Chris Brown is accused of attempting to maliciously cause grievous bodily harm.
R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty following an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub.
The American musician, 36, is accused of attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm with intent to Abraham Diaw on February 19 2023 at the Tape venue in Hanover Square, Mayfair.
At Southwark Crown Court this morning, his co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, denied the same charge in a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Brown was freed on conditional bail last month and was able to continue his international tour.
As part of the bail agreement, the Go Crazy singer had to pay a £5 million security fee to the court - a financial guarantee to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions.
Both defendants are further charged with assaulting Mr Diaw occasioning him actual bodily harm, with Brown also facing one count of having an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place.
They were not asked to enter pleas to those charges with a further court hearing set for July 11.
Around 20 people - many of them fans of Brown - sat in the public gallery behind the dock for Friday's hearing.
Brown had arrived at around 9am to a large group of photographers outside the court, and walked in silence to the building's entrance.
A date of October 26 2026 was set for a five to seven-day trial.

Scott Allen Gardner allegedly left little 18-month-old Sebastian "helpless in a hot truck" on June 6 as the mercury hit 33C. A dad is accused of leaving his baby son inside his scorching hot car for more than three hours whilst he went to get a haircut and had a drink at a bar. Leaving your child in a car, even for just a few minutes can be highly dangerous causing irreversible damage or, at worst, death. ‌ Sadly, many people will take a the risk, unaware of quickly the situation can turn deadly. Last month, the Mirror spoke to expert Dr Matthew McCarter, who broke down exactly what happens to a body after being left in a car. "On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise sharply, even with the windows cracked," he said. "Within just 10 minutes, the inside of a car can reach dangerous levels – often rising by 10–20C above the outside temperature. For example, on a 25C day, it can hit 45C inside the vehicle in less than half an hour." This turns the car into an oven, with no escape from the heat. Dr Matthew explained. "If internal body temperature rises above 40°C, this can result in heatstroke – a medical emergency. Organs begin to fail, and without rapid treatment, it can be fatal."

Twin Peaks at 35: ‘We broke all the rules — and people were horrified'

As the ground-shifting murder mystery series and its belated sequel arrive on Mubi, its co-creator Mark Frost speaks to Adam White about upsetting and offending the television establishment, that notorious second-season dip, and the death of David Lynch Allegedly, American television did exist before Twin Peaks. But there is an undeniable chop down the middle of it, with the likes of Lucy Ricardo, JR Ewing and Captain Kirk on one side, and on the other the body of Laura Palmer – the most beautiful phantom in the world, murdered, wrapped in plastic and burning with secrets. Nothing was quite the same after she washed up on the side of that riverbank in April of 1990. Twin Peaks co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost destabilised the entire television landscape with a series that was a murder mystery, a soap, a comic pastiche of the American heartland and your worst, weirdest nightmare all at once. 'There were only three networks back then,' says Frost today. 'TV was designed to sell you products in the commercial breaks, then lull you into a state of sleep.' But a murdered girl, he and Lynch thought: 'What if she was a trojan horse? And what if once we were indoors, inside our little horse, we could wait until everybody fell asleep and climb out and get to work?'
