Opposition should acknowledge government's strength and efforts
PADANG RENGAS: Opposition leaders should accept reality and stop making excuses to deny the various positive changes and benefits currently being implemented by the government, said the Finance Minister's political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim.
He dismissed claims that the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, merely looks strong because the opposition is weak.
On the contrary, he said the strength of the MADANI Government stems from the hard work of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, as well as the unique multi-ethnic composition of its component parties, all working towards a better future for the country.
'The government has planned various initiatives and strategies, including programmes aimed at laying a strong foundation to revitalise the nation's economy and improve the people's well-being.
'We are not saying everything is perfect, but the government is making efforts to introduce clear policies to enhance public well-being in various areas such as the quality of education, healthcare and equitable direct assistance to the people,' he said.
He said this when met by Bernama at the Korban Perdana MADANI Programme and Kenduri Rakyat for the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency at the Dewan Terbuka Masjid Al-Taufiqiyah Chuar Kati here today.
Muhammad Kamil said Anwar and the Cabinet are fully committed to improving the country's economic performance while maintaining political stability.
'We can see the indicators today — such as economic growth, unemployment rate, poverty level, inflation, trade and investment, as well as the country's fiscal position.
'The unemployment rate is stable, and poverty and inflation rates have declined. The Gross Domestic Product and total trade are both expanding, showing that our country is now on the right track,' he said.
He added that these achievements prove the effectiveness of the MADANI Government's economic policies and governance in ensuring inclusive and resilient development.

BACHOK: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has donated a laptop to Muhammad Syimir Amar AlMuktar, 18, an underprivileged student from Kampung Pengkalan Chengal, Perupok. The contribution was presented by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) central leadership council member, Prof Dr Maszlee Malik, who visited the student on Anwar's behalf under the Ziarah Kasih Madani initiative. Maszlee said Muhammad Syimir, who scored 8As in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, was facing financial difficulties in continuing his studies at Politeknik Arau, Perlis. "We were informed that he comes from a struggling family, raised by a single mother. When the Prime Minister learned of his situation, he immediately wanted to help by providing a laptop. "This government is committed to ensuring no student is left behind due to financial hardship. We encourage local leaders to alert us if there are others in similar circumstances," he said during the visit here today. Muhammad Syimir expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the donation, which he said would greatly ease his preparation to begin a foundation course in Engineering Technology on July 9. "I didn't expect to receive direct assistance from the Prime Minister. Without this contribution, I would have had to save up on my own to buy a laptop," said the aspiring engineer. His mother, Hayuzi Mat Zin, 46, who supports the family by selling traditional kuih from home, said she earns around RM50 a day, making it difficult to fund her son's studies. "Besides Syimir, I still have three younger children in primary school and one more studying at Politeknik Kulim in Kedah. I'm thankful his story caught public attention after it was reported by local media late last month. "Since then, several individuals and NGOs have come forward with support, helping ease the financial strain of preparing for his further studies," she said. - Bernama

According to Anadolu Ajansi (AA), China strongly condemned the US for targeting Iranian nuclear sites safeguarded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry said the strikes 'seriously violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter' and have intensified tensions in the Middle East. Beijing called for dialogue and restraint from all parties. Saudi Arabia voiced deep concern, describing the attack as a violation of Iran's sovereignty. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry urged all parties to pursue de-escalation and called on the international community to intensify efforts toward a political resolution. Oman said the strikes constituted a 'serious violation of international law and the UN Charter.' The Foreign Ministry stressed Iran's right to develop peaceful nuclear energy under international supervision and warned that continued escalation could widen the conflict. He said the United States' involvement in the conflict could escalate tensions and have a direct impact on key global trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. 'Now, with the involvement of external powers, including the United States, the situation will only become more volatile. If the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, it will pose a major problem to the global economy,' he told reporters after a session with the Sarawak Keadilan Leadership Council here. Anwar said Malaysia remains consistent in calling for all parties to cease all forms of violence and demanding an immediate end to Israel's provocative actions and brutality. 'We have firmly stated that for true peace to be achieved, pressure must be applied on Israel to stop its provocative and violent behaviour towards other countries. 'Sovereign nations must not be silenced from voicing out on human rights and universal justice. Our position is clear.
