Alejandro Garnacho leaves Man Utd fans fuming with Marcus Rashford gesture
Alejandro Garnacho is one of a number of Mancheser United stars up for sale this summer after being told to find a new club by Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim earlier this year
Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has prompted the ire of the club's supporters by wearing another Premier League side's shirt. The winger posted a picture of himself wearing an Aston Villa top with 'Rashford' on the back.
Both Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are expected to leave Manchester this summer, and neither is part of Ruben Amorim's plans at Old Trafford. Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park after being left out of numerous United squads.
And Argentina international Garnacho was told to find a new club at the end of the season after venting his frustration at not starting in the Europa League final. The 20-year-old was left out of United's final Premier League matchday squad.
The young star was the subject of interest in January as Napoli had a bid in the region of £40million turned down. An asking price of £70m was initially touted for Garnacho but it has since been suggested that figure could be slashed to facilitate a move.
And Garnacho's social media activity appears to have signalled some camaraderie with Rashford, to the dismay of some United fans. Sharing photographs from his holiday to Ibiza, one included a picture of him wearing Marcus Rashford's Aston Villa shirt.
Rashford responded to the post with the words 'My brother' and a heart emoji. Others of a United persuasion were less kind, however.
"To wear another Premier club's top is madness and proves you clearly are not mentally ready for the next level," wrote one fan. "You've lost the respect of majority of United fans especially those that have backed you," added another.
"Garnacho just keeps proving why he must leave," remarked a supporter. "His ego is ridiculous for somebody with his ability."
"There's a line and you just crossed it," said another. "See ya later Garnacho, clear off and find yourself another club," said a further fan.
An additional supporter suggested the image was an intentional move. "Garnacho knows exactly what he's doing wearing that jersey.. weirdo," they said.
Both players could soon find themselves returning to United however. Rashford is said to be ready to return for pre-season training if a transfer away does not materialise.
Nobody is currently in serious talks to sign the 27-year-old and Rashford is 'preparing' for such an eventuality with United's stars due back for tests and training next month. Despite interest from a host of Europe's elite, such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus, United are believed to have not received any formal offers for the forward.

Crystal Palace's Europa League prospects improve after John Textor sells stake
Textor's shares in Palace threatened to be an obstacle to their participation in the Europa League next season because the American is also a shareholder in French side Lyon, who are set to enter the same competition. Under UEFA multi-club ownership rules, it looked as though Palace would miss out. However, the PA news agency understands from sources close to Palace that Textor's 45 per cent stake in the London club has now been sold to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson. Reports have placed the price between £160m and £190m. The sale is subject to Premier League approval, but may now free Palace up to play in the Europa League. The Eagles qualified thanks to their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City last month. Textor, who through his Eagle Football Holdings group also owns a significant stake in Brazilian side Botafogo, initially invested in Palace in 2021. Palace declined to comment. Eagle Football Holdings and UEFA have both been approached for comment. PA understands a decision regarding Palace's participation is expected from UEFA before the end of June.

Wrexham get green light to complete transfer after £40million agreement reached
Wrexham are said to be keen on signing a Liverpool youngster on loan, with the Premier League champions closing in on a transfer deal which could smooth the way Wrexham could get the green light to sign a promising Liverpool youngster on loan as the Premier League title winners edge closer to a £40million deal. The Red Dragons, who recently secured promotion to the Championship, are reportedly keen on snapping up Liverpool left-back Owen Beck. The 22-year-old defender, who was born in Wrexham, impressed on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the second tier this season. Beck, who is the great nephew of former Liverpool and Wrexham striker Ian Rush, established himself as Rovers' first-choice left-back until an unfortunate injury curtailed his progress. The Wales under-21 international made 26 appearances for Blackburn in their quest for a play-off position, but a hamstring issue limited him to just one game after early February. Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, secured their third consecutive promotion in April and are now setting their sights on Beck to strengthen their squad. According to Beck's potential loan move could be made possible by Liverpool securing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. The Hungarian left-back is reported to be close to arriving at Anfield for a fee of about $54m (£40m). Liverpool see Kerkez as the perfect successor to Andy Robertson, who has caught the eye of La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. Kerkez, who transferred to Bournemouth in July 2023 from AZ Alkmaar, has been thriving under Andoni Iraola's management. In his debut Premier League season with Bournemouth, Kerkez featured in all 38 matches, scoring six times and providing two assists. Meanwhile, Beck has shown his talent during several recent loan stints, particularly impressing at Dundee. His stellar performances earned him a spot in the PFA Scottish Premiership Team of the Year for the 2023-24 season. However, Beck's earlier loan experiences at Famalicao and Bolton Wanderers were less fruitful, failing to make an appearance for the former and featuring only nine times for the latter. Reflecting on Beck's journey, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said in January 2024: "We were always pretty positive about Owen, but then he had two really difficult loan spells [at Famalicao and Bolton]. "It was a surprise that it didn't work out because of what we thought about Owen, but that's how it is with young boys. When you send them away from home, plenty of things can happen. "Things always have to fit well – it must be the right manager, must be the right team, if they have another left-back there who is experienced. There are so many things which can make a loan spell not really happen. But at Dundee everything was fine and he made big steps." Crystal Palace handed huge Europa League boost after £190million decision
Crystal Palace look to have cleared the path to play in Europe next season with John Textor selling his stake to American businessman Woody Johnson for £190million John Textor has sold his stake in Crystal Palace to US billionaire Woody Johnson - paving the way for the FA Cup winners to play in the Europa League next season. Textor's involvement at the Eagles had caused major issues given he is also the owner of French side Lyon, who will play in Europe next term. UEFA's multi-club ownership rules had left the Premier League side in danger of being denied the chance to compete in the Europa League despite their success at Wembley last month However his 43 percent stake in the club has now been bought by Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, for £190million. The deal has gone through provided it gets approval from the Premier League. It is understood that Johnson will be subjected to the same set-up at Palace as Textor was. Despite him owning 43 per cent of the club, he will only have a quarter of the voting rights with chairman Steve Parish and US investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer also having a say in the running of the Eagles. Palace officials, including Textor, had gone to Switzerland earlier this month to hold crunch talks UEFA officials as they looked to prove that Textor only held 25 per cent of voting rights, which meant he was not in a position of influence at Selhurst Park and not breaching their multi-club rules. Both Manchester United and Manchester City had been able to circumnavigate UEFA's rules in recent years, allowing them to continue playing in Europe. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also the owner of Nice whilst the City Football Group own Spanish side Girona. Johnson's wealth stems from him being an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical empire and a Republican donor with an estimated worth of around £7.38bn. He is known to be a close friend and financial backer of US President Donald Trump. Back in 2022 he was among those who attempted to buy Chelsea, but ultimately missed out with fellow American Todd Boehly leading a consortium that bought the Blues from Roman Abramovich. Johnson has controlled the Jets since 2000. But under his ownership they are yet to win a Super Bowl and have now gone 14 seasons without appearing in the post-season play-offs - the longest drought in the sport.
