Trump Brags About Hosting Olympics and World Cup in Memorial Day Speech: ‘I Have Everything'

President Donald Trump used his Memorial Day speech on Monday to boast that he would be the sitting president when the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics come to the United States.
'Amazing, the way things work out,' Trump marveled. 'I got the World Cup, and I got the Olympics.'
Addressing a crowd after visiting the Arlington National Cemetery with Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, where he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Trump joked he was glad that he lost the 2020 U.S. Presidential election because he'd be able to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States Army.
'In some ways, I'm glad I missed that second term where it was, because I wouldn't be your president for that — most important of all,' Trump said before getting sidetracked. 'In addition, we have the World Cup, and we have the Olympics. Can you imagine? I missed that four years, and now look what I have. I have everything.'
Trump only managed to get through four minutes of his speech before taking a swipe at the previous administration, saying that while soldiers had laid down their lives for the 'most noble Republic ever to exist on the face of the earth,' he was now in the process of 'fixing' the country.
'That was a hard four years we went through,' Trump said to applause. 'Who would let that happen? People pouring through our borders, unchecked. People doing things that are indescribable and not for today to discuss.'
Still, Trump spent the majority of his address thanking the families of fallen veterans. 'Every Gold Star family fights a battle long after the victory is won,' Trump said. 'Today, we lift you up and we hold you high … Thank you for giving America the brightest light in your lives. It's what you've done. We will never ever forget our fallen heroes, and we will never forget our debt to you.'
It was a markedly more somber tone than earlier in the morning, when Trump posted an all-caps, run-on-sentence tirade on Truth Social complaining about immigration policies, 'USA-hating judges,' and 'monsters who want our country to go to hell.'
'HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, INCLUDING THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY THROUGH WARPED RADICAL LEFT MINDS,' Trump wrote. 'WHO ALLOWED 21,000,000 MILLION PEOPLE TO ILLEGALLY ENTER OUR COUNTRY, MANY OF THEM BEING CRIMINALS AND THE MENTALLY INSANE, THROUGH AN OPEN BORDER THAT ONLY AN INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT WOULD APPROVE, AND THROUGH JUDGES WHO ARE ON A MISSION TO KEEP MURDERERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS, GANG MEMBERS, AND RELEASED PRISONERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, IN OUR COUNTRY SO THEY CAN ROB, MURDER, AND RAPE AGAIN — ALL PROTECTED BY THESE USA HATING JUDGES WHO SUFFER FROM AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS SICK, AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR OUR COUNTRY. HOPEFULLY THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT, AND OTHER GOOD AND COMPASSIONATE JUDGES THROUGHOUT THE LAND, WILL SAVE US FROM THE DECISIONS OF THE MONSTERS WHO WANT OUR COUNTRY TO GO TO HELL. BUT FEAR NOT, WE HAVE MADE GREAT PROGRESS OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS, AND AMERICA WILL SOON BE SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN! AGAIN, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!'

Massie said his "side of the MAGA base" is made up of "non-interventionists" who are "tired from all these wars." President Donald Trump lashed out at Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, a fellow Republican, over his criticism of U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites and threatened to campaign for the person running against him in the Republican primary next year. Soon after the military operation amid the Israel-Iran war was announced on June 21, Massie said the move was 'not Constitutional' on X. 'He is a negative force who almost always Votes 'NO,' no matter how good something may be.' Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-California, had also introduced a resolution on June 17 to prohibit U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran war without Congressional approval. Describing the bombings of the three nuclear sites as a 'spectacular military success' Trump called Massie a 'lightweight' congressman who was 'weak and ineffective.' The lawmaker was one of two Republicans who voted against his tax bill in the House of Representatives last month. 'He'll undoubtedly vote against the Great, Big, Beautiful Bill, even though non-passage means a 68% Tax Increase for everybody, and many things far worse than that,' wrote Trump. Israel says it has destroyed Iran's internal security HQ

Israel's military destroyed the headquarters of Iran's domestic policing arm, expanding its blows beyond Tehran's military and nuclear facilities as it continues to bombard its Middle East rival, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday. 'Air Force planes have just destroyed the headquarters of the Iranian regime's internal security — the central suppression arm of the Iranian dictator,' Katz wrote Wednesday in a post on social platform X, according to translation. 'As we promised — we will continue to target symbols of power and strike the ayatollahs' regime everywhere,' he continued. 'The tornado storm continues to strike Tehran.' Iran's internal security operations include the country's massive Basij Resistance Force, which polices dissent in the country. The latest target comes days after Israel launched a surprise attack on Iranian nuclear facilities and military outposts, killing several officials and scientists and setting off retaliatory attacks from Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has argued that his country's strikes are crucial to ending a nuclear threat from the Islamic republic, which has long maintained that its uranium enrichment program is meant for civilian purposes. President Trump has meanwhile edged closer toward U.S. intervention in the military conflict to back up Israel. 'I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I'm going to do,' he told reporters Wednesday. 'I can tell you this, that Iran's got a lot of trouble.'
