What We Think Classic American luxury meets contemporary styling in the 2026 Lincoln Corsair. This luxury SUV distills Lincoln's brand identity into a compact package, but its shortcomings hold it back from leading its highly competitive class. The Corsair has a hushed, comfortable cabin that especially coddles front-row passengers with upscale features. Its powertrains are smooth and refined, whether you opt for the gas-only options or the PHEV. We've found the standard suspension to be underdamped around town, but well-suited to the open road. The available adaptive dampers provide better body control with ride quality that's still on the soft side. These traits, combined with the Corsair's available BlueCruise hands-free driving system, make for sublime highway cruising. Lincoln has designed one of the best-looking compact luxury SUVs, and the Corsair's interior styling matches the exterior's elegance. However, not all the materials are as premium as we expect from vehicles in this segment. The back seats are also much firmer than the front-row chairs, with far less opulent furnishings than what's present up front. Lackluster infotainment processing speeds round out our complaints. Lincoln differentiates the Corsair from its rivals by eschewing outright sportiness in favor of comfort-oriented tuning and overall pleasant driving manners. Strong standard features and compelling pricing deepen the 2026 Corsair's value proposition. If Lincoln can blend improved technology with better interior quality into the next-generation Corsair, its rivals will have to contend with a serious threat. Output totals 266 hp, good for a 0–60 mph sprint of 6.3 seconds according to our testing. A Lexus NX450h+ plug-in hybrid is a dash quicker, needing just 5.5 seconds to accelerate from 0–60 mph. MPGs, Range, and Charging Each of the 2026 Lincoln Corsair's powertrains returns different fuel economy and range figures. The gas-only FWD variant is good for 22/30 mpg city/highway and 405 miles of range. Adding AWD drops those numbers to 21/28 mpg and 389 miles of range. For comparison, the quicker 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 returns 23/31 mpg with AWD and can drive 452 miles on a single tank. The Corsair Grand Touring PHEV ican drive 27 miles on electricity alone thanks to its 14.4-kWh battery. Total driving range is 450 miles. The Lexus NX450h+ plug-in hybrid can travel 37 miles exclusively using electricity and 550 miles on a full charge and tank of gas. Safety Ratings and Features IIHS grants the 2025 Lincoln Corsair top-tier Good ratings for all crashworthiness categories except the new side crash test, where it scores a second-lowest score of Marginal. Mazda's Best-Selling Model Shows Off Its New Face Despite the arrival of the newer Mazda CX-50, the CX-5 continues to be the best-selling Mazda in the United States. Last month, over 9,500 of them found new homes across the country, well over 2,000 units more than the CX-50. A new CX-5 has been spied several times in recent months, but now we have our clearest look yet at the new compact crossover, thanks to a leaked image of what appears to be a production model. The picture was shared on the Cochespias forum. Leaked Image Matches Recent Spy Shots Source: Cochespias Recent spy shots of the CX-5 were spotted by various publications, and the leaked image doesn't deviate from those. The headlights flow down more deeply alongside the grille, which actually appears smaller than it does on the current CX-5. Whereas the current CX-5 appears quite rounded in profile, this new one appears to have slightly more masculine lines, with an upright body. Black cladding around the wheel arches add another rugged touch. The spy shot doesn't show the CX-5 from any other angle, but based on this first look, we'd say it's more or less in line with Mazda's current design language. As for whether it's a noticeable improvement over the current CX-5, well, that's up for debate, since the existing CX-5 is still one of the most stylish compact crossovers around. Previous spy shots show lengthened taillights that mirror those on the larger CX-70 and CX-90. New Hybrid Powertrain Expected Source: Mazda While powertrains haven't been confirmed, we expect both gas and hybrid versions of the new CX-5, with outputs at least matching the CX-50. In the latter, the range is topped by a 256-horsepower turbocharged engine, while the hybrid CX-50 has a 219-hp powertrain shared with the RAV4 Hybrid. The 2026 Tucson Plug-In Hybrid is the fanciest and most capable version of Hyundai's small crossover. This flagship Tucson only makes sense if it's regularly plugged in and driven on electric power, though . Other plug-in hybrid compact SUV rivals include the Kia Sportage PHEV, Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid, and Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. What's New We don't expect major changes to the 2026 Tucson PHEV after a big 2025. Last model year, the Hyundai scored styling and tech updates that consisted of a new center console and dash with curved screen display, larger touchscreen, standard wireless phone mirroring, and driver-adjustable regenerative braking. What We Think Although it's not for everyone, we appreciate the Tucson lineup's eye-catching, modern exterior design. The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid offers a driving experience that's competent and enjoyable, though it doesn't quite match the performance benchmarks set by some competitors. Standard all-wheel drive adds confidence with planted handling. The Tucson PHEV is a well-rounded option with strong value and a spacious cabin, but iwe strongly suggest considering the Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid, as well. MotorTrend Tested The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid features a 1.6-liter turbo-four and six-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor, akin to the Tucson Hybrid. Unlike the standard hybrid, the PHEV gets a larger-capacity 13.8-kWh battery (instead of the Hybrid's 1.49-kWh battery) and charge port. Powertrain output is rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, and these Tucson variants are offered only with all-wheel drive. We launched a same-generation 2022 Limited model to 60 mph in as little as 7.1 seconds, making the PHEV the quickest Tucson, 0.7 second quicker than the hybrid and 2.2 seconds quicker than the gas version. It has some ground to make up to catch the more powerful RAV4 PHEV, however, which can cover the same ground in under six seconds. MPGs, Range, and Charging The mechanically identical 2025 Tucson Plug-In Hybrid rgets 32 miles of all-electric range. This year's ratings should be similar. There's more cargo capacity in the Toyota, though. The 2025 RAV4 represents the last of the previous model; a new RAV4 with a similar interior makes its debut for 2026. Technology Every Tucson PHEV features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, a wireless phone charger, and a foursome of USB ports, two front and two rear. A 12.3-inch touchscreen and heated front seats come with the base model; the upgrade unlocks ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a 12.3-inch driver display.
