Man City ace thinks Chelsea could sign explosive player over Alejandro Garnacho

With speculation rife that Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho could soon head to Stamford Bridge, one of Manchester City's newest recruits has talked up another Chelsea target Manchester City's Rayan Cherki thinks highly of Chelsea target and former Lyon team-mate Malick Fofana. The Blues have been linked with a host of wingers this window, including Manchester United's wantaway Alejandro Garnacho. Enzo Maresca's side are on the hunt for a wide player this summer, after Jadon Sancho returned to Old Trafford upon the expiration of his loan, with no permanent deal sealed. In January, rumours swirled that Red Devils star Garnacho could be on his way to west London, and while his agents were even spotted at Stamford Bridge amid alleged talks, the 20-year-old stayed put. ‌ With the transfer window back open, hints have been dropped that Garnacho will seek pastures new, with his personal photographer even suggesting via social media that he has played for United for the 'last time.' ‌ However, a move to Chelsea could rely on the Blues not pursuing other targets, and Lyon's Fofana is now reportedly on their radar and has been given a glowing review by former team-mate and new City signing Cherki. Fofana arrived in Ligue 1 from Gent last year. At just 20, he recorded 11 goals and six assists this campaign, proving particularly prolific in the Europa League, in which he found the back of the net six times. The Belgian talent has attracted attention from not just the Blues, but Liverpool, United and Nottingham Forest, according to L'Equipe, though the City Ground is supposedly not his desired destination. He is valued at £42.5million. In 2024, when Fofana was being fleetingly integrated into Lyon's first team, Cherki, who completed a £30m transfer to the Etihad this summer, spoke highly of his peer. "Malick Fofana? I like everything about him," admitted Cherki. "He's good, kind, not very handsome (laughs), but who cares. He brings us his explosiveness. ‌ "We tell him to go into spaces because we can give him the ball and he can hurt [opponents]. He has integrated well and is not afraid of much." Fofana has caught the eye of those around him plenty of times in the past. When he was starring for Gent in his native Belgium, the club's under-21 coach, Emilio Ferrera, described him as the best talent he'd ever seen. "When I started as a coach of the youth team at Gent, I quickly knew that Malick was the greatest talent I ever trained," Ferrera admitted. "He can explode a match on his own." ‌ According to The Athletic, Chelsea have made initial contact with Lyon over signing Fofana, and plenty of names on their wishlist could also be pursued with vigour this summer, Garnacho perhaps included. Borussia Dortmund wide player Jamie Gittens was subject to a rejected £42m offer earlier this month, with the German club seeking £50m for his services. Chelsea hoped to sign the English winger before Maresca's side jetted off for the Club World Cup, and while no deal was completed, a revised approach is not out of the question.

Man Utd star's 'arguments' with Ruben Amorim as transfer on for 'bad character'

Alejandro Garnacho is set to leave Manchester United this summer and there have been fresh claims that clashes with head coach Ruben Amorim on the training pitch are to blame Alejandro Garnacho has been told he needs to focus more on his football and less on arguing with his manager. The 20-year-old looks set to move away from Manchester United this summer after being informed he's free to find a new club. Speculation over the winger's future has ramped up as he is understood to have fallen out with United head coach Ruben Amorim at the end of this season. A £40million offer was made for the Argentine by Napoli in January, but swiftly dismissed by the Premier League giants. ‌ However, it's believed a sum of about £70m would seal his departure. As Garnacho nears the Old Trafford exit door, former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders has claimed a row over tactics was to blame for his bust-up with Amorim. ‌ The ex-Wolves and Wrexham criticised the player's actions, despite praising him for his passionate displays. Speaking on talkSPORT, Saunders said: "I like him as a player. "He plays with his heart on his sleeve, and there's a load of them who don't at Man United. But from a good source, I heard he's arguing with the manager on the training pitch about tactics. How old is he, 20? Just get on with it." Amorim has already begun reshaping his United squad this summer following the arrival of Matheus Cunha for £62.5m. Bryan Mbeumo is also anticipated to join from Brentford despite Thomas Frank's reported interest in taking the winger with him to Tottenham. Saunders has cautioned United that signing players with the right mentality will be crucial in the transfer window. It follows Amorim falling out with both Garnacho and Marcus Rashford this season. He said: "Man United have signed bad characters, and you've got to start signing good characters. Forget the talent. ‌ "Obviously, you've got to have a certain amount to play at the level you're at, but they've got to concentrate on signing good characters, because they're shambolic at the moment." Garnacho himself is said to have expressed a preference for staying in the UK if he does move this summer. Chelsea are among the teams most heavily linked with a bid to sign him, while Arsenal and Aston Villa are also believed to have shown an interest. His old club Atletico Madrid have also been associated with him, along with Bayer Leverkusen following Erik ten Hag's appointment as manager. Any fee received for Garnacho would represent a pure profit for United as he's considered as a homegrown player. Major hint dropped over Alejandro Garnacho's Man United future after Ruben Amorim row

