One of the easiest ways to give your outfit a holiday-ready beachy upgrade is with some shell-inspired jewellery, and Emma Louise Connolly has found the perfect one to shop
With summer holidays approaching and plenty of seasonal events to choose from, it can be easy to get overwhelmed with trying to shop for a new outfit for every occasion. That's why jewellery is the perfect way to give an old dress a new look, especially when that jewellery is fun, whimsical and perfectly on trend for the summer.
This season it's all about nautical seashell-inspired pieces, and model Emma Louise Connolly has found the perfect one to add to her accessory collection. Hailing from Missoma – a brand loved by none other than Kate Middleton – her Spiral Gemstone Beaded Pendant Necklace is a great balance of fun and chic, and it's an easy way to style up even the most basic outfit.
Priced at £135, the necklace features a string of lab grown clear crystal quartz beads with an 18ct recycled gold-plated shell-shaped pendant. Each crystal bead is also totally unique with varying sizes and shapes just as you'd get with sourced quartz, giving you a realistic look whilst still being ultra sustainable.
To make it stand out, the beads are linked together with a thick red thread which adds a little pop of colour to the necklace. For even more of a statement look, the Shell Crystal Necklace Sienna from Wolf & Badger is £160 and features bold red beads with an oversized spiral shell pendant in gold.
We also spotted this Beaded Pendant Necklace for £68 at Anthologie, which has a more classic look thanks to its pearl beads. You can also choose from green or yellow beads, with each colourway featuring a different shaped summer-inspired pendant including a seashell, a starfish and sun.
Those on a tight budget can also get a similar look at ASOS with its orange and gold Short Necklace With Coloured Stones And Shell Pendant which is a mere £10. Meanwhile Not on the High Street offers this stunning Rose Quartz Gemstone Gingham Necklace With Heart And Fruit Charms which ticks off two accessory trends – fruit and shells – in one for £36.
However Missoma's jewellery comes with a very royal seal of approval, with Princess Kate, owning several pairs of earrings from the brand. One of her most recognisable pairs is the Zenyu Fan Chandelier Hoop Earrings, £145, which she first wore during her 2019 tour of Pakistan. She was spotted re-wearing them again in 2021 at the Royal Variety Performance, proving just how versatile they are.
However if you want to nail this summer's trends, Emma Lou's Spiral Gemstone Beaded Pendant Necklace is a must-buy.

