Ahead of M3gan 2.0 release date, actress Allison Williams reveals her worry about AI replacing humans

Mint4 hours ago

In M3gan 2.0, the sequel to the sci-fi horror M3gan, actress Allison Williams returns as Gemma. She plays a roboticist who now fights against unsafe AI after her earlier creation turns deadly. Ahead of the M3gan 2.0 release date, she spoke to The Guardian.
When asked if she fears AI replacing actors, Williams reveals about her 'worrying' nature.
'If you ask me any question that starts with: 'Are you worried?' the answer is always yes, because I have an endless capacity to be worried about things,' she told The Guardian.
Anyway, she believes humans may eventually be replaced. She thinks AI still can't fully copy true human creativity, at least not yet. While she is worried about AI replacing artists, it's way down on the list.
Williams has a deep interest in AI and even knows OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman. While researching for her character Gemma, she spoke to robotics experts.
M3gan also questions children's exposure to tech. Williams, a mother, recalls using ChatGPT to explain rocket launches to her 3-year-old son. His excited reaction made her realise how quickly kids get hooked on tech. She immediately felt uneasy and decided it'd be better to use books next time.
After her parents die in a car crash, eight-year-old Cady moves in with her aunt Gemma, who works at a toy company in Seattle. Gemma has been secretly building M3gan, a life-size robot doll powered by AI. It is meant to be a perfect friend for kids.
When M3gan is paired with Cady, it works better than expected. But, soon, M3gan becomes too protective, killing anything that seems like a threat to Cady.
As Gemma realises the danger, she tries to shut M3gan down. But, it fights back, even killing Gemma's boss and trying to attack Gemma and Cady at home. In the final fight, Cady and Gemma destroy M3gan using another robot.
Though M3gan seems gone, a camera in the house switches on mysteriously, hinting she may still be active.
M3gan can be watched on OTT platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

Vijay's Film Career Ending With Jana Nayagan? Mamitha Baiju Sets the Record Straight

Last Updated: Vijay announced his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, in February 2024. Speculation surrounds H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan being his last film. Ever since Vijay launched his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February 2024, there have been rumours that Jana Nayagan might be his last film. His co-star Mamitha Baiju was recently asked if she had spoken to him about it, and she shared her thoughts on the topic. While attending the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, Mamitha Baiju was asked if Vijay plans to quit acting soon. Responding in Malayalam, she shared, 'One day, when we were shooting together, I casually asked him whether Jana Nayagan is truly his last movie. Vijay sir candidly responded that it will depend on how the elections go. He said, we'll see what happens." Mamitha added, 'In the last days of shooting, I got very emotional along with everyone else, and on the final day, he got emotional too." Mamitha also mentioned that Vijay became quite emotional during the shoot, so much so that he couldn't even pose for photos with the team. A clip of her response is now going viral online. Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, brings together an exciting ensemble cast led by Vijay, Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol. The film also features big names like Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani in pivotal roles. To mark Vijay's 51st birthday on June 22, the makers released a teaser titled The First Roar, which quickly gained traction online. In the teaser, Vijay is seen in a police avatar. Vijay was last seen in The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT), a sci-fi drama directed by Venkat Prabhu, where he played both father and son. Co-starring Sneha and Meenakshi Chaudhary, the film is currently streaming on Netflix. Jana Nayagan is scheduled for a grand release on 9 January 2026. Interestingly, Mamitha Baiju, who shares her birthday with Vijay, is also juggling several other projects, including the highly anticipated Suriya 46. As speculation continues around whether Jana Nayagan will be Vijay's final film before he shifts full-time to politics, much will depend on the outcome of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026. Spider Man meets Punisher: Bernthal joins Holland in Marvel 'Brand New Day'

In a move that's already sending shockwaves through the Marvel fandom, Jon Bernthal is officially returning as the Punisher — and this time, he's joining forces with Tom Holland's Spider??'Man in the upcoming MCU film Spider??'Man: Brand New Day. The gritty antihero's entry into Peter Parker's world marks a major tonal shift for the beloved franchise, promising a darker, high-stakes chapter in the web-slinger's journey. Fans can expect intense clashes, uneasy alliances, and the return of Bernthal's raw, hard-hitting take on Frank Castle. Bernthal's return as Frank Castle comes after his breakout portrayal of the Punisher in Netflix's Daredevil and his own spin-off series, where he won praise for his intense, emotionally complex performance. Now, his crossover into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe signals a bold narrative shift for Spider??'Man, who is rumoured to face morally grey dilemmas and street-level threats unlike anything seen in his previous solo outings. The film is expected to explore darker themes, setting the stage for one of Peter Parker's most challenging arcs yet. Brand New Day plot: A darker twist on a classic arc While Marvel remains tight-lipped about the storyline, Spider??'Man: Brand New Day is said to draw inspiration from the controversial comic arc of the same name, which explored the consequences of Peter Parker's secret identity being exposed. With Frank Castle now in the mix, the film is expected to explore a world where justice isn't always black and white — forcing Peter to question not only his role as a hero but what it means to stand for something in a world without clear lines. Following the events of No Way Home, which left Peter Parker isolated and forgotten, Brand New Day will reportedly delve into his psychological fallout. Stripped of support and trust, he now operates in the shadows — a lone figure in a city spiralling into chaos. Enter the Punisher: a symbol of vengeance whose brutal methods could either break Peter or push him to evolve. A clash of ideologies: Spidey vs the Punisher The heart of Brand New Day is expected to be driven by the ideological tension between Spider??'Man and the Punisher. While Peter believes in redemption and moral restraint, Castle is infamous for his violent, no-compromise approach. Their uneasy alliance is likely to test both men's limits, echoing comic book arcs where they often clashed as much as they collaborated. This dynamic opens the door for gritty storytelling rooted in real-world consequences — the kind of grounded, character-driven narrative Marvel fans have been craving since the Netflix Defenders era. With organised crime on the rise and the city's moral compass in flux, Spidey and Castle may find themselves fighting the same enemies — but on opposite terms. When can fans expect the film? Spider??'Man: Brand New Day is set to begin filming this summer in England, with Destin Daniel Cretton — known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings — at the helm. The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 31, 2026, marking a new era for Tom Holland's Spider??'Man. With a fresh creative voice, the return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher, and a storyline leaning into darker, more grounded themes, the stage is set for one of the most daring and emotionally charged Spider??'Man films yet.
