Wisconsin Public Service wrapping up historic power restoration efforts after ice storms
(WFRV) – After ice storms plagued many Wisconsinites last weekend, knocking out power for more than 190,000 households, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) says it's almost done with the effort.
According to a release, over 190,000 people lost power from the 'destructive snow, ice and wind storm over the weekend.'

WPS thanked its customers for their patience and said that field workers throughout the Midwest are helping through the restoration efforts, which the company said is one of the largest in its history.
All customers who can receive their service are expected to have it restored later tonight (Thursday, April 3).

Some customers may have damage to equipment that could prevent power reconnection, and if so, the customer must hire an electrician or qualified contractor to repair this before reconnection is possible.

Wisconsinites will have another chance to see the northern lights heading into the June 13 weekend. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a geomagnetic storm watch for June 14, and the lights may be visible throughout the state on June 13 and 14, according to the NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center. Both forecasts have a Kp index of four. For indexes in this range, lights will likely be "brighter and there will be more auroral activity" — if they make an appearance — since they're moving further from the poles, according to the SWPC. The SWPC says the lights are typically best 'within an hour or two' of midnight, meaning you should keep an eye out between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. You should also head away from city lights and seek high vantage points for a better chance of catching a glimpse. (WFRV) – As smoke and haze continue to linger from wildfires in Canada, the Wisconsin DNR has extended the Air Quality Advisory another day for most of Wisconsin. The advisory extension now lasts until Friday, June 6, at 12 p.m., as the DNR's Air Quality Index remains in the Orange, or 'unhealthy for sensitive groups.' Affected counties include Brown, Door, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Milwaukee, Oconto, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha. Celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Wisconsin State Park System during June's Free Fun Weekend Officials recommend that anyone who falls into the 'sensitive groups' to make outdoor activities shorter and less intense, while including more breaks. It is also recommended to watch out for symptoms, including excess coughing or shortness of breath.
