Moroccan Bride Fatally Shot in Masked Attack in France
A Moroccan wedding celebration in the quiet village of Goult in southern France turned into a deadly attack early Sunday morning, leaving two people dead—including the bride—and three others seriously injured, according to AFP.
Goult, a small village in the Luberon region with fewer than 1,000 residents, is rarely the scene of such violence.
The shooting occurred around 4:30 am, just at the end of the wedding celebration. Four masked men then reportedly opened fire on the bride and groom's car, killing the 27-year-old bride instantly. Her 25-year-old husband and a 13-year-old child were among the wounded , along with the groom's sister. Two of the three injured remain in serious condition, though their lives are not believed to be in danger.
Although the bride and groom's identities have not been officially disclosed, they are confirmed to belong to the Moroccan community in France. Some media outlets have reported that the groom is known to the police, allegedly with 26 entries in France's judicial database related to organized crime and drug offenses.
One of the attackers was killed after being struck by the couple's car as they tried to flee, while the three remaining gunmen escaped and are still being hunted by police. A large-scale manhunt is underway, with authorities deploying helicopters, canine units, and forensic teams to track down the suspects.
An investigation has been opened for 'murder and attempted murder in an organized group.' Although no official motive has been confirmed, authorities suspect the shooting may be linked to drug-related crime.
Local Authorities reported that 28 people were considered 'involved' in the incident– implicating the guests who were still inside the wedding hall at the time of the shooting.
The local mayor, Didier Perello, described the attack as targeted and expressed shock and anger over the tragedy, as officials confirmed that the couple had reserved the wedding venue several months in advance.

Outrage Erupts After Moroccan Man Killed by Police in Spain
Residents of the Spanish town of Torrejon de Ardoz, just outside Madrid, have come together recently in protest and mourning over the killing of Abderrahim, a 35-year-old Moroccan man, at the hands of an off-duty municipal police officer last Tuesday. The official justification for taking Abderrahim's life is that he allegedly tried to steal the officer's phone. But many believe the true 'crime' was simply being a non-white immigrant in a society still steeped in racial prejudice. Abderrahim had lived more than half his life in Torrejón, where he met his tragic death. His family revealed he struggled with mental health issues and was under psychiatric care— an aspect that raises painful questions about the violent response he received. At the protest, powerful slogans echoed through the streets: 'Moorish lives matter,' 'Fascists out of our neighborhoods,' and 'These aren't deaths, they're murders.' These chants stressed the harsh truth that this was not an isolated act of negligence but part of a systemic pattern of violence. Those who knew Abderrahim remembered him as kind-hearted and fragile. 'There was no need to do what they did to Abderrahim, he was a kid who didn't even weigh 60 kilos; bending his arm would have been enough,' said one protester. Abderrahim's family joined the demonstrations, grief-stricken but firmly demanding justice. His father, Akkouh Mimou, voiced what many believe: 'If my son steals, the police should arrest him and bring him before a judge.' Those gathered around him echoed, 'Stealing is no reason to kill.' Video footage circulating online shows the officer applying a chokehold, his arm tightly constricting Abderrahim's neck, refusing to release him despite pleas from bystanders begging him to let him breathe. The officer was arrested on Tuesday for negligent homicide but was surprisingly released on bail two days later. The judge ruled there was no risk of flight, repeat offense, or evidence tampering. However, precautionary measures were imposed, including surrendering his passport and mandatory weekly court check-ins. Activists condemn the decision to release the officer while Abderrahim's family is left to bear the weight of a life unjustly taken for the remainder of their lives. 'It is unfair that the alleged killer is free. We demand recognition that this is neither an isolated incident nor negligent homicide,' said María Bennouna, director of SOS Racism Madrid platform. This tragedy painfully echoes the murder of George Floyd in the United States, where a Black man died after a white police officer pressed his knee into Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes, sparking global protests against police brutality and systemic racism.

Morocco Seizes 92.9 Kilograms of Cocaine in El Guerguerat
Rabat – Morocco's police, in collaboration with customs at the Guerguerat border crossing, foiled an international drug trafficking on Sunday, seizing 92.9 kilograms of cocaine. A security source said that border inspection and search operations enabled security services to discover a drug shipment that had been meticulously concealed in the cavities of the fuel tank of a Moroccan-registered international freight truck coming from a sub-Saharan African country. During the security operation, police arrested a 25-year-old suspect for his alleged involvement in the drug trafficking operation. Police opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the case and identify all individuals involved in the case. Moroccan police have been active in thwarting many similar operations across the country. In May, Moroccan police thwarted a drug operation, seizing 3.85 tons of cannabis that was concealed in two utility vehicles during simultaneous operations near Oued Zem, a city 156 kilometers from Casablanca. In 2024, police processed 92,346 drug-trafficking-related cases, arresting 119,692 individuals during a dozen security operations throughout the year. The arrested suspects included 287 foreigners. During the same year, police also seized 123 tons and 971 kilograms of cannabis resin, 1.94 tons of cocaine, and 16.53 kilograms of heroin. Tags: combat drug traffickingdrug trafficking