The surprising detail on Meghan Markle's latest post promoting her As Ever brand

Meghan Markle has shared a sweet handwritten note through her As Ever lifestyle brand to thank fans for being 'the sweetest' - but a digital mark still managed to get through on the pen and ink missive. Shared on the official As Ever Instagram page, a photograph of the note featured intricate calligraphy that reads: 'You're beautiful. Full stop.' The note was placed in the centre of the photograph on a marble kitchen countertop, surrounded by ingredients and baking utensils. In one corner, two eggs lay beside a rolling pin, and in another corner is a bunch of fresh thyme. The Duchess of Sussex 's hand can be seen in the left hand bottom corner of the image. The countertop is also scattered with flour, appearing as though she was in the midst of baking. But on the left edge of the image, above Meghan's hand, a rogue black mouse cursor can be seen, suggesting the image appears to be a screengrab. It's not the first time a member of the royal family has made a blunder with images they've released. The oversight on Meghan's As Ever post brings to mind the Princess of Wales's Photoshop saga, which caused a huge stir last year. Kate Middleton had released a photograph of her and the Prince of Wales's three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, surrounding her in a hug for Mother's Day. However, it transpired that the image had been manipulated, leading to it withdrawn with a 'Kill' notice by international picture agencies just hours after it was released. The Princess later issued an apology and admitted to 'occasionally experimenting with editing'. In Meghan's most recent post for As Ever, she captioned it: 'It's true. From our hearts to your homes, thank you for being here. You're the sweetest part of what we do!' Meghan's message comes after she released new products under the brand earlier this week, including a Napa Valley rosé wine, an apricot spread and a new honey. She unveiled the trio of new As Ever products alongside a restock of six items from her first batch, which was released two months ago. The brand's first batch of nine products, all of which sold out within an hour of release, included raspberry spread in keepsake packaging for $14 (£10) or a normal jar for $9 (£7), with the brand describing the collection as being 'infused with joy, love, and a touch of whimsy'. Others were flower sprinkles for $15 (£11), wildflower honey with honeycomb for $28 (£21), a crepe mix and a shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles, both $14. Meghan also brought out three types of herbal tea also came out at the same time - hibiscus, lemon ginger and peppermint - for $12 (£9) each. The new rosé wine released this week is Meghan's first foray into the wine market, sourced from the famous Napa Valley region of California, up the west coast from her Montecito mansion. The 2023 wine, which will be available to buy from July 1, has been described by her brand as having notes of 'soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish' and a 'bespoke blend' which is 'launching just in time for summer entertaining'. One of the other new products is a $28 (£21) 'limited edition' orange blossom honey which Meghan said had a 'beautiful golden hue, an enticing aroma, delicate floral notes and subtle citrus undertones' and would be 'a standout addition to your pantry'. The other new item is the apricot spread - one in keepsake packaging at $14 (£10) and the other just in a jar at $9 (£7). Meghan said this 'newest spread balances a delicate sweetness and a gentle brightness that lets this beautiful stone fruit shine'. The brand's description adds that the spread is 'made with gorgeous fruit and a touch of sweetness, letting the apricot's bright flavor shine' and that the 'smooth texture and gentle tartness pair beautifully with everything from toast to cheese boards'. The spread and the honey were both shown as having sold out within minutes. When the items were announced, Meghan said: 'We are pleased to share that many favourites from our debut As Ever collection are back – and, we've added something new. We hope you find some special treats that bring extra joy to you and your loved ones.' Meghan first announced the beginning of her As Ever brand in February. It was originally set to be called American Riviera Orchard, but she was forced to rebrand after a trademark issue. Explaining the change to fans through her own Instagram account, Meghan said: 'Last year, I had thought, 'American Riviera', that sounds like such a great name. It's my neighborhood; it's a nickname for Santa Barbara, but it limited me to things that were just manufactured and grown in this area. 'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. 'And I haven't been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can, so as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first'.

Meghan Markle comes under fire for posting snap similar to one shared by Kate Middleton in 2019

Meghan Markle has been accused of copying her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, as her new As Ever post looks very similar to a snap shared by the Princess of Wales. The Duchess of Sussex teased her recent launch via the As Ever Instagram account with a snap of her on a swing in a sunny garden and the simple caption: 'No more sleeps.' However, the picture is reminiscent of one taken by Kate in a garden she designed for the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019. And this is the only criticism Meghan has been hit with since promoting her As Ever merchandise. She may have set the tills ringing, but her new apricot spread has been savaged by critics within hours of going on sale. Champion jam-maker Donna Collins said: 'It's a real disappointment that Meghan is selling a fruit spread, which is what you make when your jam fails. In the jam industry a spread is what we call something that didn't work. 'It can have the best ingredients, but if I had a jam that was too runny, I'd slap a label on it and call it a spread. There's no excuse for this. It should be perfect.' Popular: The As Ever website showed that nearly all of the new and restocked products, including the apricot jam were already sold out The ingredients list mentions conventionally grown apricots, dried organic apricots, organic pure cane sugar and fruit pectin. Collins said: 'Why should she include conventionally grown apricots, which will have used pesticides?' 'And why is she using pectin, which is a gelling agent, unless it's because her spread was too runny? Most spreads don't use pectin. 'Her apricot spread sold out in minutes, just like her earlier raspberry spread, which may mean they only made a small batch. 'I don't know who's making her spread, but we all know it's not Meghan. It sounds like they really don't know what they are doing.'

