine.'

Greta Thunberg, once mocked in China as ‘naive white leftist', suddenly becomes popular on social media; here's why
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, once mocked in China, is now getting unexpected support from Chinese social media users. This change came after she had tried to sail to Gaza with 11 others to break Israel's blockade and deliver aid. Israeli forces stopped the boat and deported her back to Europe. Her move was followed closely in China. Greta Thunberg, 22, was once criticised on Chinese social media as a 'naive white leftist'. She is now being praised for her Gaza support. Many praised her courage and support for Palestine, saying she risked her life for her beliefs. One user on Weibo has said they used to laugh at her earlier activism but now respect her for standing firm on the Gaza issue. 'Although we oppose this 'young girl' on many issues, we support what she is doing now on the Gaza issue,' the South China Morning Post quoted one user as posting on Weibo. 'She truly practices what she preaches. She even risked her life to go to Gaza. Respect. I hope she stays safe,' a user said. Weibo's AI tracker confirms this change, saying she's seen as someone who truly acts on her beliefs. Other platforms like Douyin and Bilibili also show more support for her. Earlier, Thunberg faced backlash in China for criticising its environmental and human rights policies. State-run media had called her a 'tool of Western politics' and told her to focus only on climate issues. Experts say this shift is not just about Thunberg but reflects growing support for Palestine and rising anti-Israel feelings in China. According to a Hong Kong professor, many Chinese people now support Thunberg because she shares Beijing's view on Gaza. So, it's politics, not climate, which seems to be shaping opinions about her in China right now. 'It is simply because anti-American sentiment has been on the rise among Chinese netizens in recent years, leading to a significant decline in their evaluation of Israel,' SCMP quoted Yan Zhihua as saying.

Arne Slot warned Isak isn't easy as Newcastle coaches 'hold private talks'
Liverpool have been linked with another record-breaking transfer for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, with Arne Slot being told the formula for getting the best out of the Sweden international Arne Slot has been given clear instructions on how to maximise Alexander Isak's potential if Liverpool break the bank for the Newcastle striker this summer. It is understood that the Swedish striker needs specific man-management techniques in order to play to his full potential, something Newcastle coaches have managed to do by regularly holding private discussions. Isak, 25, has emerged as one of the Premier League's standout forwards during his three-year stint on Tyneside. He boasts an impressive goal-scoring record with the Magpies, netting 62 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions, while his scintillating form this season included 27 goals and six assists. That has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including the Reds, who have already shown their ambition in the transfer market this summer. Arne Slot has secured the signings of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz for £29.5million and a British transfer record-breaking £116m, respectively, with the latter set to join his former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate at Kirkby. Give Me Sport reports that Liverpool may be prepared to break the transfer record for a second time in the same window in order to land Isak, who Newcastle have valued at a whopping £150m. Isak has been described as Slot's 'dream' signing this summer and is widely regarded as a complete player. Yet, a deep dive into the player's mindset by The Athletic earlier this year revealed that the responsibility lies with the coaching staff at Newcastle to bring out the best in the Swede. The report stated that Isak needs to be kept "stimulated" to truly unlock his potential. The Newcastle coaching staff are said to hold regular discussions, constantly brainstorming ways to push him to reach new heights at the right time - only then can they reap the benefits of his lofty potential. From the moment he joined the Magpies, Isak's raw talent was undeniable, and the club never questioned his ability. According to insiders, Newcastle coaches felt he needed time to adapt to the Premier League, a process that is still ongoing, though a former staff member described him as having "uncoachable raw ingredients". Those who have worked with Isak say he "needs to be constantly challenged" and thrives on "creative work", given his creative playing style. Eddie Howe and his staff set targets for Isak to reach, something he reportedly enjoys as it keeps him engaged. An anonymous source who has worked closely with Isak was quoted saying: "There isn't a ceiling to what he can achieve," explaining why he is such a sought-after player and why Newcastle are determined not to let him go this summer. There's no question that Slot, who transformed a Liverpool squad that finished third the previous season into comfortable league winners with just one outfield addition, possesses the tactical acumen and man-management skills to push Isak to new levels. Although it's not entirely out of the question that Liverpool could top their £116m Wirtz bid to secure Isak's transfer to Anfield, reports indicate the Reds are more likely to submit an offer of around £100m. This is £16m less than Wirtz's fee and significantly lower than Newcastle's £150m valuation, which the northeast club can demand due to Isak's three-year contract. However, one factor that could work in Liverpool's favour is if Newcastle successfully sign Brighton's Brazilian star Joao Pedro, valued at £60m-£70m. According to talkSPORT, Newcastle's stance on Isak might soften if they bring in Pedro.

Streaming platform Deezer starts flagging AI-generated music
French streaming service Deezer is now alerting users when they come across music identified as completely generated by artificial intelligence, the company told AFP on Friday in what it called a global first. The announcement by chief executive Alexis Lanternier follows repeated statements from the platform that a torrent of AI-generated tracks is being uploaded daily -- a challenge Deezer shares with other streaming services including Swedish heavyweight Spotify . Deezer said in January that it was receiving uploads of 10,000 AI tracks a day, doubling to over 20,000 in an April statement -- or around 18% of all music added to the platform. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo The company "wants to make sure that royalties supposed to go to artists aren't being taken away" by tracks generated from a brief text prompt typed into a music generator like Suno or Udio , Lanternier said. AI tracks are not being removed from Deezer's library, but instead are demonetised to avoid unfairly reducing human musicians' royalties. Live Events Albums containing tracks suspected of being created in this way are now flagged with a notice reading "content generated by AI", a move Deezer says is a global first for a streaming service. "An audio signal is an extremely complex bundle of information. When AI algorithms generate a new song, there are little sounds that only they make which give them away... that we're able to spot," he said. "It's not audible to the human ear, but it's visible in the audio signal." With 9.7 million subscribers worldwide, most of them in France, Deezer is a relative minnow compared to Spotify, which has 268 million. The Swedish firm in January signed a deal supposed to better remunerate artists and other rights holders with the world's biggest label, Universal Music Group . But Spotify has not taken the same path as Deezer of demonetising AI content. It has pointed to the lack of a clear definition for completely AI-generated audio, as well as any legal framework setting it apart from human-created works.
