'Ted Lasso' Star Nick Mohammed on Nate's Season 4 Future: ‘We'll Have to See'

Yahoo9 hours ago

Fans of the popular show Ted Lasso have gone on many emotional roller coaster rides with various cast members over the years. However, one significant name who went from an AFC Richmond hero to one of the team's biggest rivals is Nate Shelley.
Shelley, played by Nick Mohammed, earned the nickname "The Wonder Kid" after his quick rise from the team's kitman to assistant coach. However, Mohammed's character turned on Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, and ultimately became the head coach of West Ham, a team owned by AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton's ex-husband.
While the on-field rivalry between Shelley and Sudeikis was a primary storyline in Season 3 of Ted Lasso, the young coach realized there's no place like home. That season's finale featured Shelley returning to Richmond, accepting a job as the assistant kitman.
After how things transpired with Shelley's character, his status for Season 4 was up in the air. The Ted Lasso creators have kept much of the casting under wraps thus far, including a potential role for Shelley.
Mohammed was asked if his character would return in Season 4 during an interview with The Associated Press, and he remained cryptic about Nate's future.
"Who knows if Nate's still there, we'll have to see," Mohammed said with a smile. "Because, you know he's a great football coach who will probably have gone further afield by this point."
While Mohammed's comments didn't give anything away, his body language and smile throughout the conversation may have been a telling sign.
Considering Nate winds up back with AFC Richmond, it wouldn't be hard to put him back at the center of the show's storyline alongside the rest of the coaching staff.'Ted Lasso' Star Nick Mohammed on Nate's Season 4 Future: 'We'll Have to See' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 12, 2025

'Ted Lasso' Fan Favorite Brett Goldstein Calls Season 4 Announcement a ‘Relief'

Brett Goldstein has emerged as one of the many beloved characters in the Apple TV+ hit series Ted Lasso. He portrays the popular player-turned-coach Roy Kent, who has a gritty personality and doesn't love small talk. It seems Goldstein's disinterest in small talk during the show may translate to real life in some ways, specifically when it comes to being asked questions about Ted Lasso's future From the sound of it, Goldstein didn't exactly love fielding the constant questions on the topic of whether Ted Lasso would even return for a Season 4, before the news was officially revealed. He made that much known during a recent interview with Variety. When the topic of Goldstein no longer having to address the questions about the show's future when they arose, it sounds like they were tougher on him than the current queries he gets. "That is such a relief," Goldstein said of no longer having to answer questions about the show's future. Goldstein, who plays Louis on the hit show Shrinking, is also an executive producer and writer for the show. While he's in the same boat as the rest of the Ted Lasso cast, having to remain tight-lipped on Season 4, he did call it "exciting" to be back with the rest of the show's actors. "Obviously, I can't tell you a single thing about it, of course, but we're working on it, and it's good," he says. "It's exciting to have everyone back together." One thing fans can rejoice in is the fact that they'll be treated to more of Roy Kent in the upcoming season. Unfortunately, no specific release date has been set, but filming was slated to begin mid-July.'Ted Lasso' Fan Favorite Brett Goldstein Calls Season 4 Announcement a 'Relief' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 18, 2025
