Police confirm body found in Bangsar construction site is missing British tourist, no foul play suspected
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — The body of a man who was discovered at a construction site in Bangsar yesterday has been confirmed to be that of missing Englishman Jordan Michael John Johnson-Doyle.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that Johnson-Doyle's uncle identified the deceased based on his tattoo.
'It is hereby confirmed that the body found is that of Jordan Johnson-Doyle who was reported missing on June 2.
'The cause of death is that of chest injury due to fall from height following an autopsy conducted earlier.
'No criminal elements were found at the scene. The case is classified as a sudden death report,' he said in a statement here.
Yesterday, police confirmed that they had found the body of an unidentified man near the lift shaft on the lower level of a construction site at Bangsar Hill Park.
Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, had gone missing while on a solo trip across South-east Asia.
He had been travelling for the past year while working remotely as a software engineer for a US-based company.
He was last heard from on May 27, after sending his friend a photo from Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
His family grew concerned when they could not reach him by phone and saw that his social media accounts had gone silent, prompting them to file missing person reports.

Sabah assistant minister summoned by MACC as RM200,000 mining probe closes in on charges
KOTA KINABALU, June 23 — Another politician in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah state administration has been summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here today, the latest development in the mining scandal that began last year. According to news portal Info X, Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Assistant Minister Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy arrived at the MACC Sabah office at around 9am today, accompanied by two lawyers, to give his statement. Aside from Andi, two other men have been named in media reports as those who may be charged. Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Yusof Yacob — who heads the state's investment arm Qhazanah Sabah Berhad — was questioned by MACC Sabah for nearly four hours last Wednesday. The third individual expected to face charges is businessman Albert Teh, who had brought forward the series of videos that sparked the prospecting licence scandal. The alleged corrupt activities are believed to have taken place between 2023 and 2024, involving bribes totalling around RM200,000 in exchange for assistance in processing mineral exploration licence applications.

Vivy Yusof, husband to face 15-day trial over RM8 million criminal breach of trust charge involving Khazanah and PNB funds
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 — The Sessions Court today set 15 days of trial next year beginning April 13, for the case involving FashionValet Sdn Bhd founders Datin Vivy Sofinas, known as Vivy and her husband Datuk Fadzarudin Shah Anuar, who are facing charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM8 million in investment funds from Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). Judge Rosli Ahmad set the trial dates for April 13 to 17, May 18 to 22, and June 8 to 12, 2026. 'The trial will run for 15 days, and the court has set the next case mention for October 27,' said Rosli. Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin requested the court fix the trial dates agreed upon by both the prosecution and defence. Lawyer M. Athimulan is representing the couple. Wan Shaharuddin told the court that the prosecution will call 26 witnesses to testify. The accused, both 37, were not present in court today as their attendance had been exempted. On December 5 last year, Vivy and Fadzarudin pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing CBT in their capacity as directors of FashionValet Sdn Bhd. They were accused of misappropriating investment funds entrusted to them by Khazanah and PNB by transferring RM8 million from FashionValet Sdn Bhd's company account to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without the approval of FashionValet's board of directors. The offence was allegedly committed at Public Bank Berhad, Bukit Damansara Branch, 36-40 Medan Setia 2, Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara, here, on August 21, 2018. The charge, framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, provides for a minimum sentence of two years and a maximum of 20 years in jail, whipping, and a fine upon conviction. They also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of jointly and dishonestly misusing company property, namely, RM8 million in investment funds from Khazanah and PNB belonging to FashionValet Sdn Bhd under Section 403 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which provides for an imprisonment of between six months and five years, along with caning and a fine upon conviction. — Bernama

Youths nabbed in Penang for punching, biting policeman

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Two Malaysian youths believed to have been drunk were arrested in Penang yesterday evening after attacking and hurling vulgarities at a policeman who conducted a check on them. Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 30-year-old cop on duty detained the duo at 4.30pm after they were found acting suspiciously outside the gates of the Penang police headquarters. The two suspects, aged 19 and 20, were believed to be drunk and were brought to the guard post for further checks, he said. 'After they were brought to the guard post, the suspects began acting aggressively, punching the face and biting the chest of the policeman, leaving him with a swollen right eye and bruises on his chest. 'The suspects also hurled vulgarities at the cop. They were then arrested,' he said in a statement, adding that the youths had been remanded until Wednesday for further investigation. The case is being probed for voluntarily causing hurt and using insulting words with the intent of provoking a breach of the peace, under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, respectively.
