TrusTrace's New, AI-Powered Data Hub Gives Insights on Supply Chain Compliance

Yahoo14-05-2025

TrusTrace wants clients to put their trust in its data quality.
The supply chain traceability provider announced Tuesday it had launched an upgraded platform which leverages artificial intelligence to conglomerate and analyze data, in turn offering up recommendations and monitoring supply chain risks to flag to the client.

Shameek Ghosh, CEO of TrusTrace, said he believes the update will help clients take charge of their supply chains in a new way, particularly in a time of economic uncertainty.
'In today's high-stakes regulatory and business environment, access to accurate, real-time sustainability data shouldn't be a privilege—it should be a given,' Ghosh said in a statement. 'We've built a powerful, AI-assisted supply chain data hub that allows companies to quickly and easily collect and analyze data at any scale, empowering them to move from reactive crisis management to proactive impact-driven strategies. This is the future of responsible, resilient business.'
The system can now gather supply chain data from multiple sources, including suppliers, compliance documents and internal records; flag risks for proactive management; find holes in information necessary for compliance processes; help clients make decisions with a more holistic view of supply chain and more. It does so by leveraging AI to parse through the data, which it contends betters the data sets and allows for data to be used for many purposes, rather than being siloed.
TrusTrace noted that the technology is applicable to small-to-medium businesses and large enterprises alike. It said brands and manufacturers are already using the upgraded platform, but did not disclose who the earliest clients testing the new system included.
The announcement comes on the heels of the Swedish company's partnership with Avery Dennison, aimed at providing stronger transparency into raw materials' origins and uses throughout the supply chain, so that clients can discern a clear chain of custody. The collaboration saw Avery Dennison integrating TrusTrace's technology into its end-to-end supply chain solution, Optica.
Kenny Liu, vice president and general manager S. Asia, EMEA and Optica at Avery Dennison, said the business relationship enriched the company's ability to provide meaningful information and insights to its clients.
'Navigating today's complex global supply chains requires reliable, streamlined access to comprehensive data,' Liu said in a statement. 'By integrating TrusTrace into our Optica portfolio of supply chain solutions, we're equipping brands with the tools they need to map their supply chains, verify raw material origins, and confidently meet evolving regulatory demands. This level of transparency empowers smarter sourcing decisions and ultimately drives meaningful impact across the entire supply chain.'

