Horse Tracks: Broncos rumored to be in line for London game in 2025

Yahoo17-05-2025

Tis the season for schedule release. Many fans don't really care about the schedule release date, but it has always been one of my most favorite annual events. All of the nonsense predictions and projections... what else you going to do in mid-May? I love it.
The first real rumor leaking a potential game for the Denver Broncos came from an account that was about spot-on for the last season years, so I tend to think this is likely going to be confirmed on Tuesday when International games are officially announced. He has the Denver Broncos playing an away game in London against the New York Jets on October 12, 2025 in Week 6.

On paper, this would be a game the Broncos should win if they have hopes to be a contender in the AFC next season. Nothing is a gimmie in the NFL, but the Jets are not a team many expect to win more than a handful of games next season. And if I need to get up at 6am on a Sunday, the Broncos better win is all I have to say.
We are tracking all the rumors and news related to schedule leaks this weekend and into next week. We have our list of rumor-mill type accounts that tend to be confirmed after the fact, but if we get duped by a fake account it happens. Though not as much as it once did.
As for official announcements, the NFL is stringing this out and milking every second of the schedule being released. There is a full slate of announcements coming early next week ahead of the official full schedule drop.

Teammate says Bo Nix's ‘dawg mentality' has been apparent this offseason

Bo Nix has that dawg in him. Going into his second season as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, Nix has clearly grown into his role as a leader, and he's been fiery at practice, chirping back and forth with the team's defensive backs. 'I love that," safety Brandon Jones said on June 10. "I never wanted to be somewhere where a quarterback is kind of shy or to himself. I think if a quarterback can show that 'dawg' mentality, that goes a long ways for me and it keeps us battling. It keeps the competition super healthy and very competitive. I've liked what I've seen from him in that standpoint.' Nix, 25, was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns. He is now more comfortable going into Year 2, and it's noticeable on and off the field. 'I have, and I've seen his overall comfort level on the field," Jones said when asked if he's seen Nix step into more of a leadership role this year. "You can see he's doing a really good job of trying to diagnose the defense, which goes a super long way especially as a quarterback. "A lot of young quarterbacks kind of struggle with that early on. He's done a really good job of dissecting the defense, and figuring out what we are playing and making the right checks that he needs to make. He's definitely made a lot of strides.' All signs point to Nix taking another step forward in 2025 after an impressive rookie campaign in 2024. Denver's offense appears to be in good hands. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Broncos roster: Evan Engram (No. 1) adds 'Joker' to offense

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at ninth-year tight end Evan Engram, No. 1. Before the Broncos: Engram (6-3, 240 pounds) entered the league as a first-round pick out of Ole Miss with the New York Giants in 2017. He spent the first five years of his career in New York, hauling in 262 receptions for 2,828 yards and 16 touchdowns in 65 games. After a somewhat down year in 2021, Engram signed a one-year, prove-it deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022. He then totaled 73 receptions for 766 yards and four scores in his first year in Jacksonville and was rewarded with a three-year extension. Advertisement Engram had the best season of his career with the Jaguars in 2023, earning his second career Pro Bowl selection after totaling 114 receptions for 963 yards and four touchdowns. He was then limited to nine games in 2024 due to injury. Jacksonville cut Engram in March to save salary cap space. Broncos tenure: Denver coach Sean Payton spoke about adding a "Joker" to his offense this spring, and when Engram became available, it was clear that he was a perfect fit for the role. After signing a two-year deal in March, Engram will make his Bronco debut this fall. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Lock. Engram will make the team as Denver's No. 1 receiving threat at tight end. Engram will help Payton create mismatches in the offense's favor, and he'll likely emerge as a favorite target of second-year quarterback Bo Nix in 2025. Sean Payton jokes about RJ Harvey's quest for 'Joker wings'

Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton made it no secret this spring that he was going into the offseason seeking at least one "Joker" for the offense. Payton described that role as a tight end or running back with exceptional receiving skills to create mismatches for the offense. Denver found a free agent tight end who fits the role in Evan Engram. It's to-be-determined if they also landed a "Joker" running back. Advertisement Denver used its second-round pick in the NFL draft to select UCF running back RJ Harvey, who had 20 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns with the Knights last fall. Harvey was not used extensively as a receiver out of the backfield in college, but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't capable of such a role. Still, Payton isn't ready to hand out any special names for Harvey's role just yet. "Good," Payton said when asked how Harvey has looked as a receiver out of the backfield. "He's doing well. We haven't given him his Joker wings or any of that yet, but he's doing well.' We'll get a better idea of Harvey's receiving threat when the pads come on later this summer and the Broncos begin playing preseason games. Payton has previously hinted that Harvey can be a three-down back, which suggests the rookie will have a role in the passing game. How big of a role remains to be seen.
