Humid and stormy weather for Father's Day Weekend, Turns hotter next week
Alabama remains situated between a trough of low pressure over the southern Plains and a ridge of high pressure off the east coast of Florida. This tropical weather pattern will increase humidity levels, bringing thunderstorms back into the forecast through the weekend as upper-level waves move across the state. Some of the storms this evening are expected to be strong to severe, with gusty winds and heavy rain.
SPC has placed western Alabama in a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk for severe storms. The threat remains low, but something to watch.
Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy with a few lingering showers and patchy fog. Lows will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Father's Day Weekend: The weather pattern is expected to stay the same. Anticipate more heat, high humidity, and scattered storms on Saturday and Sunday.
A few storms might be strong, accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rain, potentially causing minor flooding in areas with poor drainage. There is a Level 1/4 Marginal risk for flash flooding each day. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s, and it will feel like the middle 90s.
Next Week's Outlook: Expect hot and humid conditions with more scattered storms on Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, and it will feel like 95-100. The weather pattern will shift from Wednesday to Friday. The ridge off the Florida coast will extend westward, decreasing the chance of storms but resulting in hotter conditions. From Wednesday to Friday, expect a partly cloudy sky with occasional showers and storms. High temperatures will reach the lower 90s and feel like 100-105.

Earthquake reported Thursday in Northeast Ohio
[Get earthquake facts in the player above.] MADISON, Ohio (WJW) — The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 2.3-magnitude earthquake near Madison, in Lake County, on Thursday afternoon. It happened just before 1 p.m. a little more than a mile south-southeast of Madison, near Hogback Ridge Park, and about 3 miles below ground, according to the agency. It was the third earthquake reported this week near the same geographical coordinates, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' earthquake database. Tornado watch issued near the Indiana state line
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A tornado watch has been issued for Southwestern Michigan counties as a line of storms is expected to move into the state. Inside Radar The watch is in effect for Berrien, Cass, St Joseph and Branch counties near the Indiana state line lasting through 8 p.m. Wednesday. The environment will be primed for strong to severe storms between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. as an area of low pressure moves overhead. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of West Michigan in a slight risk (level 3 of 5) for severe weather. Intense thunderstorms capable of producing a few tornadoes, damaging wind gusts up to 75 mph and large hail greater than 1 inch in diameter will be possible. Storms will quickly move through, so have a way to receive weather alerts where you live. Severe chances drop to near zero by nightfall, with drier air working in by Thursday. All of us have a good chance of receiving half an inch of rain, but a few pockets of 2 to 4 inches of rain are possible. Critical fire weather conditions for southern Utah today as hot and windy weather continues
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Monday, Utah! After high heat over the weekend, our weather pattern begins to shift Monday as a weak tough in the Pacific Northwest moves inland. That change will flatten the ridge that's been keeping things toasty, especially in northern Utah. As a result, northern areas can expect a slight cooldown compared to Sunday, while southern Utah holds steady with hot, dry conditions. With the trough approaching and winds picking up, we'll see gustier conditions Monday afternoon and evening—most notably across southern and eastern Utah. That will stir up fire weather concerns, especially with how dry the air remains. Red Flag Warnings are in effect from noon to midnight today for the southern half of the state due to the increase in winds. This means that existing fires will spread rapidly in addition to any new fires that start. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are expected with sustained winds of 10-25 mph. Late Monday night, a weak front will move through the state. It looks to be mostly dry since moisture is very limited. Still, a couple of isolated sprinkles can't be ruled out for northern Utah, but most of us will stay dry. By Tuesday morning, that front will have swept through most of Utah and will help drop temperatures 5-10 degrees from Monday, with the most noticeable change across northern Utah. Winds will shift more northwesterly behind the front, and while they'll still be breezy, they won't be as gusty as Monday. Midweek, high pressure over the Southwest will start sliding westward, keeping things dry but allowing for a gradual warm-up Wednesday. Winds will stay relatively light, and the pattern will start to resemble what we saw earlier in the week. Thursday brings another round of very hot, very dry weather. Southwest winds will increase ahead of another trough diving into the Pacific Northwest. Relative humidity will drop into the single digits and teens, and temperatures could flirt with record highs—especially in the valleys. Salt Lake City could hit 102°, which would break the record for that day. Heading into Friday and Saturday, the next system moves closer. Winds are expected to ramp up again, and a weak cold front could start pushing into northern Utah by Saturday. That front may bring some relief from the heat up north, but to the south, gusty winds and bone-dry air will keep fire weather concerns front and center. Stay tuned.
