Thiagarajan takes a gracious stand regarding his song being use by 'Tourist Family' team, refuses any copyright dispute

Veteran filmmaker Thiagarajan recently addressed the unexpected use of the iconic song 'Malaiyuru Naattama…' from his film 'Mappillai' in the recent hit movie 'Tourist Family.' The song, originally picturized on his son Prashanth , was featured in a light-hearted scene where actor Sasikumar dances along with his on-screen children. While the scene and song quickly gained popularity online and trended across platforms, many were curious about whether proper permission had been sought for its inclusion. Thiagarajan responds with positivity In a candid interview with Indiaglitz, Thiagarajan revealed that the 'Tourist Family' team had not obtained official permission to use the track. Despite this, he expressed no resentment. 'I didn't give them any approval, but I was happy to see the song being embraced by audiences again. I even congratulated the film's team,' he said. According to him, several people advised him to take legal action or demand royalties, but he firmly dismissed the idea. A rare gesture of gratitude Demonstrating rare magnanimity, Thiagarajan went on to say, 'If anything, I should be the one paying the 'Tourist Family' team. Their use of the song brought it back to life and connected it with a whole new generation. That's something to be celebrated, not contested.' He emphasized that his priority is the joy that music brings to people, not legal or financial disputes over copyright. A stand for artistic freedom The filmmaker further declared that he has no intention of claiming copyrights for any songs from his past films, even if others use them in future projects. 'It gives me happiness to see my work still appreciated after so many years. I won't ask for money now, and I never will,' he stated. No secrets from law, Karnataka HC raps PhonePe on lost money

BENGALURU: Noting that privacy should be maintained but cannot be wielded as a shield against lawful investigation, High Court dismissed the petition filed by PhonePe Private Limited, questioning the summons issued by CEN police of Bengaluru Rural District to provide details of transactions of the complainant, who lost money after paying through several payment gateways for cricket betting. 'The submissions of the petitioner's counsel that information that is to be kept confidential need not be divulged, cannot be accepted. The protection of consumer privacy cannot eclipse the lawful imperative of investigating officers to secure evidence and take the investigation to its logical conclusion. Confidentiality must coexist with accountability,' said Justice M Nagaprasanna, rejecting the petition filed by PhonePe Private Limited. It further said that today, conventional crimes have receded and new-age crimes have sprung up in large numbers. New-age crimes are cybercrimes, modern offences which demand a swift, and effective response. The police must be empowered within the limits of law to unearth digital footprints that could otherwise vanish. Therefore, while privacy as contended by the petitioner should be maintained, it cannot be wielded as a shield against lawful investigation, the court said. CEN police issued summons dated December 7, 2022, to PhonePe to provide details after receiving a complaint from Prashanth, a resident of Chikkamagaluru district, that he lost funds while transacting through several payment gateways for cricket betting. However, PhonePe contended that it is protected under the Bankers' Books Evidence Act, 1891, and cannot divulge the information.

Telangana man tries to pull off Dragon movie-like scam to land job at software company; gets caught in 15 days

Anyone who has watched Ashwath Marimuthu's Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dragon remembers the scene that exposes innovative ways youngsters cheat during video interviews to land jobs. A TOI report states that a Telangana man tried to pull off a similar scam even before the film was released, only to be caught in 15 days. (Also Read: Simbu plays manmadhan in my film, reveals Dragon director Ashwath Marimuthu) The report states that a software engineer from Telangana, Rapa Sai Prashanth, used an impostor to land a job at Infosys in Bengaluru. However, the man in his 20s was caught in 15 days, and the company terminated his job after they noticed inconsistencies. A complaint was also filed at Adugodi police station for cheating and impersonation under the IT Act and sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A senior police officer told the publication, 'Prashanth is from Telangana. After he was sacked from work, he went to Hyderabad. However, he insists that he be paid for his 15 days of work. We're trying to nab him.' Kishore, the accounts manager of Sampradaa Software Technologies, which offers recruitment services to Infosys, filed the complaint. The complaint states that Prashanth got his friend to impersonate him during the virtual interview with the company. He got his offer letter on January 2, but Infosys noticed someone else had appeared for the interview instead of Prashanth after he began working. For the unversed, Pradeep's D Raghavan, aka Dragon, gives big bucks to an agency to help him land a job. After obtaining a fake degree, he cheats during the video interview, which is set up in a fake bedroom at the agency. An imposter speaks for him in fluent English as he pretends to lip-sync during the interview, successfully cheating Gautham Vasudev Menon's Vale Kumar. Eventually, he admits to his mistakes at the film's end when he is overcome by guilt.
