Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Director (Intelligence/Operations) Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, in their 40s and 20s, were involved in house, factory and courier hub robbery cases across several states, including Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Perak.
Advertisement 'The 40-year-old suspect had 76 criminal records related to narcotics and violence, while the other suspect had 11 similar criminal records,' he told reporters at the condominium's parking area just after midnight. Negeri Sembilan Police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof was also present. Fadil said during the incident, the suspects attempted to flee in a silver-coloured car before being intercepted by police, resulting in a shootout where the police vehicle was struck by gunfire from the suspects. He said no officers were injured and authorities believe the group may also be linked to violent crimes in other states. Fadil said that in the incident, police also found two firearms — a semi-automatic pistol and a revolver. He also believed the criminal group was involved in a robbery at a courier centre in Klang about two months ago, and based on records, they were also linked to secret society activities. According to him, police are actively hunting down the remaining members of the group through a series of raids at several residential units around Selangor. 'The raids involved arrests and drug seizures, with further details to be provided later,' he said. Fadil said the suspects were believed to have been moving frequently, renting units at the condominium here as temporary hideouts. 'There are many other locations... the suspects were believed to have rented a Toyota vehicle, and the registration plate was only used today. We believe the car's registration plate was replaced every two days,' he said. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Police Probe AI-Manipulated Viral Video Featuring Former IGP
SHAH ALAM, June 21 (Bernama) -- The police are investigating a viral video showing an individual resembling former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah, allegedly linked to the receipt of financial aid from a person with the title 'Datuk'. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the video, which began circulating on the TikTok social media platform on June 20, was fake and had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. 'The video, which purportedly links the former police chief to the receipt of financial assistance from an individual named Datuk Abdul Ghani, and that the money had been deposited into a bank account, is completely untrue and baseless. 'The Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters stresses that the 13th Inspector-General of Police never issued any statement as depicted in the video,' he said in a statement today. Hussein said Acryl Sani had lodged a police report denying that the video contained any official statement from him. He also advised the public not to share the video and urged them to verify the authenticity of any content before believing or disseminating it on social media. 'Selangor police take seriously the misuse of technology, such as AI, for the purpose of fraud or slander that could damage the reputation of any party. Firm action will be taken against those involved in spreading this fake content,' he said. The case is being investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. -- BERNAMA

Photographer's Car Damaged By Explosion Debris While Covering Fire In Masai, Johor
By Nur Fatin Mohmad Kadenen JOHOR BAHRU, June 21 (Bernama) -- A car belonging to a photographer from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) was damaged after being hit by explosion debris while he was covering a fire at a lorry and engine oil storage facility at Jalan Cenderai 27, Taman Kota Puteri, Masai, here today. Mohd Hilmizudin Daud, 34, who is based at the Johor Bureau, did not expect that debris from the explosion would damage his Perodua Kelisa, which was parked about 100 metres from the scene. He said the debris broke the left-side wing mirror and left dents and scratches on the same side of the car. Mohd Hilmizudin, a father of one who is expecting a second child in early July, said he had no choice but to come to terms with the damage to the car that had been his faithful companion on countless assignments for the past three years. 'I only realised my car was damaged around 7 pm after I had completed my assignment. While I was shooting, there were many explosions and barrels even flew into the air, which I managed to capture. 'When I reached my car and started the engine to reverse, I noticed the left wing mirror was missing. Initially, I thought it had been folded back because someone might have leaned against the car,' he told Bernama. Mohd Hilmizudin said he had rushed to the scene with his colleague, reporter Nur Fadhliana Shaari, at around 2 pm after being informed of the incident. He was relieved that they were not injured while at the scene. 'This is the first time something like this has happened in my 11 years as a Bernama photographer.
