Texas A&M Faces Setback as star Utility player enters the transfer portal
The transfer portal has struck the Texas A&M softball team once again. This time, however, it involves a major contributor expected to play a key leadership role.
On Friday afternoon, in a shocking announcement, starting utility player Amari Harper entered her name into the softball transfer portal. The junior was a key contributor all season, routinely delivering clutch hits and showing emerging power by knocking out crucial home runs.
While the Aggies have a deep roster and should be able to fill the void, Harper's departure is still a significant loss, especially if head coach Trisha Ford can't find a way to bring her back next season.
Every athlete has their reasons for entering the portal, and even though this move is surprising, players must do what they believe is best for their future. Entering the portal doesn't necessarily mean Harper is leaving, but in today's NIL landscape, anything is possible.

Clemson is all over The Athletic's Top 25 ACC football players for the 2025 season

Clemson football will enter the 2025 season with no shortage of star power, and The Athletic's ($$$) latest ACC player rankings reflect just how loaded Dabo Swinney's roster is. Nine Tigers were named among the top 25 players in the ACC, with five of them ranked inside the top 10, including three in the top five and two in the top three. Edge rusher T.J. Parker leads the way at No. 1 overall after an outstanding 2024 campaign that included 16.5 career sacks, six forced fumbles, and a four-sack performance against Pittsburgh. He was also a key factor in Clemson's win over SMU in the ACC Championship Game. Fellow defensive lineman Peter Woods came in at No. 3. The 315-pound interior force recorded 28 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in his first season as a full-time starter. The Athletic's Manny Navarro described Parker and Woods as 'a two-headed monster' that gives Clemson a major advantage defensively heading into 2025. Quarterback Cade Klubnik was ranked No. 4, earning recognition as the top quarterback in the league. Klubnik made a major leap in efficiency last year and enters this fall with 36 career touchdown passes, the most among returning FBS quarterbacks. His supporting cast only adds to his potential, with standout receiver Antonio Williams ranked No. 7 overall and recognized as the ACC's top wideout after leading the league with 11 touchdown receptions in 2024. Cornerback Avieon Terrell gives Clemson five players in the top 10. He landed at No. 8 after posting 58 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and two interceptions last season, while also establishing himself as one of the league's most reliable run defenders. Clemson's presence continues deeper into the list, with offensive tackle Blake Miller at No. 12. The veteran lineman has started 41 games in his career and was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2024. Linebacker Wade Woodaz (No. 16), safety Khalil Barnes (No. 18), and sophomore linebacker Sammy Brown (No. 22) round out the Clemson contingent. Barnes has led the team in interceptions each of the past two years, and Brown — a former five-star recruit — was last season's ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. Sophie Cunningham slams WNBA treatment of Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Superstars in the sporting world are treated differently from their colleagues. Fair or not, it is just the way the world of sports works. They get scrutinized, treated differently by refs, treated differently by fans, and ultimately receive special treatment, sometimes in negative and positive ways, from opposing teams. Caitlin Clark is a certified superstar and the face of the WNBA, which subjects her to all of the above. Most recently, things got testy in the Indiana Fever's WNBA game against the Connecticut Sun, and tempers flared around Caitlin Clark. In response, Clark's teammate on the Indiana Fever, Sophie Cunningham, leaned into being a force of backup for Clark as she was seemingly fed up with the treatment that the star guard was receiving. She spoke up to the media about the unfair treatment Caitlin Clark is getting from the WNBA. "During that, it was just part of the game. I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build of for a couple of years now of them just not protecting, you know, the star player of the WNBA. So, at the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates. That's what I do, and I'm a team player," Cunningham said. Since the spat against the Sun, the Fever dropped their most recent game to the Golden State Valkyries to drop them to 6-6 on the season. Cunningham's defense of Clark has proven to excite fans of the WNBA and the Indiana Fever. Her jersey has since sold out on the Indiana Fever's official team store, while her social media followings have exploded. Wisconsin football lands commitment from class of 2026 in-state offensive lineman

Wisconsin football landed a commitment from class of 2026 in-state offensive lineman Aiden Dirksen on Saturday. Dirksen will join the program as a preferred walk-on. He accepted an offer that the Wisconsin coaching staff extended after his performance at the program's high school development camp last week. The 6-foot-6 interior offensive lineman is a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and plays his high school football for Bay Port. 247Sports has yet to assign him a star rating or position ranking. 'First off, I would like to Thank God for blessing me with these opportunities that he has put in front of me," Dirksen wrote on X. "I also want to thank my family for supporting me on this long journey. I want to thank Coach Steven Jorgensen and the rest of the coaching staff at Bay Port football for pushing me to my limit and preparing me for this opportunity while molding me into the player I am today. I also want to give a thank you to all of my teammates who have been a huge role in preparing me for my football journey. With that being said, I am extremely blessed to announce that I have committed to the University of Wisconsin!" Dirksen will arrive on campus with a Wisconsin recruiting class that currently ranks No. 36 in the nation with 13 scholarship players committed. One of those scholarship players is from the state of Wisconsin: three-star linebacker Ben Wenzel.
