Jordon Hudson reportedly demanded content approval, partial ownership of UNC 'Hard Knocks' before NFL Films killed project

An offseason version of "Hard Knocks" was supposed to cover Bill Belichick as he embarked on his first season as head coach of UNC. We now know why that project fell apart.
Shortly before NFL Films and HBO were set to announce the docuseries, Belichick's girlfriend Jordon Hudson demanded both content approval and partial ownership of the show, according to Katherine Rosman of The New York Times.

Rather than hand control of the long-running show to the 24-year-old Hudson, who has made no shortage of headlines this offseason at Belichick's side, NFL Films reportedly opted to pull the plug.
Producers reportedly learned after the fact that Hudson was in negotiations with another production company, EverWonder, to make a similar series. Per its website, EverWonder has been involved in a number of sports projects, most notably the production of Netflix's Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight.
It had previously been reported that Hudson played an instrumental role in killing the Tar Heel edition of "Hard Knocks," with one of the show's executive producers alluding to her demands to be heavily involved in the production of the series:
'The conversation took a turn we were not comfortable with.'
Not even NFL head coaches or general managers are granted final cut of "Hard Knocks" seasons covering their teams, as the show is ultimately controlled by the league itself. Belichick's inclusion would have been new ground for the series, but Hudson apparently wanted control over what would have been a very loud message about how his foray into college football is going.

That desire for control has turned into an unavoidable narrative over the past few months, most notably when Hudson stepped in to nix a CBS interview question about how she and Belichick met. Questions about her involvement in the UNC program have become loud enough that the Tar Heels have felt the need to release a statement confirming she is not a school employee, but she is welcome at their facilities.
And given that the Times reported Hudson has told at least one person that she and Belichick are engaged, she may be in this for the long haul.
The other area the Times reported Hudson's involvement in Belichick's professional life is a number of trademark applications in his name. Literally.
Because the trademarks for the coach's well-known catchphrases, such as "No Days Off" and "Do Your Job," are all held by his old New England Patriots team, Hudson has reportedly attempted to pull a Taylor Swift and applied for trademarks reading 'No Days Off (Bill's Version),' and 'Do Your Job (Bill's Version).'

Heading into his sophomore season with the New England Patriots, Drake Maye is looking to build on the success of his rookie year. Last season, he threw for 2,276 yards and 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He completed 66.6% of his passes while averaging just 6.7 yards per completion. The addition of superstar receiver Stefon Diggs and rookie Kyle Williams to the already budding Javon Baker and DeMario Douglas should help Maye expound on those numbers in year two. UNC basketball star amongst Top 30 prospects of ESPN's latest NBA Draft Big Board
Can Drake Powell carve himself out a successful NBA career? Though the UNC basketball team fell extremely short of expectations during its 2024-2025 campaign, one of its greatest surprises came in the form of Drake Powell. Initially starting his freshman season at North Carolina as a top bench option, Powell quickly cracked the starting lineup with his lockdown defense. The Tar Heels struggled to consistently drain perimeter shots, but Powell was one of his team's top 3-point shooters, recording a 37.9 percent mark from deep. Powell declared for the NBA Draft – and should be a late, first-round pick according to the latest Mock Draft. Powell is also ranked fairly high on ESPN's latest NBA Draft Big Board, landing 29th amongst a list of the Top 100 prospects. Just ahead of Powell is Walter Clayton Jr., the superstar guard who led Florida to its third national championship in April. Right behind Powell is German prospect Ben Saraf, whom ESPN lists as a point/shooting guard. Outside of lottery picks, it's rare for players to be chosen at their predicted spots. If Powell goes 29th overall, though, he'll be a member of the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix likely enters a hard reset this offseason, with its star-studded Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal trio falling extremely short of high expectations, so the desert could present a perfect scenario for Powell. If Powell decided for a return to Chapel Hill, he'd easily be one of the top players in college basketball this coming season. Powell's defense is NBA-ready, but he only averaged 7.4 points per game during his lone year at UNC, a scoring average that would certainly improve in Year Two. Advertisement Will Wade took a shot at the Wolfpack's rival, North Carolina, in a video that surfaced on social media over the weekend. He was talking about incoming transfer Ven-Allen Lubin, a forward who played just under 20 minutes per game for the Tar Heel last year. 'The other school was too dumb to play him,' Wade said to a group of NC State fans in the video. 'When [Lubin] plays 28-plus minutes — he's done that in 23 games — he averages 15 [points] and eight [rebounds]. I don't know why the hell they didn't play him, but we're gonna play him. So he's gonna average 15 and eight. We're very excited about Ven.' When he suits up for NC State basketball, Lubin will be on his fourth school in as many years. He averaged 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds for UNC last year, and as Wade pointed out, he showed an ability to connect from three while at Vanderbilt, his second stop. He shot 33% from distance in 2023-24 but did not attempt a three-point shot during his season in Chapel Hill. He also showed the ability while at Vanderbilt to step out and be a weapon from three-point range and we'll look to build off of that. Wade also pointed to Lubin's efficiency. He shot 68% from the field last season on 5.3 attempts per game. 'He's an incredibly efficient scorer, having led his team in field goal percentage each of his first three college seasons,' he continued. 'Beyond that, he has a high basketball IQ and will be a tremendous presence in our locker room.' NC State and North Carolina are only scheduled to play each other once in 2025-26, in Raleigh.
