June 18 (UPI) -- Filmmaker Tyler Perry denies claims that he sexually assaulted an actor who worked on his television shows The Oval and Ruthless.
Derek Dixon's $260 million lawsuit asserts that the Madea star escalated "sexual harassment, assault and battery and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances."
The lawsuit, filed Friday, alleges that "strange and untowardly" text messages began after the pair met in 2019, and that Dixon was assaulted in January 2020 before eventually being offered a part in The Oval.
"Dixon immediately understood that his job security depended on his 'relationship' with Perry. From this point on, Dixon worked with the constant fear of losing his job if he did not engage with and endure Perry's sexual harassment," the lawsuit alleges, as reported by Good Morning America.
The actor claims that his stress was so severe he was prescribed an antidepressant, and ultimately moved to Santa Monica, Calif.
Perry's attorney, Matthew Boyd, denied the claims and dismissed the lawsuit as a "scam."
"This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail," he said.
Tyler Perry's Madea's Destination Wedding is due July 11. He is also behind the film Straw, starring Taraji P. Henson and Teyana Taylor, which arrived on Netflix June 6.

File Photo by Chris Chew/UPI | License Photo June 20 (UPI) -- Actress Jessica Alba joins girl group Katseye in their new music video. Katseye released a single and video Friday for "Gabriela," which will appear on their upcoming EP, Beautiful Chaos, due June 27. The music video for the song shows Alba, 44, play the CEO of the fictional Gabriela Enterprises. She stands at the head of a conference table, with the members of Katseye in attendance. "I've built and sustained this empire over the last 20 years," Alba says before the music starts. "A miracle truly. No thanks to any of you. I would love to say that my legacy is in capable hands. But alas, the talent in this room is quite disappointing." "However, one of you must succeed me, and claim my name as the next CEO of Gabriela Enterprises," she continues. The members of Katseye -- Daniela, Manon, Lara, Megan, Sophia and Yoonchae -- then fight over who will replace Alba. Beautiful Chaos will mark the group's second EP. "We are so excited to invite you into this beautiful and chaotic world that we have built," the group captioned an Instagram post promoting the upcoming release. "Thank you for being here." Katseye is also set to take the stage during the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards Saturday.

Fat Joe Sued For $20M By Ex-Hypeman, Claims Rapper Had Sex With Minors

Source: Al Bello / Getty Fat Joe is being sued for $20 million by his former hypeman, who has lobbed a litany of sordid claims against the Bronx rapper. The lawsuitalleges that Joe, born Joseph Antonio Cartagena, participated in sex acts with several minors in their teens, amongst other wild claims. As initially reported by Variety , Terrance 'T.A.' Dixon filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York against the 'Lean Back: rapper on Thursday, June 19. Dixon was reportedly Joe's hypeman for over 15 years, giving him front row view of the illicit behavior he described in his 157-page lawsuit. It's worth noting that Dixon's lawyer is Tyrone Blackburn, the same man who is representing Lil Rodney in his lawsuit againt Sean 'Diddy' Combs, which also includes some explosive charges against the disgraced mogul. However, Blackburn has developed a rep for representing clients with over-the-top claims that aren't necessarily credible. But Dixon claims that over the years Fat Joe coerced him in over 4.000 sexuals acts to keep him in good 'standing within the Enterprise. According to Dixon he was pressured 'into humiliating situations, including sex acts performed under duress and surveillance, accompanied by threats of abandonment in foreign countries if [he] refused compliance.' The most egregious claim in the lawsuit is its detailing of Fat Joe allegedly participating sex acts with three Jane Does—one 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds. Also included in the RICO-claiming lawsuit are longtime Fat Joe associates. Pete 'Pistol Pete' Torres and Richard 'Rich Player' Jospitre, as well as Roc Nation. Dixon's lawsuit arrives after he and Blackburn were sued by Fat Joe back in April for slander after alleging on social media that the rapper flew a 16-year-old girl across state lines to engage in sexual intercourse. Joe maintains that Dixon and Blackburn are basically trying to extort him, allegedly. Fat Joe is being represented by Joe Tacopina, a criminal attorney who has become famed in Hip-Hop circles after representing A$AP Rocky, who acquitted of gun charges and who past clients include Meek Mill, and Donald Trump. In reponse to the lawsuit against Fat Joe, Tacopino told Variety , 'The lawsuit filed by Tyrone Blackburn and Terrance Dixon is a blatant act of retaliation — a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the civil suit we filed first, which exposed their coordinated scheme to extort Mr. Cartagena through lies, threats, and manufactured allegations.' Needless to say, the social media peanut gallery has been going off since news of the lawsuit broke. This story is developing. Chris Brown pleads not guilty in London nightclub assault case

June 20 (UPI) -- R&B singer Chris Brown pleaded not guilty Friday to assault charges related to an act of violence at a London nightclub. Brown entered the plea at Southwark Crown Court in London, and the judge then adjourned the arraignment, which moves the next step of the case to July before a trial set for October of 2026. Brown allegedly attacked music producer Abraham Diaw in February of 2023 with a bottle of tequila at Tape nightclub in London. He was arrested in May on charges related to the incident of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and was then held in custody for almost a week before being released on $6.7 million bail. Co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, who performs under the name HoodyBaby, also pleaded not guilty Friday at the court to a charge of attempted grievous bodily harm in the same case. Under conditions of his bail, Brown must reside in the United Kingdom until his trial, and had his passport confiscated by police. The bail conditions do allow him to tour and perform, meaning he can have his passport for travel to shows. The Grammy Award-winning musician is currently taking part in his Breezy Bowl XX world tour and performed Sunday night in the British city of Manchester, at which he reportedly acknowledged fans for their support before also thanking the jail where he was held. "It was really nice," he told the crowd of his time in custody. Brown is next scheduled to perform at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday. Copyright 2025 UPI News Corporation.
