PFT's 2025 NFL post-minicamp power rankings
1. Eagles: The rich get richer. And a new dynasty could be emerging. 2. Chiefs: A Super Bowl loss will only make the Chiefs more determined to get another Super Bowl win. 3. Bills: The window is still wide open, but the Chiefs are still blocking full daylight. 4. Ravens: The window is still wide open, but the Bills and Chiefs are still blocking full daylight. 5. Lions: This year, the regular season will be harder. Which could make them better prepared for the playoffs. 6. Commanders: Have they done enough to close the gap with the Eagles? 7. Rams: A favorable schedule could put them in play for the No. 1 seed. 8. Texans: After two straight appearances in the final eight, they opted to make major changes in an effort to go farther. 9. Buccaneers: Arguably the most underrated team in the entire league, they have the talent to compete with anyone. 10. Broncos: Combining a Sean Payton offense with an improved defense could make things very interesting in the AFC West. 11. Packers: With a new CEO taking over, the pressure could slowly be building on the quarterback, the coach, and the General Manager. 12. Vikings: A proven roster with an unproven quarterback could make for a rollercoaster of a season. 13. 49ers: Don't be surprised if they rebound all the way to the NFC Championship, and possibly beyond. 14. Bengals: The front office continues to keep the team from being everything it can be. 15. Chargers: In most other divisions, they'd be the favorites to win it. 16. Steelers: They're going to skew one way, or the other. 17. Bears: The expectations are high again. Can they live up to them? 18. Seahawks: The Geno-for-Darnold swap was a bold one. 19. Cowboys: If they gave out Super Bowls for mismanaging the contracts of key players, they'd have more trophies than anyone. 20. Cardinals: There's a quiet vibe that they might be ready to contend. They'll have to prove it on the field. 21. Patriots: It's not crazy to think they can vault to the playoffs. 22. Jets: Even if Aaron Glenn can pull off a Lions-style culture change, it will take a little time. 23. Falcons: Michael Penix Jr. looked good in limited work last year. What will he do as the full-time starter? 24. Colts: Will the Daniel Jones era be a one-year thing, or a new beginning for him and the Colts? 25. Panthers: It's a huge year for Bryce Young. 26. Titans: Cam Ward could be the guy they need. If so, they'll rocket up this list once the games start. 27. Raiders: They're stuck behind three playoff teams in their division — and each of them look like they're ready to get there again. 28. Jaguars: Can Trevor Lawrence get back to what it once looked like he was becoming? 29. Dolphins: What have they done to get better than they were in 2024? 30. Giants: If the Giants got it right with Jaxson Dart, he should be able to win the Week 1 starting job. 31. Saints: Tyler Shough will need to be the real deal in order to keep them from being in position to have their pick of next year's quarterback crop. 32. Browns: It's almost like they try to come up with new ways to be dysfunctional.

MLB legend John Smoltz shares his thoughts on the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 6 opponent
This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Major League Baseball legend John Smoltz about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, and his thoughts on his favorite team and the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 6 opponent the Detroit Lions. "I'm a diehard Lions fan. I have one bucket list left in life. Well, I have two. I want to win the American Century Championship about as bad as anybody wants to win it. I'm going to be the oldest winner ever to win it. That's one of my bucket items," said Smoltz, "But the other one is that I'm a diehard Lions fan, and the last couple of years have brought hope. I want to see them go to the Super Bowl. I've seen every other team in Detroit complete a championship. I just hope I get to live that out." The Lions finished last season as the top seed in the NFC but were upset by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round. Multiple coordinators have left for head coaching jobs, and the Lions enter 2025 with high expectations. Kansas City will host the Lions for Week 6 on Sunday Night Football, seeking redemption after losing the 2023 season opener at Arrowhead Stadium. "I'm 58. I finally got to see a couple of playoff wins, but it's ended in the wrong category the last couple of years," said Smoltz, "So I think whatever they lost in their coaching, I think they can make up with the continuity of what those players believe in that head coach. I'm excited to watch them this year." The annual golf tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC and a first-place prize of $150,000 make the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world. Manchester City 6-0 Al Ain: New faces shine as City seal passage
Ilkay Gundogan scored twice as Manchester City sealed passage to the knockout rounds of the Club World Cup with a 6-0 demolition of UAE side Al Ain on Sunday. City joined Juventus on six points through two games and will play the Old Lady on Thursday for the top spot in Group G. MORE — Pep Guardiola praises Ait-Nouri, Echeverri, Gundogan Claudio Echeverri scored a wonderful free kick as City built a 3-0 halftime lead through goals by Gundogan and Erling Haaland. New face Rayan Cherki scored after the break, as did Gundogan and Oscar Bobb. Haaland also recorded an assist, as did new captain Bernardo Silva and Rodri. City kept nearly 75 percent of the ball producing almost four expected goals and out-attempting Al Ain 21-5. Phil Foden had a goal and an assist in the game, though everything didn't go perfectly to plan as Rico Lewis was sent off in the 88th minute for a tackle on Samuel Obeng. Guardiola called the referee's decision to show a straight red card, 'unnecessary.' MORE — How much prize money will each club get at Club World Cup? 'His leg was little bit high, but he was on the grass,' Guardiola said after the game. 'Touches the ball with the speed that they go through, your leg has to be a little bit high and the other player down. It was not intentional and it was a red card versus Crystal Palace after the referee came and said it wasn't a red card. Rico never had intention to hurt anyone. A little bit unnecessary, the red card. The referee is the boss and had other intentions, VAR checked it and we have to accept the decision.' Manchester City team news, focus OUT: Mateo Kovacic (foot) Al Ain team news, focus Al Ain found themselves 4-0 down to Juventus at halftime and ended up losing their opening game 5-0 as Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao each scored twice, along with Kenan Yildiz. 33-year-old Togolese striker Kodjo Laba, who led Al Ain this season with 20 goals in 21 games, had most of his side's best chances to score but two of his three shots were saved rather well. Manchester City vs Al Ain prediction In a sense, the Club World Cup is perfectly timed for Man City, who already had a handful of new players that need to get acclimated before next season, so the intensity (and quality) from them remains incredibly high. That spells bad news for Al Ain, and maybe everyone else in the competition. Manchester City 4-0 Al Ain.
