Dubai Students to Gain Direct Access to India's Premier Universities in Landmark Educational Ties
In a major boost to academic collaboration between the UAE and India, students in Dubai will soon gain access to prestigious Indian institutions, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). The agreements were inked during the first official visit to India by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. A key milestone was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Dubai Medical University (DMU) and AIIMS, one of India's most respected medical institutions. This partnership paves the way for student exchange programmes, joint research, and faculty collaboration. Beginning this year, DMU students will be posted as observers at AIIMS Delhi, with AIIMS professors also expected to visit Dubai for short teaching assignments. 'This is a great opportunity for our students to benefit from AIIMS' world-class expertise and facilities,' said Denis Lefrancois, advisor to the chairman of S.S. Lootah Group. The agreement focuses on collaborative research in high-impact areas such as infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, and climate change, while also exploring cooperation in AI-driven healthcare and digital transformation in medical education. In a parallel development, Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) signed an MoU with IIMA to establish a global campus in Dubai. Initially set to launch later this year within Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), the IIMA Dubai campus will offer a one-year full-time MBA programme. A permanent campus is expected by 2029.
