A Movie Theater Ceiling Collapses on Fans During FINAL DESTINATION BLOODLINES Screening

Yahoo27-05-2025

The Final Destination franchise has put fear in our hearts of dying in bizarre ways for twenty five years. We can feel our hearts racing whenever we see a log truck on the highway. And, there's always that thought in the back of our minds that our rollercoaster ride will go epically wrong. Now, we have to add going to the theater and watching a Final Destination movie to our list. In Argentina, a movie theater ceiling collapsed on fans while they were watching Final Destination Bloodlines. It is an incredibly ironic turn of events that is life imitating art in the most disturbing of ways.
According to the Argentine publication Infobae, a May 19 showing of Final Destination Bloodlines went really, really wrong when the roof in the theater began to crumble and collapse. Can you just imagine how frightening it is to be watching a film about people dying in horrible ways just to have a (sort of) near-death experience of your own?
There were a few injuries and a lot of very scared people but thankfully no one was killed during this unfortunate incident. It is not clear whether the theater will provide a statement about the collapse.
After speaking with news outlets, some viewers believe recent heavy rainfall was the reason why this took place. And, at least one moviegoer will pursue a legal case, which isn't unreasonable considering she sustained injuries that caused her to miss work. Fiamma Villaverde said the pieces struck her shoulder, back, knee and ankle, adding, 'It didn't hit my head because I was slightly leaning over the armrests.'
If I went to see Final Destination Bloodlines and the movie theater ceiling collapsed on me, I would be quite upset, too. Everyone be safe out there for real, because this is some truly frightening news.

Argentina's Kirchner urges backers not to gather as police deploy

Argentine ex-president Cristina Kirchner urged supporters Friday not to gather outside her Buenos Aires apartment, where she is serving a six-year fraud sentence, saying she feared police violence. Kirchner alleged on social media the government had "orchestrated a police operation at the door of my house with the sole purpose of provoking conflicts." She called on her backers, who held a days-long vigil outside her flat, to exercise "wisdom and restraint" and to organize a demonstration planned for Friday elsewhere. AFP witnessed police barriers around the building, with several police trucks stationed nearby. The 72-year-old, convicted of "fraudulent administration" over public works contracts awarded during her 2007-2015 two-term presidency, had an appeal overturned by the Supreme Court last week. The court upheld her sentence and a life ban on holding public office. A different judge allowed Kirchner to serve her sentence at home, which quickly became the scene of solidarity demonstrations. On Wednesday, tens of thousands of people marched on a central square under the banner "Argentina with Cristina." The following day, a judge ruled Kirchner may use her second-floor balcony, under which supporters had been keeping vigil and where she made several brief appearances. A ban on "any behavior that could disturb the peace of the neighborhood" had led to fears she could be confined indoors. Kirchner has challenged limited visitation rights ordered by the court, restricted to family members, doctors and lawyers in what her team described as "a totally arbitrary exclusion regime." There has been speculation Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva could try and visit her when he travels to Buenos Aires for a summit in July. He would have to request a court's permission. sa/dga/ial/lpt/mlr/sms

