HMDA to select consultancy for skywalk near Secunderabad Railway Station
In an effort to take forward the proposal for improvement of pedestrian facilities near Secunderabad Railway Station, the State government, through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, has invited proposals from consultants towards execution of the project for an elevated walkway covering significant points around the station.
HMDA has published a request for proposal for selection of consultant for providing services towards development of skywalk near the railway station. A Secunderabad Railway Station Precinct Area has been demarcated to spell out the terms of reference for the consultancy, which encompasses several important points nearby from where pedestrian traffic is generated on daily basis. The locations to be covered include the railway station, the two metro rail stations — Secunderabad West and Secunderabad East connecting to the railway station, Rathifile bus station, Secunderabad bus stop, Gurdwara bus stop, Blue Sea bus stop, Chilkalguda bus stop, Bhoiguda bus stop, and the Uppal bus stop.
In addition to the transportation hubs, the area is also home to a temple, and a Gurdwara, which add to the number of footfalls in the region, the RFP document notes. The current infrastructure is insufficient to accommodate the high volume of pedestrians, contributing to traffic congestion and safety concerns, the document said explaining the need for the skywalk.
The selected consultants will be responsible from the stage of design up to bid processing. They will have to prepare a conceptual design of the skywalk structure with revenue generation model, a detailed project report including technical drawings, architectural and structural designs and Bill of Quantities for tendering, and also prepare the bid document for selection of contractor, besides providing technical assistance in bid process management. Last date for submission of tenders is June 2.

₹3,858 crore allocated for development of 448 km of four-lane roads under the Chief Minister's Road Development Scheme since 2021
The Tamil Nadu government said on Sunday that ₹3,858 crore had been allocated for the development of 448 km of four-lane roads and ₹2,207 crore for 1,681 km of two-lane roads under the Chief Minister's Road Development Scheme since it was launched in 2021. 'Currently, work is in progress on 383 km of four-lane roads at a cost of ₹2,807 crore and 357 km of two-lane roads at a cost of ₹709 crore,' it said. Under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme, a sum of ₹17,154 crore was allocated for 9,620 km of road projects and ₹1,161 crore was allocated for 996 bridge/culvert projects, said an official release listing the achievements of the Highways Department. Under the Urban Area Development Scheme, work to an extent of 164 km has been carried out at a cost of ₹731 crore. Pavement surface improved The pavement surface of 6,805 km of roads has been improved at a cost of ₹2,074 crore and 1,652 road safety projects have been completed at a cost of ₹662 crore. A total of 10 bypass roads have been completed at a cost of ₹307.8 crore. They include Manachanallur (Phase 1), Illuppur, Parthibanur, Rasipuram (Phase 1 Division-2), Bhavani (Phase II), Mudukulathur, Tiruttani, Coonoor, and Namakkal (Phase I). Under the Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation, the Vandalur-Walajabad Road has been upgraded from four-lane to six-lane at a cost of ₹180.09 crore, and ₹1,372 crore was allocated for the conversion of 1,049 causeways into high-level bridges, the release said. As for projects with NABARD loan assistance and State funding, 278 bridges have been constructed at a cost of ₹1,137.62 crore. Overbridges Eight road overbridges have been constructed at a cost of ₹813.25 crore. The ongoing major projects include Coimbatore Western Bypass, Mannargudi (Phase-I), Ambasamudram, Tiruchengode (Phase I & II), Bhavani (Phase I), Namakkal (Phase-II and III), Pollachi Western Bypass, Aruppukkottai Western Bypass, Kamuthi-Sivaganga (Phase-I), Uthiramerur, Thuraiyur (Phase-II), Tambaram Eastern Bypass (two sections), and Thiruporur/ Kelambakkam. Under the Integrated Road Infrastructure Development Scheme, 2,264 km of road projects are being implemented at a cost of ₹8,076 crore, and 69 bridge/culvert projects are being executed at a cost of ₹694 crore, 134 causeways are being converted into high-level bridges at a cost of ₹763.80 crore, 32 high-level bridges are being constructed under the NABARD loan assistance scheme at a cost of ₹375.32 crore, and 19 high-level bridges are being constructed under the State-funding scheme at a cost of ₹596.64 crore, the release said.

HMDA mulls land pooling to unlock potential
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is finalising a proposal to implement Land Pooling and Area Development (LPAD) to unlock land potential, deliver planned infrastructure, and promote inclusive urban growth across the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR). HMDA will engage a consultancy to draft legislation, rules, and guidelines for LPAD and to implement a pilot scheme. Officials said that despite an existing master plan, its execution, especially of arterial and sub-arterial roads, remains inconsistent. This has resulted in landlocked parcels and unregulated development lacking proper road access, utilities and essential public services. In many cases, the authority is forced to provide infrastructure after unplanned construction, an approach seen as inefficient and costly. The present legal framework under the HMDA Act is considered inadequate to support integrated urban development. The proposed LPAD model, based on town planning schemes in Gujarat and Bhubaneswar, allows for equitable land reconstitution, integrated infrastructure provision, and phased release of development plots. HMDA aims to ensure road connectivity across HMR to prevent isolated land parcels. The authority plans to identify at least 10 potential LPAD sites, each measuring about 5,000 acres. The objectives include a review of all existing legislations, rules and guidelines for LPAD/town planning and local area planning in Telangana. After preparing concept reports, two projects will be shortlisted for pre-feasibility studies as part of the pilot initiative.

Realty market rebounds after two-year slump: 13% monthly growth in registrations since Feb 2025, says Telangana IT minister; buyers warned of scams
HYDERABAD: After two years of sluggish growth, Hyderabad's real estate sector is experiencing a strong resurgence, said IT and Industries minister D Sridhar Babu at the Times Home Hunt Property Expo on Saturday. He stated that the market had recorded consistent 13% month-on-month growth in property registrations since February 2025. "The real estate sector registered a 15.4% growth in 2024-25, while the construction sector alone contributed 11.97%, adding nearly 80,000 crore to the state's economy," he said. He also noted that in February 2025, 5,900 property registrations were recorded, with 18% of the registered properties priced above Rs 1 crore. Year-on-year transactional growth stood at 6%. The Times Home Hunt Property Expo featured residential and commercial projects from 35 developers across Hyderabad, showcasing around 100 real estate projects focused on smart homes, gated communities, and wellness-oriented townships. 3,000 visitors on first day The two-day expo, which concludes on Sunday, recorded around 3,000 visitors on its opening day. Overall, the event is expected to attract nearly 5,000 footfalls across both days. Entry is free for all homebuyers at the Hitex Exhibition Center. The event is presented by Aparna Constructions, with powered sponsorship from Ramky Estates, My Home Group, and Candeur Constructions.
