Devendra Fadnavis launches NCM card for Mumbai Metro Line 3 passengers
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, in a move to unify the city's public transport system.
The contactless RuPay NCM card that can be operated from Wednesday allows passengers to ride seamlessly between Metro Line 3 stations, from Aarey JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk, without standing in long queues at ticketing counters.
It is completely interoperable with other key Mumbai Metro lines — Line 1, Line 2A, and Line 7 — along with other transportation systems like Chalo Buses, providing a smooth multi-modal travel experience.
The launch was held in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, and other senior officials.
The initiative by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) is being executed in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the State Bank of India (SBI).
The existing commuters who already possess NCMC cards from SBI or other players can use their cards on Line 3 from Wednesday, officials said. New riders may get a free card from any Metro Line 3 station or SBI branches that are participating, with a minimum top-up of Rs 100 and a maximum of Rs 2,000, they added.
Addressing the launch, MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide stated, 'The NCMC card integration in Mumbai Metro Line 3 is a significant milestone in our path towards smart and commuter-centric urban transport. Being the city's first totally underground Metro corridor, Line 3 is planned with future-proof infrastructure and this contactless payment solution with ease is an integral part of that vision. We are excited to collaborate with NPCI and SBI to facilitate a seamless, hassle-free travel experience for Mumbaikars and enable the Government of India's National Common Mobility Card programme.'

A CIDCO spokesperson said that CIDCO maintains its dedication to delivering superior transport services to passengers. The QR-based ticketing implementation represents a substantial advancement towards this objective, said CIDCO.

State Launches Maha-AASTHA to Digitise Employee Records
Nagpur: The Maharashtra government has launched a time-bound drive to bring every service record of state employees online through its new e-HRMS platform, Maharashtra Advanced Administrative System for Transparent Human Resource Administration (Maha-AASTHA). The initiative aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in maintaining government staff data, from appointment formalities to retirement benefits. According to a Government Resolution (GR) issued on June 20, all departments at Mantralaya must establish dedicated Maha-AASTHA cells by June 27. Each department is required to appoint a nodal officer (SPOC) and submit their contact details to the general administration department (GAD) by June 30. These cells will function as control rooms to oversee the transition from paper-based service books to fully digitized records. Updating service records has been made mandatory. All details—such as appointments, transfers, promotions, training, leave history, pension nominations, and disciplinary actions—must be uploaded to the digital service books by July 15. Officials clarified that this is not just a digitization initiative, but part of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis' 150-day administrative agenda, building on the earlier success of the 100-day plan. The goal is to eliminate delays in employee service processes through streamlined digital workflows. While the initial phase targets the Mantralaya departments, the plan is to eventually expand it to every government office across Maharashtra. Decision on loan waiver at appropriate time: CM
Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said a decision on farmers' loan waiver would be taken at the appropriate time. He said guidelines and set procedures must be followed while taking such a decision. The Mahayuti govt would not backtrack from any of the assurances it had given, Fadnavis told reporters here after attending the International Yoga Day event at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Opposition parties have been pressing for an immediate announcement of farm loan waiver to give relief to farmers in the state. Fadnavis said the govt would definitely take a call on the loan waiver at the right time. The chief minister said the govt was keeping a watch on the ongoing rainfall in the state and on water storages in all major dams. "Planning has been done on the release of water and suspension of discharge from dams. The govt is working in coordination with the neighbouring states on this. Our engineers have been deployed in these states. They are coordinating on water release and related developments," he said. Fadnavis praised SPPU for its inclusion among 600 top universities in the world.
