'[The apparel collection] is continuing its impressive climb in market share across all regions and channels. Last year, we hit $100 million in sales in apparel so it's still small — it's start-up size. But that's why it's such a big opportunity,' Martin Hoffmann, co-chief executive officer and chief financial officer, told WWD.
He said the category does especially well in the company's retail stores, where it accounts for around 20 percent of the overall business. The company's store in Newport Beach, Calif., in particular was a standout in the first quarter, he detailed during the company's conference call, with 'the highest apparel share among all U.S. stores during the quarter.'
Overall, apparel sales hit 38.1 million Swiss francs in the first quarter, up 93.1 percent from the prior year and the company's highest quarterly figure to date. He said that during the company's recent global summit, the team staged a full fashion show highlighting spring 2026 product that was well received.
'Apparel momentum is off to a strong start in 2025, powered by standout launches and running movement in tennis,' he said. 'Our training campaign with FKA Twigs, launched earlier this year, drove significant gains in the apparel share across key e-commerce region. Meanwhile, performance such as shops-in-shop with strategic retail partners delivered outstanding results. At our Selfridges pop-up in London, which opened earlier in the quarter, nearly every second item purchased were apparel or an accessory.'
In the conference call following the earnings release, Caspar Coppetti, cofounder and executive co-chairman, said: 'In April, we introduced our latest move in lifestyle campaign with Zendaya. The fictional film trailer set in space reflects On's continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and cultural connection. The campaign reinforces our focus to build On from the feet up by introducing our fans to On's Apparel and accessories at every touch point. Ahead of any impact from On's most recent campaign, we have continued to observe the meaningful acceleration within our apparel business, with net sales almost doubling during the first three months of the year.
The company attributed its success in apparel in part to tweaking its sizing to correspond more closely to other brands, the executives said on the call. And the focus on three popular categories — running, tennis and training/movement — has also connected with customers.
'We had a really strong campaign with FKA Twigs,' Coppetti continued. 'We have now just doubled down on a couple of weeks ago with Zendaya with the first knit product that we put out there and we're going to continue on this path. So you're going to see basically running, training and tennis as the main stories throughout the rest of the year. Some of our own retail stores are now really pushing high-double-digit numbers on apparel share. If we do something special, we can even have a 50 percent apparel share, which is very encouraging for what we're planning to do in the future.'
Hoffmann added: 'There's a lot of upside potential that we want to tap into. But it's strongly linked to our own retail so by adding more stores, the apparel share will come up.'
Currently, Hoffmann said On operates 53 stores globally, 30 of which are in China, and the plan is to add another 15 units this year and between 20 and 25 a year 'for the midterm future.'
He hinted that these new stores will have a 'more premium positioning,' but said it was still too early to provide any further details at this point.
Hoffmann said the company's retail stores continue to 'showcase exceptional momentum from both new store openings and meaningful increases in existing store productivity. The store rollout and strong growth of this channel is visible across all regions. But if I had to pick one highlight this quarter, it would be the continued strength of our Tokyo store, which even surpassed our richest street store in London in terms of net sales.'
In the first quarter, On saw net sales increase 43 percent to 726.6 million Swiss francs, compared to 508.2 million Swiss francs in first quarter 2024. Net income, however, decreased by 38 percent to 56.7 million Swiss francs from 91.4 million Swiss francs the same time last year.
