Rail passengers face delays from signalling fault
Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of disruption due to a broken down train and a signalling fault.
National Rail said the issue with the signalling system between Wolverhampton and Sandwell and Dudley on Friday morning meant trains were running at slower speeds on all lines.
A spokesperson said lines have since reopened but trains between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street might be delayed for up to 45 minutes, with disruption expected until at least 08:00 BST.
Passengers were urged to check their journeys before travelling, with tickets being accepted on some alternative train and tram routes.
National Rail said a train had also broken down between Wolverhampton and Stafford, with some services running through the stations delayed or diverted.
On X, CrossCountry Trains said "due to the theft of signalling cables," between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, services would not be calling at Wolverhampton until further notice.

'A slice of heaven' - The ‘most scenic' beer garden in the Yorkshire Dales
There is no end of pubs in the Yorkshire Dales offering stunning views of the national park, especially during the summer months. But one traditional watering hole in the heart of the Dales at Appletreewick near Skipton, is said to have the 'most scenic' beer garden to visit. The New Inn, described as a 'piece of heaven', is located close to the River Wharfe and alongside the Dales Way trail. It's been hailed by guests for its 'peaceful and quiet' location and picturesque surroundings, which must be 'appreciated'. Air India will reduce U.S. frequencies
Air India will reduce frequencies on three U.S. routes from June 21 through at least July 15. Delhi-San Francisco will drop from 10-times weekly to daily; Delhi-Chicago O'Hare will be reduced from daily to three-times weekly; and Delhi-Washington Dulles will go from five-times weekly to three-times per week. The moves come as the carrier continues enhanced safety checks on its widebody fleet following the June 12 Boeing 787 crash in Ahmedabad, which killed 241 passengers and crew and 29 people on the ground. India's civil aviation authority has thus far cleared 26 of the airline's 33 Dreamliners following those checks. But Air India has also decided to undertake checks on its fleet of Boeing 777s. The safety checks, coupled with increased flight times on many routes due to restrictions on Indian carriers overflying Pakistan, led Air India to cancel 83 international flights between June 13 and June 18. Overall, the carrier will reduce its international flight schedule by 15% during the June 21 to July 15 time frame to improve reliability. "Air India apologizes to the passengers affected due to these curtailments and will inform them in advance and make its best efforts to accommodate them on alternate flights. Passengers will also be offered a choice to reschedule their travel without any cost or to be given full refund, as per their choice," the airline said.
