M&S resumes online orders six weeks after cyber attack
Marks & Spencer has resumed online orders for customers, six weeks after it was forced to halt sales following a cyber attack.
Currently, shoppers will only be able to purchase the company's "best-selling fashion ranges" as part of a staggered return to full online operations.
On the company's Instagram page, the retailer's managing director of clothing, home and beauty, John Lyttle, wrote: "We are bringing back online shopping this week
"A selection of our best-selling fashion ranges will be available for home delivery to England, Scotland and Wales.
"More of our fashion, home and beauty products will be added every day and we will resume deliveries to Northern Ireland and Click and Collect in the coming weeks.
"Thank you sincerely for your support and for shopping with us."
The retailer made the decision to pause online orders over the Easter Weekend after being targeted by hackers.
Customer personal data, which could have included names, email addresses, postal addresses and dates of birth, was also taken in the attack.
In a statement at the time, the retailer said: "Unfortunately the nature of the incident means some personal customer data has been taken.
"Importantly, there is no evidence that this data has been shared and it does not include useable card or payment details, or account passwords, so there is no need for customers to take any action."
Customers were prompted to reset their password though the store assured customers this was only for "extra peace of mind."
The retail group says 'human error' caused the attack, which is set to cost the firm around £300 million.
It is understood that the retailer was targeted by a ransomware called DragonForce, and an employee most likely replied to a phishing email.
The National Cyber Security Centre describes ransomware as a type of malicious software that prevents users from accessing their data and systems by encrypting their files.
The group deploying the software will then demand a payment or "ransom" in exchange for granting access and unencrypting the data.
Attackers can also threaten to leak the data if the ransom is not paid.
According to reports, a hacking group known as Scattered Spider is said to be behind the M&S attack, although this has not been confirmed.

Locals in Sóller, Majorca, were left outraged by the lawless behaviour after the frisky clip went viral. A topless woman can be seen on her knees close to the man. Both of them are said to be tourists, according to local news outlet Utima Hora. The man with a phone in his hand appeared to record a video as they engaged in the raunchy act. A huge church can be seen right behind where the couple were filmed during nighttime. There is no information on whether they faced any police investigation after the clip went viral. A fuming local said: "For years, people have talked about bringing in high-quality tourism to avoid all this incivility, but in the end, we're faced with reality, and this is what we have." It comes after a gob-smacking video shows two cops romping up against a police car in broad daylight. A local caught the lawless behaviour on camera in Cyprus, and the frisky footage has left the holiday island stunned. Their video shows a cop car parked up in full view after ploughing through the crops - clearly in a hurry. Shocking moment two brazen cops are caught romping in field propped against their police car in broad daylight clinch The front passenger door is open and one party is bending over the seat. The other appears to be going at it hammer-and-tongs behind. Vehicles stream past on another road just a stone's throw away, also with a clear view of the car. The local force confirmed it was probing a video of 'a man and woman". Two officers have been identified in relation to the clip and temporarily dismissed from their posts until the inquiry is wrapped up. The investigation was said to be focused on ascertaining whether the vehicle belonged to the force. One member of the local police said: 'We are not ruling anything out. 'There is a possibility that this is a fake video, footage that has been deliberately manipulated and we are investigating that too." Commenters said it had 'humiliated' a police force already under stress from the escalating conflict in the nearby Middle East. One source told The Sun: 'If this video is for real it is deeply offensive but we will not let it get in the way of our good name and good work."

