Telangana man tries to pull off Dragon movie-like scam to land job at software company; gets caught in 15 days
Anyone who has watched Ashwath Marimuthu's Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dragon remembers the scene that exposes innovative ways youngsters cheat during video interviews to land jobs. A TOI report states that a Telangana man tried to pull off a similar scam even before the film was released, only to be caught in 15 days. The report states that a software engineer from Telangana, Rapa Sai Prashanth, used an impostor to land a job at Infosys in Bengaluru. However, the man in his 20s was caught in 15 days, and the company terminated his job after they noticed inconsistencies. A complaint was also filed at Adugodi police station for cheating and impersonation under the IT Act and sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A senior police officer told the publication, 'Prashanth is from Telangana. After he was sacked from work, he went to Hyderabad. However, he insists that he be paid for his 15 days of work. We're trying to nab him.' Kishore, the accounts manager of Sampradaa Software Technologies, which offers recruitment services to Infosys, filed the complaint.
The complaint states that Prashanth got his friend to impersonate him during the virtual interview with the company. He got his offer letter on January 2, but Infosys noticed someone else had appeared for the interview instead of Prashanth after he began working.
For the unversed, Pradeep's D Raghavan, aka Dragon, gives big bucks to an agency to help him land a job. After obtaining a fake degree, he cheats during the video interview, which is set up in a fake bedroom at the agency. An imposter speaks for him in fluent English as he pretends to lip-sync during the interview, successfully cheating Gautham Vasudev Menon's Vale Kumar. Eventually, he admits to his mistakes at the film's end when he is overcome by guilt.

Missing 13-Year-Old Boy Traced To Instagram Influencer Event, Reunited With Family
New Delhi: A 13-year-old boy who went missing from central Delhi left his parents anxious and police scrambling, only to be found the next morning at an Instagram influencer meetup in east Delhi's Anand Vihar. While his mother was busy with chores, he quietly left home, spent the night outside and headed to the event the next morning, drawn by his interest in Haryanvi rap and social media fame. "The boy left home around 5 pm on Saturday without informing anyone and did not return till late night, prompting his anxious parents to report the matter to police," DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan said. A case of kidnapping under Section 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was subsequently registered at the Prasad Nagar police station. The teams launched an immediate and wide-ranging search both on the ground and across digital platforms. "While field units checked vacant buildings and alerted local informers, another team began monitoring the boy's online activity. Espionage case: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra's judicial custody extended by two weeks
A court in Hisar on Monday (June 24, 2025) extended the judicial custody by 14 days of social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra arrested last month on the suspicion of espionage. The Hisar Police arrested Malhotra, who ran a YouTube channel 'Travel with JO', on the suspicion of espionage on May 16. Hailing from Hisar, the Youtuber was arrested at the New Aggarsain Extension and booked under provisions of the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Malhotra's lawyer Kumar Mukesh said, "Her judicial remand has been further extended by 14 days and the next date of hearing has been fixed by the court on July 7." The 33-year-old YouTuber appeared before the court through video-conferencing, he said. Earlier on June 9, another court here had rejected her regular bail plea. Police had opposed the bail and argued that the investigation in this case was still going on. After her arrest on May 16, Ms. Malhotra was remanded to five days of police custody by the court. Following the completion of the remand, the court extended the custody by four more days after the police sought to question her further. On May 26, the court remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days, which was further extended later. The Hisar Police previously said no evidence had emerged to indicate Ms. Malhotra had access to any military or defence-related information but claimed she was in contact with some people, aware that they were Pakistani intelligence operatives. Police sources had previously said she was in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staffer at the Pakistani High Commission, since November 2023. India expelled Danish on May 13 for allegedly indulging in espionage. Police had last month claimed that Pakistani intelligence operatives were developing Malhotra as an "asset".