Alejandro Garnacho 's photographer has appeared to drop a major hint over the forward's Manchester United future. Garnacho appears to be on the way out of Old Trafford after clashing with Ruben Amorim after an incident that saw the United boss tell his player to find a new club in front of his team-mates at United's training ground. Amorim's outburst came after Garnacho questioned the decision not to start him in the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham. The 20-year-old also branded United's season 's***' following the loss, while his agent brother claimed he had been 'thrown under the bus' by Amorim. He is understood to be keen on staying in England, with Chelsea long-term admirers of his abilities. Napoli have also been linked with making a move. There have been a series of subtle hints about his future in recent weeks, but another may have just been made by the player's own photographer, Konrad Borzyskowski. Borzyskowski, who has a strong working relationship with a number of high-profile players in Europe took to Instagram on Monday to share photos of Garnacho from last season with a rather interesting caption. His personal photographer has now shared photos on Instagram alongside the caption 'one last time in Manchester United red', indicating Garnacho will leave Old Trafford this summer Taking to his profile, which sees him boast more than 33,000 followers, the photographer shared 20 photos of his client. The images were from the 2024-25 season, and were all of the player. The caption read: 'One last time in Manchester United red... Alejandro Garnacho under the [microscope emoji],' suggesting that the Argentine's time at Old Trafford is up. It is not known if Borzyskowski has any inside information, but he has worked with countless footballers, including Jude Bellingham, Bruno Fernandes and Phil Foden. His Instagram bio states he carries out photography and video work for 'athletes and luxury brands'. There is no lack of interest in Garnacho, but he is unlikely to leave the Red Devils on the cheap with United slapping a £70million price-tag on the 20-year-old. The hefty sum has already deterred Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports, with Mail Sport understanding Tottenham and Aston Villa are also keen. Garnacho is viewed as one of United's sellable assets this summer given his age, while he also still has three years remaining on his contract. Amorim wants a major squad overhaul, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho also in line to follow Garnacho out the exit door.

Sell Onana, buy Gyokeres

As the transfer window is now open again until 1 September, we asked for you to tell us one player you want to bring to Manchester United and one player you want the club to are some of your comments:Carl: Semenyo in and Sancho out, one brings balance and the other endless Sell Garnacho and buy Gyokeres. He is a proven Onana out, he's just not consistent. Toney in. We need a proven Premier League standard striker. We can't afford another 'let's hope he's good enough' type from a lower standard Sell Luke Shaw and buy Marc Gyokores in and Hojlund out. We need to score more goals and this could be the season defining Sell Onana and replace him with Porto keeper Diogo I would sell Garnacho and buy Wharton. Garnacho should fetch a decent fee and will do wonders from a PSR perspective. He is also a winger which doesn't truly fit Amorim's system. Wharton will bring a genuine, disciplined and athletic deep lying midfield playmaker which will allow Bruno to push up to more attacking areas where he is at his best. It will take a huge fee and wages to convince Palace to sell up and Wharton to go to a club with no European football.

Man Utd player's photographer 'confirms' he is leaving club this summer

There appears to be no way back for Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United, with a fresh social media hint emerging ahead of his anticipated summer transfer exit Alejandro Garnacho's Manchester United exit looks to have been all but confirmed by his photographer. It's expected that Garnacho will leave Old Trafford this summer. The 20-year-old has been told he's free to find a new club, with Ruben Amorim deeming him surplus to requirement after their falling out. While Napoli's £40million January offer was briskly dismissed, it's believed a sum of about £60-70m would be enough to see him leave. ‌ There's been no indication so far in the early going of the window that anyone will be willing to push that high. Nonetheless, it seems that Konrad Borzyskowski, the man behind the lens for Garnacho, can't foresee a future where the Argentinian talent is playing for the Red Devils again next season. ‌ He took to Instagram on Monday to share a collection of photos he'd taken of Garnacho throughout the 2024/25 campaign. It was captioned: "One last time in @manchesterunited red... @garnacho7 under the microscope." Whether Borzyskowski possesses insider knowledge is unknown, but he does share connections with numerous football stars in the Premier League and across Europe. Garnacho himself is said to prefer staying in the UK. Chelsea have been the most heavily linked of United's domestic rivals. And Garnacho was spotted liking their new signing Liam Delap's Instagram post after their opening Club World Cup victory against LAFC. Despite having a plethora of attacking options, Enzo Maresca's frontline is weakest on the left side, especially after the Blues decided to spend £5m to negate their obligation to purchase Jadon Sancho for between £20m and £25m. Arsenal and Aston Villa have also been linked with Garnacho. It seems Arsenal may miss out on top wide target Nico Williams, who reportedly prefers a move to Barcelona. ‌ Villa, meanwhile, will likely need to offload players before they can make any purchases due to concerns about violating PSR rules. Atletico Madrid, Garnacho's former club, have naturally been associated with him. Erik ten Hag's return to management at Bayer Leverkusen has similarly sparked rumours of a potential reunion. Any fee received for Garnacho will be pure profit for United as he's considered a homegrown player, bolstering the funds available for Amorim. The arrival of Matheus Cunha for £62.5m has already made a significant dent in them, while Bryan Mbeumo - who is thought to prefer a move to United over following Thomas Frank to Tottenham - will command a similar price, if not more. And with the pursuit of a new striker also on the agenda, sales will be key in the coming weeks.
