Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Duke Johnson II
Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Duke Johnson II When looking at the Alabama Crimson Tide's 2025 football recruiting class, there are few position groups altogether that stick out more than at linebacker. In the Crimson Tide's 2025 class, Alabama added a total of three linebackers, the highest-rated of which was Duke Johnson II, a talented prospect who was a two-way star in high school. Johnson was also one of the first names to commit to Alabama in the class, and comes to Tuscaloosa as a name that could very easily make an impact in year one as a true freshman. Here is everything you need to know about talented true freshman linebacker Duke Johnson II entering the 2025 Alabama football season. Duke Johnson II player information Position: Linebacker Linebacker Jersey Number: No. 15 No. 15 Height: 6'1 6'1 Weight: 220 220 Class: Freshman Freshman Hometown: Eastman, Georgia Eastman, Georgia High School: Dodge County Duke Johnson II career stats Johnson is not only new to Alabama this season, but the linebacker is also a new face to college football overall. The 2025 season will be Johnson's first at the collegiate level. Duke Johnson II 2024 stats As mentioned previously, Johnson is new to college football this season, but is however coming off a strong year at the high school level in which he played both ways at Georgia's Dodge County High School. Defensively, Johnson amassed 122 tackles and 11 TFL across 11 games, while the now Alabama linebacker also rushed for 1,097 yards and 22 touchdowns on 115 carries, along with eight receptions for 129 yards and another score, on offense. Duke Johnson II recruiting ranking According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Johnson was considered as the nation's No. 130 overall player in the 2025 class, as well as the No. 9 linebacker nationally. A four-star prospect who committed to Alabama back in March of 2024, Johnson was also considered the No. 16 player in the state of Georgia out of Dodge County High School. Duke Johnson II 2025 season outlook There is no denying that Alabama's 2025 linebacker class is one that could make an impact in Tuscaloosa for many years to come, with Johnson as the highest-rated of that talented group. As for 2025 in particular however, Alabama enters the season with two starters cemented at inside linebacker in the returning Deontae Lawson and Justin Jefferson, while Colorado transfer Nikhai Hill-Green is likely to play a massive role also. Because of this, Johnson is likely buried on the depth chart entering his true freshman season, meaning that the former four-star is not likely to see a significant amount of action defensively in 2025. However, Johnson is a name that could make an impact on special teams this season in some form. The ultimate guide for travelling on the Tube in a heatwave
Summer has finally hit the UK, with hot weather that will see the mercury climb as high as 30°C. It's so hot, in fact, that the previous record of 40°C, in July 2022, could be under threat. As much as we love a bit of heat and sunshine, it makes for some pretty sticky conditions when it comes to the morning and evening commute – with temperatures soaring on the Tube as well as above ground. To avoid a sweltering journey that sees you arrive at your destination drenched in sweat, you might want to opt for a route that will keep you as cool as possible. But which Tube lines have air conditioning? And which other train and transport services offer it? Only a handful of London Underground lines currently have air conditioning, and they are as follows: Circle Hammersmith & City District Metropolitan Elizabeth The good news is that the Piccadilly Line set to join the ranks of those lines with air con as its new trains come into service this year. The Bakerloo Line, Waterloo and City Line, and Central Line will also be getting air conditioned trains in the future but you might have to wait a while – particularly for the Central Line. Speaking on a Twitter post in 2019, Central Line head of fleet Steve Lammin said: 'We've improved ventilation systems on the current fleet. 'New trains are coming in early 2030, under the Deep Tube Upgrade Program which will be delivered with full air cooling systems.' Dates for the new Bakerloo and Waterloo and City Line trains have not been confirmed, and there are no plans for any upgrades to the Jubilee, Northern or Victoria Lines. Previous reports suggested the Bakerloo Line is the hottest of all during warm weather, but in August 2024 TFL revealed the Victoria Line had the hottest average temperature of 28.2°C – although this rose to 30°C between June and October. This was closely followed by the Central Line, with an average temperature of 26.7°C.. The Central Line is one of the hottest tube lines because of its age and depth beneath the ground. It is one of the oldest Underground routes in London and was opened as The Central Railway in 1900 with early extensions carried out in 1920 and in the 1940s. The line is a deep-level tube which means it is at least 20 metres underground and travels through two small tunnels to reach each station. This compact space and lack of ventilation stops the heat generated from dispersing and therefore keeps it contained. More Trending The old design of the tunnels also makes it difficult to create enough extra ventilation to have much of an effect. If you want to avoid a sweaty journey