Arsenal in talks with Partey over new deal as Jorginho and Sterling depart
LONDON: Arsenal are in talks with Thomas Partey to extend the midfielder's contract, the club said Wednesday, while confirming the departure of a slew of other players including Jorginho and Raheem Sterling.
Partey's contract is due to expire on June 30 and Arsenal said 'discussions are on-going.'
The Ghana international has been with Arsenal since 2020.
Italy midfielder Jorginho, Scotland left back Kieran Tierney, Brazilian goalkeeper Neto and Sterling — at one stage a key player for England — are among those confirmed to be leaving Arsenal.
Sterling was only on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
Arsenal have just finished second in the Premier League for the third straight season.

British and Irish Lions Lose Their Australia Tour Warmup to Argentina
First the good news for the British and Irish Lions: They didn't appear to suffer any tour-ending injuries against Argentina on Friday. The bad news: They lost to Argentina 28–24 in the warmup to their nine-game tour of Australia. The result, humbling for now, will be regarded as a minor setback – maybe even an inspiration – if the Lions go on and win the three-test series against the Wallabies. The Lions led the Pumas for only 12 minutes in the entire match and had two prime attacking chances in the last four minutes. But their lineout maul was stopped in its tracks, then a Lions penalty in front of the posts was overturned due to a neck roll by Tadhg Beirne. Despite a training camp in Portugal that was meant to help cement combinations, and nine English starters, the Lions still looked less cohesive and determined than Argentina, which was missing a dozen front-liners and had only two proper training runs. The Pumas beat the Lions for the first time in a history between them that goes back to 1910. They also warmed up the 2005 Lions in Cardiff and suffered heartbreak when Jonny Wilkinson landed a penalty in the 87th minute for a 25–25 draw. No draw this time. The Pumas were ruthless with their chances and matched the Lions with three tries. Two tries from inside their own 22 were the game's highlights.

Wolves Sign Attacking Midfielder Fer Lopez From Celta Vigo On 5-Year Contract
Wolverhampton has signed attacking midfielder Fer Lopez from Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo on a five-year contract, the Premier League club said Friday. The 21-year-old Spaniard is the first summer signing for Wolves and follows forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, who also joined the English team from Celta last year. The transfer fee is reportedly worth 19.5 million pounds (26 million dollars). Lopez made 20 appearances for Celta after making his senior debut in October, scoring four goals and helping the club to finish seventh in La Liga. It is a return to England for the product of the Celta academy, who spent four months at a school in Stowmarket in Suffolk at age 15. 'It's an amazing opportunity for my career to play in the Premier League, and I'm very happy,' Lopez said. 'The club told me and (manager) Vitor (Pereira) told me that they thought I was a good fit in the squad.'
