Yoga promotes harmony: Tripura CM Manik Saha explains importance of 11th IYD theme

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 21 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha explained the importance of the 11th International Yoga Day theme and said it will promote 'harmony' among people. Saha said that Yoga Day is being celebrated across Tripura.
Manik Saha asserted that he would like to tell the young generation that access to mobile phones and the internet is important today, but if the youth adapt to yoga as well, it will be very beneficial for their brains.
'It has been 11 years of #InternationalDayofYoga. Yoga is good for everyone. It will promote harmony...One Earth, One Health - this year's theme is very important...Everywhere across Tripura, Yoga Day has been celebrated today. I would like to tell the young generation that you do need to access your mobile and internet but if you adopt Yoga too, it will be good for your brain, body and we will be able to avoid several kinds of diseases. Yoga also improves the flexibility of the body...Everyone should do this every day, not just today', Manik Saha told ANI.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took part in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, where he hailed yoga as a gift 'beyond age' that transcends all boundaries and unites humanity in 'health and harmony.'
The event took place against the scenic backdrop of the Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government and extended his appreciation to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for hosting the event in Visakhapatnam. He lauded their leadership as 'inspiring' and described the state's initiative to promote yoga as 'commendable.'
'Yoga is for everyone beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness. Friends, I am truly delighted that we are gathered here in Visakhapatnam, a city that beautifully blends nature with progress. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Chandrababu Naidu Garu and Pawan Kalyan for hosting such a wonderful event under your inspiring leadership. It is commendable that the state of Andhra Pradesh has taken this meaningful initiative to promote yoga,' said PM Modi while addressing the gathering. (ANI)

Anantapur: As part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, the Anantapur district administration organised a large-scale 'Yogandhra' programme at the PTC Grounds. The event was marked by the participation of several dignitaries including District Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Boya Girijamma, Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh, Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma, and others who actively performed yoga asanas along with the public. The district-level event was synchronised with the main Yoga Day celebrations held in Visakhapatnam, which featured prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The Anantapur event was connected live to the Visakhapatnam celebration, following the official yoga protocol. Addressing the gathering, Collector Dr Vinod Kumar said that more than 5,037 individuals including public representatives, media personnel, and officials participated in the event at the PTC Grounds. In addition, around 10.87 lakh people across 6,040 venues in the district received training during the month-long Yoga Mahotsav with the help of trained instructors. He expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the programme, including the police, volunteers, NGOs, and media. He said that Yoga should not be restricted to one day, but should become a daily practice. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Boya Girijamma expressed joy over the participation of over 5,000 people in the district-level event. Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh also shared his happiness about participating and reiterated the need for daily yoga practice for a healthier Anantapur. Officials from AYUSH, DMHO, and other departments were honored with mementos for their contributions. The event concluded with a yoga pledge, the national anthem, and a mass selfie session at specially arranged selfie points, drawing enthusiastic participation from the public.

Hindupur: 'Focuson your breath and practice yoga daily to attain complete health,' urged Sri Sathya Sai District Collector TS Chetan, speaking at the Yogandhra programme held at MGM Grounds in Hindupur as part of the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations. The event saw participation from SP Ratna, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, yoga gurus, and numerous public representatives and citizens. Addressing the gathering, he said that International Yoga Day, celebrated globally on June 21, is a source of pride for both India and the world. He described yoga not just as a symbol of Indian heritage but as a pathway to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. He encouraged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily routine, highlighting that even 30 minutes of daily yoga at home could enhance physical health and mental peace. He praised the youth and the public for their enthusiastic participation and noted that such interest would spread awareness about health and well-being. 'A society that practices yoga every day will be a healthy society,' he remarked. The State Government has been actively promoting yoga awareness through the month-long Yogandhra Mahotsavam, conducted from May 21 to June 21, across Dharmavaram, Kadiri, Penukonda, Lepakshi,and other locations with theme-based yoga sessions. These were organised in collaboration with the AYUSH and Health Departments, reaching from district-level centers to rural areas. He thanked everyone involved in making the month-long celebrations a grand success. As part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, certificates and mementos were awarded to district and state-level winners of yoga competitions by the Collector. Dignitaries and participants also took part in the Swachh Andhra – Swarna Andhra initiative by planting saplings. The event witnessed large participation from local leaders and officials, including Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, former Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Municipal Chairman Ramesh, Penukonda RDO Anand Kumar, DMHO Fairoza Begum, Municipal Commissioner Mallikharjuna, TDP District President Vadde Anjanappa, as well as students, yoga instructors, and the general public.
