Urgent recall of soups, rice and porridge over 'life-threatening' risk in US
More than a dozen varieties of soup, rice and porridge mixes have been recalled in the US for containing three undeclared allergens.
NatureMills US Inc is recalling 17 of its items sold nationwide because they contain wheat, milk and sesame, which were not listed in the labels.
The company based in Prosper, Texas, announced on Tuesday that 'people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these allergens run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products'.
NatureMills rice mixes under the recall include the Idly Chilli Powder, Sesame Rice Mix, Dal Garlic Rice Mix, Moringa Rice Mix, Curry Leaf Rice Mix, Vallarai Rice Mix and Horsegram Rice Mix.
Its affected soups are the Wonderberry Leaf Soup, Moringa Leaf Soup, Avarampoo Soup and Horsegram Soup.
Spice mixes and powders that are recalled include the Traditional Sambar Powder and the Traditional Rasam Powder.
The company's Black Kavuni Porridge Mix, as well as its Garlic Vadam, Tomato Vadam and Rice Papad, are also recalled. More Trending
NatureMills issued the recall after a routine audit found that the three ingredients were missing from the labels.
'The issue was the result of a oversight in the packaging process,' stated the notice from the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), which is responsible for protecting public health across the nation.
'Immediate corrective measures have been implemented.'
Consumers with allergies to the ingredients are advised to throw away the products and contact NatureMills for a replacement or full refund.

LGBTQ+ organisations have described the defunding of the suicide prevention service as "devastating" as Trump's administration plans to close helpline within 30 days The Trump administration is set to shut down a US national suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ young people in funding cuts. American non-profit suicide prevention organisation, The Trevor Project has described scrapping the the helpline as "devastating", but the administration has cited the service as "radical gender ideology". The suicide prevention service in place for LGBTQ young people says it will soon close, but a 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline will remain active with an option for LGBTQ youths available. The service has reassured that anyone calling will be treated with "compassion' and helped, but the hotline cuts to specific LGBTQ people has raised concerns for many. The Trevor Project has helped to run the LGBTQ+ helpline option, and the organisation has said the recent decision will be harmful, impacting vulnerable young people the most. Chief executive of The Trevor Project, Jaymes Black said 'suicide prevention is about people, not politics' and expressed concern at the announcement that the LGBTQ suicide prevention hotline will close down in 30 days time. Mr Black said: "The administration's decision to remove a bipartisan, evidence-based service that has effectively supported a high-risk group of young people through their darkest moments is incomprehensible." The funding cuts to the service in place for this 'high risk' group coincides with international Pride Month, where LGBTQ lifestyle and history is celebrated across the world. Cities across the globe feature Pride processions and events honouring LGBTQ culture in society. The news of axing the service also came in ahead of a US Supreme Court decision on June 17 concerning minors who identify as transgender. The state of Tennessee upheld a ban on healthcare help when transitioning. The general 988 Lifeline will still offer a helpline for anyone who is struggling with mental health. It provides free mental health support via call, texts, or a chat service. The 988 Lifeline is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in America. Any LGBTQ young people calling through currently can select option 3 from the menu to connect with specialised counsellors. Once the changes occur (in 30 days time) the general 988 Lifeline service will instead "focus on serving all help seekers", including LGBTQ young people. However, when the changes are in place, the hotline will no longer have a separate helpline for LGBTQ youth services. Officials from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposed the cuts to the 988 Lifeline's LGBTQ youth services in June 2025. Speaking to NBC News at the time, a HHS spokesperson said the specialised LGBTQ+ option was a "chat service where children are encouraged to embrace radical gender ideology by 'counsellors' without consent or knowledge of their parents". LGBTQ youth are "more than four times more likely to contemplate suicide than their peers, with 1 in 5 LGBTQ youth and more than 1 in 3 transgender youth reporting attempting suicide" reports suggest. But the helpline cuts come amid Trump's push to curtail other services specifically for transgender people across the government. Trump recently ordered the removal of transgender service people from the US military - and issued an executive order. The order being that the American government would only recognise males and females as 'two sexes' in society.

Nastia Borik, her grandmother and two young cousins were all reported dead following the Iranian blitz on a Bat Yam apartment building in Tel Aviv on Sunday. He could not accompany his daughter due to a government order barring men under the age of 60 from leaving the country during the conflict. Her tragic killing comes as tensions between Israel and Iran have reached cataclysmic heights, as a major Israeli hospital and an Iranian nuclear reactor were both blitzed this morning. Soroka Hospital in Beersheba was severely damaged when it was struck by an Iranian ballistic missile, with Israel reporting around 70 casualties overnight - some serious. The IDF confirmed it attacked an "inactive" plutonium nuclear reactor in Arak to "prevent it from being restored and used for nuclear weapons". After days of speculation, Trump on Tuesday night approved plans to attack Iran, but is holding off in case Tehran agrees to abandon its nuclear programme, reports the Wall Street Journal. If given the go-ahead, the plans would see the US join Israel in pounding Iran's nuke sites - which Tehran has warned would spark "all out war". Trump has become much more vocal on the conflict, though refuses to confirm his plans: "I may do it, I may not do it," he said on Wednesday. If the US does collaborate in the attacks, Iran's Fordow nuclear development area could be its first target. A fearsome 15-ton mega bomb known as a Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bomb could be used to strike the core of the plant, which Israel is unable to reach with its own weapons. Speaking to reporters from the Oval Office Trump acknowledged the US is the only nation capable of blitzing the key nuke site. But he added: "That doesn't mean I'm going to do it - at all." Trump also fired a two-word warning to Iran's Supreme Leader after revealing Tehran was trying to return to the negotiating table. When a White House reporter asked Trump about Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's declaration that he will "never surrender", Trump simply responded: "Good luck." Trump even directly threatened Khamenei as he said the US knows where he is hiding but will not kill him 'for now'. Khamenei responded by saying: "The battle begins. This nation will never surrender. 'America should know that any military intervention will undoubtedly result in irreparable damage.' US officials indicated the next 24 to 48 hours will be crucial in determining whether diplomacy could ever be achieved with Iran, ABC News reports.