The company also raised its full-year guidance for the year. It now expects to reach at least 28 percent growth on a constant currency basis, equivalent to 2.86 billion Swiss francs at current spot rates. The company added that it now expects a gross profit margin in the range of 60 and 60.5 percent for the full year, and an adjusted EBITDA margin in the range of 16.5 and 17.5 percent.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher Joins Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day' With Tom Holland
Jon Bernthal is joining Tom Holland in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' Bernthal – who has played The Punisher on a number of TV shows – is reprising his role for the first time on the big screen TheWrap has learned. The gun toting vigilante was most recently seen in Season 1 of 'Daredevil: Born Again.' Bernthal first appeared as The Punisher back in the second season of 'Daredevil' when it was still a Netflix series. He later reprised it for a few episodes in the aforementioned first season of 'Daredevil: Born Again.' He's tapped not only to appear in the second season of that series but also for a Punisher standalone on Disney+ – akin to the 'Werewolf By Night' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Christmas special. Bernthal is also co-writing the standalone special. Along with Holland and Bernthal, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are both tapped to return for the new Spidey film as MJ and Ned respectively. The only other major casting announced is that 'Stranger Things' alum Sadie Sink has joined the film in an unspecified role. Rumors have swirled about her portraying a number of iconic characters from X-Men mainstay Jean Grey to Gwen Stacy – and possibly even Spider-Gwen. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' – the fourth film in Holland's tenure as the wall crawler – is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is slated for release on July 31, 2026. Cretton also handled directing duties for Marvel's 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' and a few episodes of the upcoming Disney+ series 'Wonder Man.' Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the script. The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Jon Bernthal Joins Tom Holland in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
Jon Bernthal has appeared in several Marvel television series as the stone-cold vigilante known as the Punisher, even headlining his own series. Now he's taking his guns to the big screen. More from The Hollywood Reporter Abigail Breslin, Booboo Stewart to Star in Dramedy Movie 'A Good Fight' (Exclusive) Steven Spielberg Thought 'Jaws' "Would Be the Last Movie I Would Ever Be Given to Direct" How Prime Video Gives Cord-Cutters One-Stop Access to Apple TV+, HBO Max, Paramount+ and More Bernthal has joined Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest Spider-Man movie from Sony and Marvel. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature, which will shoot in England this summer and has a July 31, 2026, release date. Much of the movie remains shrouded in mystery. Movie rumor websites have listed upwards of a dozen possible villains, from crime bosses to alien symbiotes, who could appear in the feature, as well as a couple of different versions of the Hulk. The only thing clear at this stage is that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are reprising their roles as MJ and best friend Ned, although how substantial those roles will be remains unclear. And Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is the big new addition so far. The story takes place after the events of the previous movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which the entire world knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man and then had that knowledge erased. Having Bernthal as the Punisher seems to point to a slightly more grounded angle on the story as the character hails from the gritty street corner of Marvel's universe and, in the comics at least, uses fists, knives and guns to tussle with bad guys, rather than spells or fancy tech. But hey, having him square off against a rampaging Hulk could be fun, too. Bernthal first showed up as vigilante Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, in Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series, then starred in his own series that ran for two seasons. He recently returned for a few episodes in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. Marvel is betting on more Punisher and Bernthal in the months and years to come. The character is set to return for season two of Born Again and Marvel is bringing Bernthal back for a Punisher stand-alone feature for Disney+. Bernthal is co-writing the latter. Curiously, one nonnegotiable he had for his return to Daredevil was maintaining the character's violent, R-rated feel. It will be interesting to see how that translates into the more kid-friendly tone of the Spider-Man movies. Bernthal and Holland have a charmed history together when it comes to Marvel. The duo were working on the 2017 feature Pilgrimage when prepping to audition for their Marvel roles. The actors helped each other with their audition tapes. This year, Bernthal's big-screen output has included starring opposite Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2 for Amazon and appearing in the Rami Malek thriller The Amateur for 20th Century Fox. Bernthal is repped by CAA and Sloane Offer. Jon Bernthal's Punisher Officially Joins SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY! — GeekTyrant
Jon Bernthal is officially bringing the Punisher into Spider-Man: Brand New Day ! The next installment in Tom Holland's Spidey saga. Frank Castle is actually stepping into the Sony/Marvel Spider-Verse, and this is for real, and it's awesome! The film, which begins shooting this summer in England, will be directed by Shang-Chi 's Destin Daniel Cretton and is set to hit theaters July 31, 2026. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to return as MJ and Ned, and Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The story picks up after the reality-resetting events of No Way Home , where no one remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man. That gives the narrative a clean slate, and apparently a perfect window to drop in Marvel's most brutal antihero. Bernthal's take on Frank Castle was first introduced in Netflix's Daredevil series and later spun off into The Punisher . He recently returned in Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, and not only is he starring in Season 2—he's also co-writing a solo Punisher special. So yeah, the man is in. This new crossover has been years in the making, even if unintentionally. Bernthal and Tom Holland actually helped each other score their Marvel gigs while working together on the 2017 film Pilgrimage. Bernthal told Jimmy Kimmel Live: 'We did a film about seven or eight years ago. That was where both Tom did his audition for Spider-Man and I did my audition for Punisher. We actually made each other's audition tapes on that film.' He even had a hand in giving Holland some iconic Spider-Man flair: 'I gave him the note, 'Tom, maybe you should run up that wall and do a double backflip and then start the scene.' And he was like, 'Yeah, you think I should do that? That's not too much?' I was like, 'I don't think any of these other fools are able to do that,' and he in fact did that.' Now, after years of parallel stories, they're finally sharing the screen in the MCU. With Peter navigating a world that doesn't know who he is, and Castle never caring much for red tape, the dynamic between these two could be explosive. We don't know exactly how the Punisher will fit into Brand New Day , but I can't wait to see how this comes together! One's a neighborhood-friendly hero trying to stay under the radar. The other's a walking storm of gunpowder and grief. Whatever happens, it won't be boring. Source: Deadline
