
Breathing life into balance: Aishwarya Bansal's Yoga journey
Every year, nearing
International Yoga Day
, I end up thinking more intensely about the power of transformation that lies in something so old, yet so eternally pertinent- Yoga.
To me, Yoga originally started out as an exercise routine, a means to stretch and relax in between meetings, commuting, and the seemingly never-ending to-do lists of building and expanding companies.
But eventually, it has become so much deeper- a centering force, a daily reboot button, and a gentle push that reminds me to be balanced amidst the craziness of contemporary living.
Recently, I spent time in the presence of some spiritual leaders- people who have made their lives a mission about spiritual well-being and group consciousness. Through all their different paths and views, one strand was jarringly consistent: the requirement to integrate Yoga and meditation into every day life- not as an occasional pleasure, but as a requirement.
Their messages lingered. And more importantly, so did their energy- calm, clear, centered.
It reminded me that amidst ambition and acceleration, what we often forget is the importance of stillness.
Yoga, in its purest sense, isn't so much about physical dexterity- it's about mental toughness. Science confirms this. Several studies in scientific journals such as Frontiers in Psychiatry and JAMA Internal Medicine have established that practising yoga and meditation regularly can drastically mitigate stress, even anxiety.
For working professionals like myself who tend to work in high-stress environments with decision fatigue, the capacity to mentally reset becomes not only useful, but essential.
This year, on the day of International Yoga Day, we are hosting specially curated yoga sessions at all our offices, conducted by trained experts. It's a modest step but a genuine one. I want the entire organisation - the leadership and the newest joiner alike- to feel the benefits of this practice in their own lives.
Because I passionately believe that the health of an organisation mirrors the health of its people.
We are an age where burnout is a badge of honour, and where being constantly connected tends to disconnect us from ourselves. Yoga presents a lovely counter-narrative. It shows us that slowing down can be the quickest path to clarity, creativity, and compassion.
As a leader, I take it upon myself to not only advocate for innovation and growth but also to exemplify care and balance.
That involves making wellness non-negotiable, not just in policy, but in practice.
So today, as we all unfurl our mats and breathe deep into our bodies, I invite you to stop- not just for a stretch, but for quiet. Not just for strength, but for gentleness. And not just for today, but for each day thereafter.
For when we honour the mind, the body will follow. And when we guide from that space of harmony, everything else takes care of itself.
Happy International Yoga Day- and remember, the best pose is the one where you're kind to yourself. And a gentle nudge to hydrate.

International Yoga Day observed in Dindigul
A slew of events were organised by educational institutions in Dindigul district marking the 11th International Yoga Day observed on Saturday. Over 700 NCC Cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of 14 (TN) Battalion participated in the International Yoga Day event at SSM Academy. The celebration began with a brief introduction about the importance of yoga by the Commanding Officer of 14 (TN) Battalion Lt Col S. Jagadeesan. Cadets were given advice on the benefits of practising yoga and on how yoga promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Following the introduction, a yoga session was conducted under the guidance of a certified yoga instructor. The session included various asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation. The event emphasised the physical benefits of yoga and also focused on its philosophical and cultural roots, fostering awareness among the younger generation. The NCC Cadets pledged to incorporate yoga into their daily routine and spread awareness of its benefits. At the Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed to be University), the Yoga Day event was celebrated by the Physical Education, Yoga Centre and National Service Scheme (NSS) of the Institute. Vice-Chancellor N. Panchanatham spoke about the importance of yoga. Over 1,000 students and staff members from various educational institutions participated in the event.

Yoga India's greatest contribution to the World: Pro-Chancellor H.S. Ballal
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) celebrated the International Day of Yoga on Saturday, June 21, under the global theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' at Manipal. The event commenced with a yoga practice session guided by K. Annapoorna, professor and head, Division of Yoga, MAHE. Participants engaged in guided yoga asanas, pranayama, and relaxation techniques aimed at improving the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. MAHE Pro-Chancellor H.S. Ballal said yoga was one of India's the greatest contributions to the world, timeless in its wisdom and more relevant today. MAHE believes that celebrating yoga would help reaffirm the cultural legacy and inspire future generations to embrace yoga not just as a practice, but as a way of life. Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. M.D. Venkatesh, Pro Vice-Chancellor Sharath K. Rao, Registrar P. Giridhar Kini and others were present. Philanthropist Indira Ballal and Dr. Rao felicitated individuals, including Ganesh Bhat, Prasanna Hedge, Akhila Shetty, Namitha Rao and Swati Pai, for their contributions to Yoga. M. Sc. Yoga Therapy students demonstrated therapeutic and scientific dimensions of Yoga. SDM Ayurveda College Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi celebrated the event in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi in the college premises. Ayush Ministry Ayurveda Advisor Kaustubh Upadhyay inaugurated the Yoga Sangama and explained Ministry's 10 key initiatives to promote Yoga. Udupi City Municipal Council President Prabhakar Poojary, MLAs Yashpal Suvarna and Gurme Suresh Shetty, former MP K. Yoga day celebrations in educational institutions
Alagappa University, under the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' celebrated 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday. The importance of celebrating International Yoga Day is to create an awareness about yoga among individuals across the world. In his presidential address, G. Ravi, Vice-Chancellor, emphasised the holistic value of yoga highlighting that it nurtures not only the body but also sharpens the mind and enhances social harmony. 'Yoga is part of our ancient culture, dating back over 2,000 years. Practicing it daily for at least 20 to 50 minutes leads to peace of mind, productive work and community well-being,' he said. He added that since 2016, the university has been offering yoga training to university fraternity and general public. In 2018, the university established the Centre for Yoga Education which offers Yoga Course. Mepco Schlenk Matric Higher Secondary School commemorated the yoga day by practicing yoga and speaking about its importance. A. Subash, one of the staff members, appealed to the students to practice yoga regularly for the betterment of physical and mental health.
