A Moroccan wedding celebration in the quiet village of Goult in southern France turned into a deadly attack early Sunday morning, leaving two people dead—including the bride—and three others seriously injured, according to AFP.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 am, just at the end of the wedding celebration. Four masked men then reportedly opened fire on the bride and groom's car, killing the 27-year-old bride instantly. Her 25-year-old husband and a 13-year-old child were among the wounded , along with the groom's sister. Two of the three injured remain in serious condition, though their lives are not believed to be in danger.
Although the bride and groom's identities have not been officially disclosed, they are confirmed to belong to the Moroccan community in France. Some media outlets have reported that the groom is known to the police, allegedly with 26 entries in France's judicial database related to organized crime and drug offenses.
One of the attackers was killed after being struck by the couple's car as they tried to flee, while the three remaining gunmen escaped and are still being hunted by police. A large-scale manhunt is underway, with authorities deploying helicopters, canine units, and forensic teams to track down the suspects.
An investigation has been opened for 'murder and attempted murder in an organized group.' Although no official motive has been confirmed, authorities suspect the shooting may be linked to drug-related crime.
Local Authorities reported that 28 people were considered 'involved' in the incident– implicating the guests who were still inside the wedding hall at the time of the shooting.
The local mayor, Didier Perello, described the attack as targeted and expressed shock and anger over the tragedy, as officials confirmed that the couple had reserved the wedding venue several months in advance.

Rabat – Morocco's police, in collaboration with customs at the Guerguerat border crossing, foiled an international drug trafficking on Sunday, seizing 92.9 kilograms of cocaine. A security source said that border inspection and search operations enabled security services to discover a drug shipment that had been meticulously concealed in the cavities of the fuel tank of a Moroccan-registered international freight truck coming from a sub-Saharan African country.