Pervert teaching assistant cries 'no' as he's arrested over sick videos of schoolgirls
Keiron Pickett, 24, had six videos stored on his iPhone, along with a collection of indecent images and disturbing notes about his students. A teaching assistant was caught filming a series of vile videos at the school where he worked, secretly recording up the skirts of Year 7 girls. Perverted Keiron Pickett had six such videos stored on his iPhone, along with a collection of indecent images and disturbing notes about his students. When officers arrived at the 24-year-old's home to arrest him, he cried "F***, no, no, no" and threatened to kill himself. Pickett's crimes were uncovered after Instagram flagged his "SniffSmoke0151" account and reported it to Merseyside Police on September 9, 2024. As reported by the Echo, Pickett, of Withington Road in Speke, Liverpool, had been linked to the account through his email address. On Friday, Prosecutor Cheryl Mottram told the city's Crown Court that his behaviour quickly "became more erratic," and he had to be handcuffed after making threats to kill himself. He did, however, hand over the password to his iPhone. Inside the device, officers uncovered 62 indecent images and one video in category A - the most extreme classification of abuse - along with 28 images and one video in category B, and 192 category C images. In addition to the six upskirting clips, Pickett had also saved a number of handwritten notes on the phone, which his own legal team described as 'fantasy letters' about his young pupils. He had also carried out several disturbing searches on TikTok related to children. The teaching assistant broke down in tears as he was locked up yesterday. Pickett, who has no previous convictions, was employed at the school in question via an agency between September 2023 and January 2024. Charles Lander, defending, told the court that his client had since completed a series of courses aimed at rehabilitating sex offenders, adding: "It is clear that he will find benefit in this. "He makes candid admissions. The realisation of what has happened to him would be difficult for anyone facing their first custodial sentence, but it is often more difficult for individuals with this kind of offending. He has got his head down. Your honour will have read about the death of his father and issues in his background during his childhood. But, ultimately, he engaged in the behaviour he did." Pickett admitted operating equipment under clothing without consent, taking indecent images of children, five counts of making indecent images and possession of cannabis. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a grey Under Armour t-shirt, he was seen wiping tears away before nodding as he was jailed for 20 months. Sentencing, Recorder Mark Ainsworth said: "You were employed as a teaching assistant. Plainly, that is a position of trust for two reasons. The students you were teaching were children, and, also, they had complex learning needs. In both ways, they could be regarded as vulnerable. "You were arrested. Your initial response was to panic. You were visibly distressed, and well you might have been, given that you knew what the police were about to discover. "Needless to say, behind each and every image was a child being sexually abused, some of those images showing the most serious forms of sexual abuse. These images do not show a victimless crime, far from it. The assumption has to be made that, if it was not for people like yourself providing a marketplace for such images, that abuse would not take place. "They were but part of what was discovered by the police. It is clear that, not only had you been downloading indecent images of children from the internet, you had been taking indecent photographs of children yourself. You had been abusing your position of trust at the school to take photographs of the very children you were there to look after and educate. "The notes you made at this time demonstrate what was going through your mind. I hope that you do not need me to tell you how abhorrent this sort of conduct is regarded by society." Pickett was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He will be required to sign the sex offenders' register for the next decade.

New Edinburgh bakery opens on former site of popular business in capital
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A new bakery has launched on Leith Walk, replacing a popular business that shut its doors less than a month ago. Sloe Lane Bakery opened on Saturday, June 21, replacing Hobz Bakery, which closed weeks before on May 31. Some of the team from Hobz has stayed on to work at Sloe Lane which is now up and running in the same premises. Bosses at the new bakery took to social media to wish the previous eatery staff farewell and to announce the launch of the new cafe. They said: "[Hobz] will be greatly missed, and we wish them every success and happiness in their next chapter. "They created something truly special and we hope to carry that spirit forward. We're lucky to have some of their wonderful team staying on with us - so please do pop by and say hello! "We'll be serving exceptional coffee and freshly baked pastries, made with care and intention. At Sloe Lane, we believe in baking with love, taking our time, and celebrating the best of Scotland's seasonal and local ingredients and suppliers. "Our name reflects our wish to create a place where people can slow down - inspired by the gentle rhythm of Leith Walk and the sloe berry, a symbol of our connection to nature." Hobz Bakery closed on Saturday, May 31, with plans to reopen at a new location in the East Neuk of Fife next year. Owner, Matt, shared the news with his customers on Instagram at the time. He said: "Hobz has been too successful, too fast. When I started baking from my flat in 2021, Hobz was only a weekly side project. It quickly grew into the bakery it is today. "In all honesty, I never imagined Hobz would be where it is now. We've been listed in many publications as one of the best bakeries in the UK, among other bakeries that I look up to and admire, even though I have trouble accepting anything we make is any good. "About a year ago I realised that we needed to expand, and began to look for a larger unit in Edinburgh."