5 best new movies to stream this weekend on Max, Netflix, Disney Plus, and more

Another weekend means a fresh wave of new movies across the best streaming services just arrived, including some of this year's biggest blockbusters. But figuring out what to watch with so much to choose from can quickly become a headache. That's why we regularly comb through all the new movies on streaming to highlight the best of the bunch. The biggest newcomer this week is easily "A Minecraft Movie" on Max, though my top pick would have to be 'Final Destination Bloodlines' arriving on premium video-on-demand streaming platforms. On Netflix, you can check out 'Kpop Demon Hunters," a fun and vibrant new animated adventure from the studio behind the "Spider-Verse" films. Over on Disney Plus, there's a new live-action musical version of "Frozen" with new songs from the original movie's songwriters. Lastly, Paramount Plus has a millennia-spanning love story starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun called "Love Me." So if you're looking for what to watch this weekend, your search is over. Here are our picks for the best new movies on streaming to add to your watchlist. Working as a prequel and a sequel, the long-awaited sixth "Final Destination" film reinvigorates the franchise by taking its iconic premise to a new level: If death hunts down those who cheat fate, what happens when those survivors have children? While this generational angle adds a fun new layer, "Bloodlines" still delivers on all the inventive gore and over-the-top kills that fans have come to expect. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Like every movie in the series, "Bloodlines" kicks off with a jaw-dropping premonition where a character foresees a deadly catastrophe and manages to save a few would-be victims. The twist this time is that a survivor's grandchild, college student Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), finds herself in the crosshairs when death comes to collect his dues. The time gap works in the film's favor, making the familiar formula of death stalking survivors feel fresh again for one of the best entries in the series since "Final Destination 2." Buy or rent now on Amazon or Apple Parents everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief: you don't have to brave the Chicken Jockey frenzy in theaters to see "A Minecraft Movie" anymore, now that it's landed on Max. Whether you find this year's biggest blockbuster delightfully entertaining or an exhausting barrage of meme fodder depends on your taste, but it's hard to deny the cultural impact it's had. Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen star as a scrappy group of misfits who stumble through a portal into the pixelated world of Minecraft. To survive their blocky new world, their imagination will be put to the test as they team up with Steve (Jack Black), a seasoned crafter who's been stuck there for decades. Director Jared Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite") brings his signature offbeat humor, while Jack Black once again proves he's a comedic powerhouse capable of winning over a whole new generation of kids. Stream it now on Max What happens when a chart-topping music genre crashes headfirst into an animated realm crawling with soul-sucking demons? That's what we'll find out in "KPop Demon Hunters," Netflix's latest animated adventure. It's from the same animation studio behind the "Spider-Verse" films and "The Mitchells vs. the Machines," so if nothing else, this promises to be a stunning feast for the eyes. "KPop Demon Hunters" follows superstars Rumi (voiced by Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), who split their time between selling out stadiums and (what else?) slaying demons. But they're faced with their biggest challenge yet when a rival boy band turns out to be a group of demons in disguise. With the souls of their fans at stake, not to mention their reputation, the idols gear up to slay the day. Watch it now on Netflix Anyone counting down the days until "Wicked: For Good" will be excited to learn that one of Disney's most popular movies of all time, "Frozen," is getting the "Hamilton" treatment on Disney Plus. The musical tells the same story as the animated film, only in a live stage format. You'd be forgiven for thinking this is the Broadway version based on the title, but it's actually a taping of the show's West End production at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, which ran from 2021 to 2024. The show features 12 new songs written exclusively for the musical by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who co-wrote the songs for both "Frozen" and "Frozen 2." And of course, there's still all the original earworms from the movie, only this time with "Pretty Woman: The Musical" star Samantha Barks belting out "Let It Go" instead of Idina Menzel. Watch it now on Disney Plus For an offbeat romantic drama with a heavy helping of sci-fi, look no further than Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun's "Love Me." Set in a future where humanity has gone extinct, it follows an unexpected duo: a weather buoy (voiced by Stewart) that becomes self-aware after a brief encounter with a passing satellite (Yeun). Yearning for a sense of self, the buoy calls itself 'Me' and dubs the satellite 'Iam.' Me persuades Iam to study the remnants of the internet with her to better understand what it means to be human. Though Iam doesn't realize it, Me begins to construct new identities for them both based on social media posts from a once-living couple. As their bond evolves into something that resembles love, the cracks in their borrowed identities as well as their growing connection begin to show. Watch it now on Paramount Plus

This is the exact time to see Rachel Zegler's free Evita balcony performance in London

Right now there is only one thing taking over our TikTok FYP's and that is Rachel Zegler's truly breathtaking performance in Evita on the balcony of the London Palladium. But what time does she appear on the balcony? We've got all the details you need to know. ICYMI, Rachel Zegler is currently appearing in Jamie Lloyd's West End performance of Evita, the musical about Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. The musical, which features original music by Andrew Lloyd Weber, is known for its legendary song 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina' which is traditionally performed on a balcony on stage. But unlike other versions of the stage show, this time around Zegler, who plays Evita, takes to the balcony of the actual theatre and sings the iconic song aloud to the public on the street below, while the paying audience inside watch the performance on a screen. The artistic direction has divided many fans, with some praising the decision to showcase Zegler's talent with the world and providing a free moment to Londoners, while others are criticising the moment as theatre goers who have paid up to £250 to see the performance have to watch the biggest moment of the show from a live stream. But if you haven't paid to watch the show and fancy going to see Rachel's amazing performance up close then these are all the details you need to know. The Evita revival is taking place at the London Palladium. The full address for the theatre is 8 Argyll St, London W1F 7TF and the closest tube station is Oxford Circus. The show starts at 7:30pm in the evenings and matinee performances at 2:30pm on Thursday and Saturdays. The show runs for around 2 hours and 10 minutes. 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina' is the opening song of the second act and Rachel usually appears on the balcony at around 9pm on the evening performances. However, given how many people turn up to hear her sing (around 600 on some nights) we'd recommend getting down there a bit earlier in order to nab a prime position. Rachel will be doing the full 12 week run of the show, but will not be performing on these four Mondays: Instead Bella Brown will be performing the role of Eva Perón on those dates.
