Dubai orchestra project: Everything you need to know
Conducting sticks at the ready — Dubai has just launched its very own orchestra project and it sounds very cool (see what we did there).
If you're a budding musician (or have one in the family), you'll be pleased to know the city is about to put a huge amount of funding and time into elevating local talent.
Announcing the news on Tuesday June 18, the Government of Dubai explained that it wants to promote Emirati music and culture around the world, through the creation of an orchestra project.

'Under the directives of Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Executive Council has approved the 'Dubai Orchestra' project with the aim of enhancing the presence of Emirati arts and culture on the global stage, reinforcing Dubai's position as a global centre for culture and an incubator for creativity, and elevating the efficiency of Dubai's arts sector.'

According to the new project's outlines, there are a number of goals to be achieved in the coming years, including making 50 percent of orchestra members Emirati talent by 2033.
Hoping to showcase musical talent to the world, the project has been designed to:
Attract exceptional talent
Inspire and empower homegrown creatives
Stimulate the arts sector and drive its growth
Nurture a creative environment that advances the local music sector
Support Dubai's Creative Economy Strategy and the Dubai Social Agenda 33
To ensure the goals are met by 2033, there will be a series of new youth-focussed music programmes, as well as new partnerships with community organisations across the city.
New educational opportunities for promising and emerging talent will be created, as well as promoting the UAE's musical heritage on stages around the world.

So you might want to head to your local Morrisons, as there's an £8 case causing a stir among travellers. Georgia took to TikTok to encourage others to go to the supermarket in search of the LUGG Venus cabin bag. "RUN to Morrisons for the perfect sized cabin case to use as your free carry on bag," she wrote over the top of the clip. "Even perfect measurements for Ryanair! "And only £8." "Morrisons, thank you for these beauts," she captioned her video. The comments section was almost immediately filled with others saying they needed to get one of the cases. "Brilliant value at £8," one wrote. "I saw them the other day - they have orange ones in my area," another added. "Great price!" I spent £136 to see if the lost luggage trend was worth it - I thought I'd nab designer goodies but it was a total flop "£6 with Morrison more card," a third pointed out. To which Georgia replied: "Omgggg no way!!!!" "It's the right size for Ryanair and too small for EasyJet free baggage," someone else said. "I've purchased 2 and they're amazing quality!" another gushed. "They'll still make you snap the wheels off no doubt," someone else sighed. Others questioned how much she'd be able to fit in the case, with another person writing: "That's your knickers packed, where's everything else going?" Responding to that, Georgia showed how she'd managed to fit in two pair of trousers, one skirt, one pair of shorts, one pair of PJs, four tops or T-shirts, three pairs of socks, three pairs of underwear, 1 bag of hairbrushes etc and one clear bag for 100ml stuff. And it was the perfect amount to cover her for three nights away in Dublin.

Cultural experiences you cannot miss If you're after something meaningful this Eid, cultural activations are popping up across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Family-friendly entertainment await Etihad Arena is bringing Disney Jr. Live! to Yas Island for two days only on Friday June 7 and Saturday June 8. Expect sing-alongs, dancing and plenty of familiar faces that your kids will probably recognise faster than you. Art lovers can swing by the Louvre Abu Dhabi to catch the final days of the Kings and Queens of Africa exhibition, which wraps up on Saturday June 8. Over in Al Ain, there's also some fun to be had. From June 6 until June 8, there's also the CocoMelon event at Al Ain Mall, which will bring the popular children's YouTube channel to life with an exciting line-up of family-friendly activities including lively performances, creative kids' workshops, fun mascot dances, and cheerful balloon shows.
