Glastonbury mystery performer ‘gives away' appearance with arrival in the UK

Metro6 hours ago

Glastonbury fever is reaching new heights after a rock icon was spotted in London just days before the legendary festival kicks off.
Fans are convinced a surprise appearance is on the cards from the Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, 56.
The iconic musican was seen backstage at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs gig at the Royal Albert Hall, where he posed for a photo with American singer Amanda Palmer.
The image quickly made the rounds on social media, with Palmer sharing the snap and gushing: 'Not who I expected to run into backstage… but look, it's Dave Grohl. We shared a sweet conversation mostly singing the cosmic praises of Melissa auf der Maur.'
Reddit detectives were quick to connect the dots and speculation exploded about Grohl appearing at Worthy Farm as a mystery guest.
In 2023, Grohl and the Foo Fighters stunned the crowd with a surprise set under the alias The Churn Ups, marking their first Glasto performance since headlining in 2017 — and their first major UK gig since the tragic passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
Now, fans believe Grohl might pop up again.
One Redditer wrote: 'Dave Grohl is in London, likely will be at the festival. Has done bits with John Fogerty in the past and other acts. Surely will be popping up at places this year?' More Trending
Another speculated a touching tribute might be in store: 'Drumming for Alanis Morissette possibly? Tribute for Taylor Hawkins?'
Another wrote: '100% he will be milling about – I'd say a couple of guest appearances are a safe bet. Maybe Alanis for a song or Neil Young for an encore'
It wouldn't be far-fetched as Alanis Morissette, set to perform on the Pyramid Stage at 6:15pm on the 27th, was closely linked to Hawkins as he played drums for her before joining the Foo Fighters in 1997.
This year's lineup includes The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Doechii, and more — but if Dave Grohl shows up, expect an iconic Glastonbury moment that fans will be talking about for years.

Sabrina Carpenter breaks British icon's album chart record amid controversy

Sabrina Carpenter has left a forever mark on the UK charts, breaking the record for the longest consecutive streak in the top five album chart. Her hit album, Short N' Sweet, has now spent a massive 43 consecutive weeks at the top, according to the Official Charts Company. The 26-year-old singer's achievement officially topples Ed Sheeran from the top spot. Sheeran's 2021 album, =, had a record-setting 42-week stay in the top five, a claim which he managed to hold onto until Sabrina's album came along. Oasis have stormed back into the UK albums chart, climbing to number two with their greatest hits collection Time Flies… 1994–2009, as anticipation builds for their upcoming Oasis Live '25 reunion tour. The Britpop icons, who disbanded in 2009, officially confirmed their return in August 2024. The long-awaited tour kicks off in Cardiff this July, with major shows lined up in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Topping the UK albums chart for the first time this week is musician James Marriott, whose debut album Don't Tell The Dog takes the number one spot. The news comes just days after Sabrina revealed the cover for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, which sparked enormous backlash. The image, which depicts Carpenter on her knees, in a short black dress and heels, holding the leg of a suited man as he yanks her hair, is shocking many fans. On Instagram, @edersoaresx wrote, 'Lol this cover art is so disgusting. As a fan I don't like it :(.' Reddit user Potential-Friend-133 said, 'The first image is very triggering for me. I hate this. A LOT.' More Trending Others have argued that the album cover is satirical or even a moment of political commentary. On the singles chart, Alex Warren reclaims the top spot with Ordinary landing at number one, followed by Sabrina Carpenter's latest hit Manchild in second place. Ravyn Lenae's Love Me Not holds steady at number three, while Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club remains firmly at number four. Got a story? Things are set to get tense in the Love Island villa as Toni and Emily clash. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 3 Toni exploded when ranting about Emily Credit: ITV 3 Emily clocked the tension Credit: ITV Toni seemingly accuses Emily of being nosey, with the two women going head to head. "There's a storm brewing between Emily and Toni," the Love Island Instagram page penned alongside the teaser clip. They explained further: "Harry pulls Shakira and says he wants to start spending more time with her, plus Emily catches a scent of tension after Toni calls her nosey." In the clip, Toni can be seen chatting to Meg saying: "I can't listen to her. 'Little Miss Sunshine' all the time." It then cut to Toni doing her makeup with Emily in the same room. Emily asked Toni how she was and she told her that she was in a "bad mood". Speaking to Meg and some of the other girls, Emily said she wanted to have chat with Toni. BOMBSHELL RIVALS Meg then warned her about what Toni had said earlier. Toni then said "Emily's just f**king nosey," in a clip that didn't show who she was saying it to. Reacting to the clip, one person said: "Emily is sweet but I agree with toni it can be too much sweetness sometimes." Love Island first look: Are Harry and Shakira back on the cards? "Toni has not been wrong yet……TEAM TONE," said another. A third agreed: "Toni is so right about emily bc she joined that mean girl trio of the megans and helena so quickly to pick on yasmin." "Emily latched on mean girls just be part of it. Go. Toni," added a fourth. But some other fans disagreed. "Starting to not like Toni," penned one. "Knew Toni was a mean girl," added a second. "Pure jealousy from Toni, no bad vibes from Emily, one of the kindest, most genuine girls around," declared a third. TONI'S NIP SLIP This comes after Toni suffered a rather awkward wardrobe blunder. Showing off to her fellow Islanders during Thursday night's episode, the American beauty, 24, did a handstand into a cartwheel as her boob fell out of her bikini. Toni did the flexible act while donning a skimpy bathing suit, which would later have consequences. As she did the move, her boob seemingly fell out of her swimsuit. The wardrobe blunder left her co-stars in hysterics, with one of the hunks begging her to cover up quickly. Dejon was shouting: "Tone, the boob is out," repeatedly, as she failed to pay attention.
