Honda Unveils Eye-Popping 2026 HR-V
Honda's compact SUV is back
Honda has just revealed the 2026 model year HR-V, with a few changes and upgrades to set it apart from its predecessor. The 2026 HR-V will continue to use the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. AWD remains optional, and it appears that efficiency numbers (listed below) will remain about the same.
2026 Honda HR-V EX-L
Once again, the 2026 Honda HR-V will be based on the eleventh-generation Honda Civic. This is the second generation of the HR-V for our market, and Honda sold nearly 139,000 units in the U.S. over the 2024 model year, a nearly 14-percent increase over 2023. Still, it's been a few years since the second-generation model was introduced, so some changes are needed.
Three trims will be available. The base model HR-V LX now comes with 'Pewter Gray' 17-inch alloy wheels, while the HR-V Sport gets new 18-inch 'Berlina Black' alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line HR-V EX-L also sports 18-inch alloy wheels, albeit with a machine-finished look. Two new exterior colors join the roster: 'Solar Reflection Metallic,' which is available on the LX and EX-L, and 'Boost Blue Pearl,' which is only available on the HR-V Sport. Base model HR-Vs get rear privacy glass, and mid-level trims get blacked-out rear badging.

The interior gets some upgrades, too
The base model LX and mid-level Sport get a larger 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging. New front footwell lighting mirrors the dynamic climate control knob lighting, which can be blue, red, or white. The steering wheel has a silver finish and has also been restyled. Honda's suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies will also come standard. Like the previous model, Honda is including 'next generation' airbags as well as knee and rear passenger side impact airbags.
Final thoughts
While the basic looks and performance remain the same, Honda was smart to give the HR-V a mid-cycle refresh. It's one of its better sellers and remains competitive against the Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30, and Nissan Kicks, among others. HONG KONG, June 20 (Reuters Breakingviews) - A Renault ( opens new tab exit could speed Nissan Motor's (7201.T), opens new tab turnaround. Selling the remaining $2 billion stake in its longtime French partner would help buy time to put its house in order. Accepting the end of an era makes sense for both. Japan's Nissan has money for a rainy day. The cars business boasted, opens new tab $10.3 billion net cash as of March 2025, as well as unused lines of credit worth $14.5 billion. But a lengthy recovery could erode those funds. The unit's free cash flow turned negative to the tune of $1.7 billion last year, when it reported an operating loss of 268 billion yen ($1.8 billion). Things will get worse before they get better: it won't earn operating income until 2029, per analyst estimates compiled by Visible Alpha. That could make refinancing some $4 billion of bonds due in 2026 more challenging. Meanwhile, the Renault relationship has drifted. Now, new CEO Ivan Espinosa's plan involves selling Nissan's stake in their joint Indian plant and consolidating production in Latin America, where the revamped Alliance was supposed to stay strong. Anchoring what remains through a cross-shareholding is unnecessary. True, there are ongoing projects. Renault factories currently produce three models for Nissan. Three more will follow in India, and Nissan's Micra in Europe will use its partner's EV platform. The latter is important as the European Union's carbon emissions rules demand carmakers buy credits if they cannot sell enough battery-powered vehicles. But this cooperation could continue or even expand without the pair's mutual holdings. Moving on would unlock cash. Nissan's full 15% stake in the French carmaker is now worth some $2 billion. The pair's most recent agreement in March allows them to reduce their respective stakes to 10%: Espinosa intends to exercise that option, the Nikkei reported on Monday. He could ask Renault to let him sell the lot. Nissan's share price, at 351.9 yen as of Thursday's close, is well below the 400 yen Renault paid in 1999, so the group – fresh from its own successful turnaround – has a vested interest in doing whatever it can to reboot the beleaguered brand. For the same reason, Renault seems unlikely to reciprocate by dumping Nissan's stock immediately. The downside is that then Renault would still hold its stake with 15% voting rights, giving it more influence over the Japanese group. Glenn Irwin outlines why he's taking ‘huge confidence' into British Superbike round at Snetterton
Irwin feels the Hager PBM Ducati team made a significant improvement against his Yamaha rivals at Donington last time out compared to 2024. He has three runner-up finishes under his belt so far and a third place after the first two rounds of the Championship, but now the Carrickfergus man is looking for victories at a circuit where he has triumphed previously on both Ducati and Honda machinery. Irwin, who is 12 points behind Raceways Yamaha rider Bradley Ray ahead of the opening race of the weekend on Saturday (4pm), said: 'Looking ahead to Snetterton, obviously this year, we have started really, really strong and have been consistent across the board at Oulton Park and Donington Park. 'What was pleasing at Donington was the fact that it was a marked improvement from last year as we were nowhere near the pace of the OMG package last year of Kyle (Ryde) and Ryan (Vickers), but this year, we managed to be ahead. 'Brad won the race, I think we showed good pace to reel him in of over two seconds at a track where last year, we really struggled to stay in the top four or five. So, we take huge confidence from that and it bodes well going forward.' Irwin was eighth fastest on the combined free practice time sheets yesterday on the Ducati. His brother and Honda Racing rider Andrew was 16th with Scott Swann (Send My Bag/IWR Honda) one place behind in 17th. Irwin did the double at Snetterton in the summer of 2024 and the 35-year-old would love a repeat to close the deficit to former champion Ray at the top of the Championship. 'Snetterton has been a track where the bike has always worked well and I have had a lot of success on both Honda and Ducati, so we are fully focused on going and winning races,' said Irwin. 'That being said, it's a long Championship, so we just need to keep our foot on the gas, keep applying pressure and making the most of the job we have. 'And by that I mean, I think making the most of it will be race victories this weekend, the team are working great, we have had some downtime and now we are coming back for race victories.' Meanwhile, the Fifth Round of the SBT Ireland Ulster Superbike Championship takes place on Saturday at Kirkistown in Co Down, promoted by the Hillsborough and Mid Antrim clubs. Lisburn's Carl Phillips was a double winner at Kirkistown two weeks previously in wet and dry conditions and moved to the top of the points standings, taking over from McAdoo Kawasaki's Korie McGreevy, who was ruled out after a crash in qualifying. Phillips is a former champion having won the title in 2019 and is making his return to racing this year for the first time since 2022. His opposition includes reigning champion Jonny Campbell, who was second in both races at Kirkistown in the previous round, plus Ryan Gibson and Ross Irwin. In the Supersport races, Graeme Irwin will be out to build on an impressive double on the Magic Bullet Ducati. It remains to be seen if reigning Ulster Supersport champion McGreevy has recovered sufficiently to race following his crash 14 days prior. Admission is £15 with Under-16s free.