on the Tube, you can try any of the following transport services running throughout the capital, all of which are air-conditioned: Overground Northern City Thameslink Trams If you really can't avoid a non-air-conditioned route in hot weather, Transport For London offers the following tips on its website to make your journey easier. Carry water with you at all times Don't board a train or bus if you feel unwell If you feel unwell, please get off at the next stop and contact a member of staff at the next station or speak to the bus driver Where possible, consider retiming journeys to less busy times Passengers are also advised only to travel if absolutely necessary when temperatures rocket past the 40°C mark. Switch up your journey: As well as choosing different public transport, you could opt for a 'Boris Bike' in London, or similar cycle sharing scheme in your area. Why not make the most of the sun? Bring a fan: Whether you go analogue or electric, a handheld fan will save your life on a busy commute. Hack your clothes: If you have to wear a suit or something heavy, stick it in your bag before you get into the office. On the journey itself, look for clothes that are made of breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. Stay hydrated: As we've mentioned, it's important to drink plenty of water. The nearest tube stations to the venue are Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale, both about a 30-minute walk away. Conveniently, both are on the Victoria Line, so they are easily accessible from Oxford Circus, Kings Cross, and Euston stations. Several TFL bus services, including the W3, 149, 259, 279, and 349, stop at or near the venue. However, the stadium advises that on concert days, these routes may experience minor diversions due to road closures for the event. Need to reach the venue from East London? White Hart Lane on the Weaver Overground line is the nearest station to the Station, offering a direct connection from Liverpool Street. See more information from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium at the link here. The stadium doors open at 5 pm, with Beyoncé's anticipated to take the stage around 7.30 pm. However, based on her previous Cowboy Carter shows, she often begins her performance closer to 8.15 pm. Whilst nothing has yet been confirmed, given that Beyoncé hasn't had an opening act for her tour so far, there's no indication that this would change in London. However, rumour has it that Sir Paul McCartney may join Beyoncé on stage for her rendition of the Beatles song 'Blackbird', as well as support from her DJ. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has a restricted bag policy and requires all bags to be less than A4 in size (21cm long x 30cm high). Everyone knows that one of the best parts of going to a concert, is the pre-show itself. From getting ready with your friends, while blasting all of songs ahead of the gig, there's nothing quite like it. Whether you've already got a dedicated Cowboy Carter playlist or are still adding the finishing touches to your carefully curated playlist, Spotify are here to enhance that experience. The music streaming platform have created a limited-edition collection of playlist cover art stickers that you can add to your playlist throughout the tour. With designs that include cowboy boots, a Cowboy Carter sash and a 'TEXAS HOLD 'EM' license plate, you can easily access these by clicking the 'Create Cover Art' tool. London travel disruption this weekend: full list of tube and train closures for June 6-June 8
We're nearing the end of the week which means two things: you can definitely head to the pub after work tonight, and it's time for us to let you know about all the disruptions to travel you might face this weekend (June 6-8). There's loads of things you might be heading off to this weekend. Massive Attack are headlining a brand new festival, LIDO, taking place in east London, the Lambeth Country Show is back in Brockwell Park bringing a taste of rural life to the city, and gardens across the capital are opening up their gates for two days only as part of the London Open Gardens Weekend. Oh, and Beyoncés here. No biggie. You can find out specific details on how to travel to see Queen Bey here. If you'll be using any of London's many public transportation this weekend, here's what you should be aware of. Of course be aware that last minute changes and disruptions can happen, so always check before you travel on the TFL website or app. DLR On both Saturday (June 7) and Sunday (June 8), the DLR will be closed from both Bank and Tower Gateway to Canning Town and Lewisham. On the same days, there will also be no service between Canary Wharf and Stratford. Basically, if it's dark green on this map, it's shut this weekend. A replacement bus service will run between Westferry and Canning town. Waterloo and City line You know the drill. There's no service on weekends on the Waterloo and City line, ever. It runs from 6am on Mondays until half past midnight on Saturday mornings. Overground Mildmay line On Saturday (June 7) and Sunday (June 8), there will be a reduced service on the Mildmay line between Willesden Junction and Camden Road – these trains will only run every 15 minutes. Additionally, from Camden Road to Stratford, the line will be closed all weekend (June 7 and 8). Rail replacement bus services will run in places affected by these disruptions. For more info on those, you can check TFL's website here.
