CM meets several delegations at his Raabita Office in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 16 (UNI) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday listened to grievances and issues of the public at the Chief Minister's Outreach Office, Raabita in Srinagar.
The programme witnessed participation of several public delegations, representatives, and individuals from diverse sectors who apprised the Chief Minister of various pressing problems and concerns requiring his attention, an official spokesman said.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani was also present during the outreach programme.
Among the prominent delegations was one representing the residents of Saderkoot Payeen, Ajas area Bandipora, seeking the Chief Minister's intervention for the expeditious disbursement of compensation to Wular land dwellers affected by developmental works.
Another delegation raised the matter of the delayed release of withheld recommendations for Class IV posts, urging the CM for immediate redressal.
A deputation of Junior Anesthesia Assistants from the Health & Medical Education Department urged the finalization of the long-pending selection process.
In an important academic interaction, Professor Fayaz Ahmad Nika, Dean & Head of the School of Business at Central University of Kashmir, presented key findings from a study on the NRLM/UEED programmes, underlining their role in enhancing women's empowerment and employment generation in the Ganderbal district.
The Jehlum Riverside House Rehabilitation Union from Habba Kadal Ganpatyar submitted a memorandum seeking allotment of land at Rakhi Aarth for the permanent rehabilitation of landless families displaced along the Jehlum river.

Afghan dry fruit traders concerned over continued closure of Attari-Wagah border
Kabul, June 21 (UNI) The closure of the Attari–Wagah border crossing, one of Afghanistan's key trade routes to India, has raised serious concerns among dried fruit exporters of Afghanistan. The Kabul Dry Fruit Exporters Union has warned that stopping freight truck movement on this route could severely disrupt both fresh and dried fruit exports, Tolo News reported. The union has urged Pakistani and Indian authorities to reopen the route permanently for Afghan cargo trucks. Khalid Rahmani, spokesperson for the union, told TOLOnews, 'We hope alternative links through Wagah and Chabahar ports will open soon. Given the current political and trade tensions between Pakistan and India, we predict a decline in exports to both countries.' After the Indian and Pakistani military tensions eased, the border reopened briefly on May 9, allowing about 162 trucks to pass, but it was shut again. At least 12 Afghan export trucks remain stuck at the crossing. With the fruit harvest season approaching, traders warn that continued closure could pose major challenges for Afghan exports. They are calling for diplomatic engagement to reopen this critical trade route. Omid Haidari, head of international relations at the Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, said: 'We urge the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen contact with the Indian Foreign Ministry so that our major trade route can be reopened.' Merchant Mahboobullah Mohammadi, said, 'Our biggest export is dried fruit, especially pine nuts, which we mostly send to India via Wagah. But the decline in exports this year has brought significant losses. Our air corridors are still shut, and large amounts of pine nuts remain unsold in local markets.' The Wagah border was closed after tensions escalated between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India, on April 22. Tejaswi dubs Nitish a 'Copycat'
Patna, Jun 21 (UNI) Dubbing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a "copycat" for imitating his promises regarding social security pension, the leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav said that scared of the possible return of the Grand Alliance (GA) to power Nitesh government increased the social "security pension in tension". Reiterating his commitment for increasing the social security pension from Rs 400 to Rs 1500 after coming to power which he claimed of promising on December 16, 2024 Yadav told news persons here on Saturday that Nitish who announced to increase the social security pension from Rs 400 to Rs 1100, was actually following him and alleged there was a copycat government in Bihar which is devoid of its own vision. Tejaswi said that he had demanded from the Nitish government to make budgetary provision for the schemes announced by him but the CM ignored it. He alleged that now the Nitish government increased the social security pension without making any prior provision for it in the budget. He questioned from where the enhanced pension would be given to 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries? An additional Rs 767 crore would be spent monthly for providing the increased pension. Dubbing the Nitish government as "inefficient", Yadav reiterated that he had provided 5 lakh jobs in a short span of 17 months of his tenure and 3.5 lakh appointments were under process. Taking pot shots at the Prime Minister's Bihar visit, Yadav alleged that over Rs 100 crore public money is spent on his every visit and added that in the last five elections, the Prime Minister has held more than 200 rallies and over Rs 20 thousand crore of hard-earned money of the people was spent by the government in the promotion of its party. Yadav further said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has told a group of journalists of Bihar that Nitish was on the post only till the elections, because JDU's Bhunja party ( evening snacks) people were running the party. Arunachal CM disburses Rs 19 Cr land compensation, meets troops along LAC
Itanagar, June 21 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday handed over compensation cheques worth Rs 19 crore to villagers of Chuna in Tawang district for land acquisition related to the Damteng-Chuna road project and for land acquired by the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Terming the compensation as a key step towards inclusive development, Khandu said, 'This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to ensure that development reaches even the remotest frontiers of Arunachal Pradesh.' The compensation disbursement followed the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Chuna, located at an altitude of 3,950 meters near the Indo-Tibet border. The programme was graced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and State Minister Kento Jini, along with senior officials from the district administration. Earlier in the day, Khandu participated in the Yoga Day programme with villagers and security personnel. 'As the local MLA, it was important for me to interact directly with the people of Chuna, hear their concerns, and understand their aspirations firsthand,' he said, following an extended interaction with local residents. The Chief Minister also visited the jawans of the Arunachal Scouts stationed at the border outpost and expressed pride in their service. 'I was deeply impressed by the courage and dedication of our own boys, sons of Arunachal, serving Maa Bharti in some of the harshest terrains with unmatched dedication,' he noted.