How the Prince and Princess of Wales have expanded their brood with adorable four-legged friends - after their toughest year

Prince William celebrated his 43rd birthday on June 21, and in keeping with tradition, a previously unseen photograph of the royal was shared on social media. The sweet snap shows the Prince of Wales sitting in a field, while playing with a group of small puppies. In the image, the father-of-three is dressed casually, wearing jeans paired with a long-sleeved green button down shirt, as the pooches crawl over him sweetly. With its casual look - and adorable subjects - the canines paint a positive portrait after what has been a very difficult year for the family, with both the Princess of Wales and the King being treated for cancer. It is believed that the Wales welcomed the puppies to their family earlier this year, after their dog Orla gave birth to them. Kate's brother James Middleton, who is well known for breeding dogs, is believed to have gifted Orla to the family in 2020. When it was revealed in May that the pooch had given birth to four puppies, it was reported that the royal children - George, 11, Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Louis - were 'in love' with the pooches. At the time, a source told The Sun: 'We always thought the patter of tiny feet in the Wales's household had ended, so the sound of tiny paws will have to do.' They added that Orla and her puppies are all 'doing well'. The names of the four new additions have yet to be revealed, and it is not known if the Wales family plan to keep any of the weeks-old pups. The identity of the father is also unknown, according to reports. The insider said: 'Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close. 'Everyone is very excited, not least the three children, who adore Orla, and Lupo before.' The Wales are thought to have welcomed gorgeous pooch Orla in 2020, in the same year that their former family dog, Lupo, died. A source at the time told The Mail on Sunday that the whole family were 'besotted' with their new pup. 'They were devastated when Lupo passed away,' the friend added. 'It was hoped that a younger dog would give Lupo some company and give him a little more life and energy.' The cocker spaniel was the puppy of James's Middleton's dog, Ella. The younger sibling of Kate is known for his passion for pups and currently owns a whopping six dogs. James - who is patron of several dog-related charities, founder of a dog food brand and even the author of a book about one of his beloved dogs, titled Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life - owns six pooches are called Zulu, Inka, Luna, Mabel, Nala, and Isla. Since adopting the cocker spaniel, Orla has been a devoted friend to the couple's children and was even included in their daughter's birthday portraits in 2022 and 2023. Orla also appeared on the Royal Family's social media channels for National Pet Day last month. A photograph of the black cocker spaniel was shared online with the caption: 'Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives'. James Middleton revealed in his 2024 book, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, that he gave Kate and William Orla, a black English cocker spaniel, in 2020. It is thought that Prince William has a life-long love of dogs. As a child, he had a pet Labrador called Widgeon. The pooch, who died in 2010, has been described as more than just a pet, and that he was a beloved member of the royal family. His presence was especially meaningful to William and Harry, who sought comfort and companionship in the canine during their childhood. he was a beloved member of the royal family who provided comfort and companionship to William and his brother Harry during their childhood. Orla was not the first dog James gave to his sister and brother-in-law: some time in 2011, he tried to get his own dog Ella to breed with another cocker spaniel named Spartan. His attempt was successful and nine weeks later, Ella gave birth to five male pups, including Lupo. Mr Middleton recalled how he asked William and Kate if they would like one, 'as a belated wedding present'. 'All you have to do is choose your favourite,' he said to the couple. 'There in the box nestled the glossy black pups. Catherine and William bent down to stroke their tiny muzzles,' James wrote in his bestselling book. The couple were soon set to move to Anglesey for William's work as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot and had to carefully consider the new addition. 'I reasoned that a puppy would be company for Catherine on the nights he was away on duty,' James added. They eventually chose one of the puppies, and named him Lupo, who joined the growing family when he reached eight weeks old. Lupo would become a key part of the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's home. The couple were photographed with the six-month-old cocker spaniel at a charity polo event in Gloucestershire in 2012. When the match was over and William had dismounted, he swept Lupo into his arms and showered the pup with kisses. Lupo is also believed to have helped them pick a name for Prince George. The couple are said to have written names on various pieces of paper and scattered them on the floor. Lupo wandered through them, but stopped when he reached the prince's name. The cocker spaniel even featured in a photo of the couple with new-born George and would go on to spend time with all three of the couple's children. Speaking shortly after Prince George's birth in 2013, Prince William said: 'For me Catherine and now little George are my priorities, and Lupo. 'He's coping alright, as a lot of people know who've got dogs and bringing a newborn back, they take a little bit of time to adapt, but he's been alright so far, he's been slobbering around the house, so he's perfectly happy.' Sadly, Lupo passed away at eight years old in 2020. William and Kate shared the news on Instagram at the time and wrote: 'Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. 'He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much. - W & C'. During the pandemic, James Middleton managed to breed another of his dogs, Luna, and produced a litter of six puppies. Kate chose one of them, who she then names Orla, and the pup is still part of the Wales family today.