The Top 5 Analyst Questions From Avery Dennison's Q1 Earnings Call

Avery Dennison's first quarter results met Wall Street expectations, with sales flat year over year and non-GAAP earnings per share in line with consensus. Management highlighted volume growth across both its Materials and Solutions Groups, driven by strength in high-value categories like graphics, reflective solutions, and industrial tapes. CEO Deon Stander attributed the quarter's performance to 'strong growth in high-value categories,' especially in the Materials Group, and noted that North American label volumes improved as customer inventory actions normalized. The company also benefited from productivity initiatives, which helped sustain margins despite deflation-related pricing pressure and a dynamic trade environment. Is now the time to buy AVY? Revenue: $2.15 billion vs analyst estimates of $2.16 billion (flat year on year, in line) Adjusted EBITDA: $352.4 million vs analyst estimates of $353.4 million (16.4% margin, in line) Adjusted EPS guidance for Q2 CY2025 is $2.40 at the midpoint, below analyst estimates of $2.56 Operating Margin: 11.9%, in line with the same quarter last year Organic Revenue rose 2.3% year on year, in line with the same quarter last year Market Capitalization: $13.6 billion While we enjoy listening to the management's commentary, our favorite part of earnings calls are the analyst questions. Those are unscripted and can often highlight topics that management teams would rather avoid or topics where the answer is complicated. Here is what has caught our attention. Ghansham Panjabi (Baird) asked about the effect of tariffs on apparel demand and pre-buying behavior. CEO Deon Stander clarified there was no significant pre-buying in Q1, but apparel order activity softened toward the end of the quarter due to tariff uncertainty. John McNulty (BMO Capital Markets) queried about the jump in working capital and tariff mitigation. CFO Gregory Lovins explained that higher rebate and incentive payments, not inventory shifts, drove the increase, and that price surcharges and sourcing adjustments would help offset tariff costs. Jeffrey Zekauskas (JPMorgan) questioned the rationale for accelerated share buybacks amid limited visibility. Lovins replied that the buybacks were opportunistic, triggered by share price declines and in line with the company's longstanding capital allocation discipline. George Staphos (Bank of America) asked about the company's capacity to accommodate sourcing shifts out of China and the stability of logistics exposure. Stander noted that Avery Dennison's global network can handle moderate shifts, but full supply chain transitions depend on garment manufacturing capacity in destination countries. Mike Roxland (Truist Securities) raised concerns about competitive dynamics in intelligent labels, particularly logistics. Stander responded that Avery Dennison maintains majority share through innovation, cost leadership, and strong customer support, and expects new product innovation to reinforce its position. In the coming quarters, the StockStory team will monitor (1) the pace of apparel demand recovery or further decline as tariff impacts play out, (2) progress in expanding high-value intelligent label programs across food, retail, and logistics, and (3) the effectiveness of cost containment measures and scenario planning in maintaining margins. We will also watch for updates on new customer rollouts and any further shifts in trade policy or macro conditions. Avery Dennison currently trades at $173.93, in line with $174.95 just before the earnings. Is the company at an inflection point that warrants a buy or sell? Veidekke and subsidiary secure $105m Swedish defence facility project

Scandinavian contractor Veidekke and its subsidiary Veitech have received a contract to undertake construction and installation work for one of the Swedish Fortifications Agency's facilities in eastern Sweden. The Skr1bn ($105.2m) contract is to be registered in the company's order book for the second quarter of 2025 (Q2 2025). This project will begin production in Q2, with completion due by the first quarter of 2028. Veitech focuses on installation and related technology for buildings and civil engineering structures. The Swedish Fortifications Agency is responsible for the ownership, development, and management of properties that are integral to the national defence system. Veidekke operates in the construction sector while also engaging in road maintenance and the production of asphalt and aggregates. The company has an annual turnover of around Nkr41bn ($4.1bn) and a workforce of 8,000, half of whom are shareholders. Veidekke was awarded another contract last month by Statsbygg for the establishment of the new Institute of Materials Science and Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. Spanning 13,200m² over ten floors, the facility will become a hub for over 200 NTNU employees, SINTEF Industri, external partners, and more than 300 students. Earlier this year, Veidekke secured a contract from the Swedish Transport Administration for the reconstruction of the Muggebo-Tjos section of the E20 road past Mariestad. This project entails rebuilding a 12km stretch of the E20 and adding a new bypass around Mariestad, with an expected completion date in late 2028. Germany's DMK dairy giant clears first hurdle in Arla merger plan

Germany's DMK Group and the Danish-Swedish giant Arla Foods have cleared the first hurdle on their way to becoming Europe's largest dairy co-operative. Farmers from both organizations agreed to a planned merger with large majorities at separate meetings, the companies announced on Wednesday. At DMK, more than 200 dairy farmers met in the northern German city of Hanover to vote on the merger plans, which were announced in April. The EU's competition authority must now give its approval, a process that could take until next March, DMK said. Until then, the two organizations will continue to operate separately. According to a DMK spokeswoman, the merger would bring together more than 12,000 farmers in a joint co-operative, to be named Arla. This would include around 4,600 farmers from DMK in Germany and the Netherlands, and some 7,600 from Arla in Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. DMK has its headquarters in Zeven in the northern German state of Lower Saxony, while its administration is based in Bremen. Arla is based in the Danish town of Viby, which is also set to be the future headquarters of the merged company. Together, the two co-operatives have an annual turnover of almost €19 billion ($22 billion) and around 28,700 employees.
