Death Stranding is getting an animated film

The strange world of Death Stranding just keeps on expanding. As Deadline reports, Hideo Kojima's ghostly, post-apocalyptic video game is getting a spinoff in the form of an animated film. While there aren't a lot of details yet, the animated feature will supposedly be in the same mold as other animated spinoffs like the recent Predator anthology on Hulu, which could be a good vehicle for Kojima's particular brand of weirdness.
Aaron Guzikowski, creator of the HBO series Raised by Wolves, has signed on as writer. 'I love the world of Death Stranding, it's so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful,' he said in a statement, noting that he would be creating 'new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe.'

Once only the purview of theme parks, intricately-designed popcorn buckets are now found at every movie theater advertising your favorite blockbuster. Disney World is still the king of the popcorn bucket, though Universal Orlando Resort has created some great ones in recent years. This new Universal Studios bucket for Super Nintendo World may be one of the best, and also the most complicated to bring home. Universal Studios Japan just debuted a brand-new popcorn bucket for its Super Nintendo World. It's a 'Bob-omb,' the anthropomorphic explosive device from the Mario games that looks like the classic cartoon version of a bomb, that might raise a few eyebrows when trying to get it through airport security. I mean, I have no idea what airport security would think if they saw this go through an X-ray machine. It might only scan as a hollow piece of plastic, but if anybody gave it a serious look, I can imagine some security officials having questions. It doesn't look like a 'real' weapon, but certainly the TSA could still take issue with it based on how other people might perceive it if they saw it. If the TSA can take issue with "thermal detonator" Coke bottles, then a "bomb"-shaped popcorn bucket is absolutely fair game. As somebody who was mildly worried I might have an issue when I brought my Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge lightsaber through airport security, I honestly might get nervous trying to transport this. Of course, if I was too nervous, that might be when security would get concerned. This may be one of the best popcorn buckets ever devised. First off, it looks perfect as a 'real' version of the Bomb-omb, which was introduced in Super Mario Bros. 2. However, it's also functional, as it makes for a simple receptacle for popcorn, and is even round, which is going to make cleaning the thing a lot easier. The only problem with the Bob-omb bucket is that right now, it's only available at Universal Studios Japan. That park had the first Super Nintendo World, so it's not surprising that it debuted the bucket. That said, we now have two Super Nintendo Worlds in the U.S.: a small one at Universal Studios Hollywood and a much larger version at the brand-new Epic Universe park at Universal Orlando Resort. One imagines that if the popcorn bucket proves popular, the design will make its way stateside. Currently, the only popcorn bucket available at Super Nintendo World on either coast is themed to Mario Kart. While it looks cool, I would buy the Bob-omb bucket in a second, even if I were going to have some explaining to do to get it home.

TV host Zhu Dan apologises for her "bias" towards young male co-stars

23 Jun - TV personality Zhu Dan found herself having to apologise to netizens after sparking a heated online debate over her perceived bias toward males. The whole issue sparked earlier this month, after Zhu Dan, who is on the reality show, "Wonderland", gave two chicken drumsticks from a bowl of chicken soup to actors Winwin and Zhou Yiran while making a comment that "the boys are still growing" in one episode. On the other hand, she handed over the smaller chicken wings to younger actress Ouyang Didi and Chinese star Ning Jing. When Ning Jing questioned the logic behind Zhu Dan's distribution of the pieces of chicken and asked if she loved the boys more, Zhu Dan directly responded, "A little." She also made a comment when Zhou Yiran mentioned that he would prefer to have a daughter instead of a son, saying, "Opposites attract; parents are instinctively biased toward children of the opposite sex... Fathers love daughters more, and mothers love sons more." In response to her statement, netizens took to social media to criticise the way of thinking, saying that such an idea should not be the norm. They also dug up a past interview where Zhu Dan said that she arranged for her six-year-old daughter to be in the same class with her three-year-old son so that the sister could take care of her brother. Many questioned Zhu Dan's parenting style of putting the responsibility of caring for another on her daughter when she is also just a kid. In response to the criticisms coming her way, Zhu Dan recently posted a message on social media, writing, "Over the past few days, I've heard a lot of voices. I'm very sorry that my way of expressing myself has caused significant controversy and made people feel uncomfortable." At the same time, she refuted reports about her kids, saying, "We have never let our daughter repeat a grade. 23 Jun - Alyssa Chia recently expressed elation to be a part of the Japanese movie, "Candlestick". The actress, who plays the role of a senior executive of a Taiwanese company in the movie, revealed during the premiere in Tokyo that the main reason she took the challenge was because no one has ever asked her to play this kind of villainous role before. "Another very important reason was that I was able to work with Japanese film king, Hiroshi Abe and that the film is about a highly complex AI financial fraud, which is very challenging," she said. On the other hand, Hiroshi, who also attended the premiere, said that the film has a lot of English dialogues in it, and that he is amazed by Alyssa's ability to digest the script so quickly and interpret it very well. "It's amazing. I look forward to working with her again," he confessed. Based on the novel "Soshikiri: FX Simulation Success Story" by Tetsuhiko Kawamura, "Candlestick" follows Nohara, a former genius white hat hacker who plots to deceive the impregnable AI that is the "guardian of the financial market" and make a fortune in the FX market after losing everything.
