Packaged in the k0rdent Application Catalog, the integrations speed implementations and simplify operations of cloud-native and AI workloads
LONDON, March 26, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KUBECON--Mirantis, a leader in open-source cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, today announced the k0rdent Application Catalog – with 19 validated infrastructure and software integrations that empower platform engineers to accelerate the delivery of cloud-native and AI workloads wherever they need to be deployed.
The integrations are used for deploying Kubernetes clusters with open source k0rdent in data centers and on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, VMware vSphere, as well as other popular software programs used in Kubernetes deployments for cloud-native AI workloads.
Launched last month, k0rdent has already gained traction in building an ecosystem of partners that include cloud and service providers, as well as popular open source software. k0rdent helps platform engineers manage infrastructure sprawl and operational complexity across infrastructure. It simplifies maintenance across cloud service providers and on-premises infrastructure with declarative automation, centralized policy enforcement, and production-ready templates optimized for modern workloads. k0rdent leverages the open source Cluster API so that Kubernetes clusters can be created – and existing clusters can be managed – anywhere.
"By providing a central control point across infrastructure, k0rdent has attracted a growing ecosystem, facilitating deployment of cloud-native and AI workloads with greater agility, efficiency, and control," said Randy Bias, vice president of open source strategy and technology at Mirantis. "k0rdent streamlines platform engineering for AI workloads at scale, using Kubernetes to enable extensibility, customizability, and scalability of AI infrastructure. Plus, it helps optimize inference workloads by dynamically allocating compute resources where they are needed most, from centralized data centers to the far edge."
The growing catalog of integrations and templates is now available and continuously updated to ensure platform teams have access to the latest tools and technologies for managing cloud-native AI workloads. The catalog includes validated services, and templates to facilitate deployment, and make it easy to integrate complementary technologies into Kubernetes clusters.
The catalog includes networking and security solutions such as Ingress-NGINX for load balancing, Calico for networking and security, and Istio for service mesh capabilities. Plus, integrations with storage technologies like NetApp's Trident CSI help optimize data management, while policy enforcement tools such as Kyverno enable Kubernetes-native governance and compliance. Additionally, the catalog offers continuous delivery and monitoring tools, including ArgoCD for declarative, GitOps-driven application deployment and OpenCost for cloud cost monitoring, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
For more information, view the k0rdent Getting Started Docs and software downloads that are available on GitHub. To get added to the catalog, submit the request to GitHub. To see what the partners are saying, go here.

From Cognitive Debt To Cognitive Dividend: 4 Factors

Benjamin Franklin portrait and light bulbs idea concept on white background When an eye-catching (not yet peer reviewed) MIT Media Lab paper — Your Brain on ChatGPT — landed this month, the headline sounded almost playful. The data are anything but. Over four months, students who leaned on a large-language model to draft SAT-style essays showed the weakest neural connectivity, lowest memory recall, and flattest writing style of three comparison groups. The authors dub this hidden cost cognitive debt: each time we let a machine think for us, natural intelligence quietly pays interest. Is it time to quit the AI train while we still can, or this the moment to adopt a more thoughtful yet pragmatic alternative to blind offloading? We can deliberately offset cognitive debt with intentional mental effort, switching between solo thinking and AI-assisted modes to stretch neural networks rather than letting them atrophy. Drawing from insights into physiology, this might be the moment to adopt a cognitive high-intensity interval training. To get started think in terms of four sequential guardrails, the 4 A-Factors — that convert short-term convenience into the long-term dividend of hybrid Intelligence:. Attitude: Set The Motive Before You Type (Or Vibe Code) Mindset shapes outcome. In a company memo published on 17 June 2025, Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy urged employees to 'be curious about AI, educate yourself, attend workshops, and experiment whenever you can'. Curiosity can frame the system as a colleague rather than a cognitive crutch. Before opening a prompt window, write one sentence that explains why you are calling on the model, for example, 'I am using the chatbot to prototype ideas that I will refine myself.' The pause anchors ownership. Managers can reinforce that habit by rewriting briefs: swap verbs such as generate or replace for verbs that imply collaboration like co-design or stress-test. Meetings that begin with a shared intention end with fewer rewrites and stronger ideas. Approach: Align Aspirations, Actions And Algorithms Technology always follows incentives. If we measure only speed or click-through, that is what machines will maximize, often at the expense of originality or empathy. It does not have to be an either-or equation. MIT Sloan research on complementary capabilities highlights that pattern recognition is silicon's strength while judgment and ethics remain ours. Teams therefore need a habit of alignment. First, trace how a desired human outcome, i.e. say, customer trust, translates into day-to-day actions such as transparent messaging. Then confirm that the optimization targets inside the model rewards those very actions, not merely throughput. When aspirations, actions, and algorithms pull in one direction, humans stay in the loop where values matter and machines are tailored with a prosocial intention to accelerate what we value. Ability: Build Double Literacy Tools do not level the playing field; they raise the ceiling for those who can question them. An EY Responsible AI Pulse survey released in June 2025 reported that fewer than one-third of C-suite leaders feel highly confident that their governance frameworks can spot hidden model errors. Meanwhile an Accenture study shows that ninety-two per cent of leaders consider generative AI essential to business reinvention. The gap is interesting. Closing it requires double literacy: fluency in interpersonal, human interplays and machine logic. On the technical side, managers should know how to read a model card, notice spurious correlations, and ask for confidence intervals. On the human side, they must predict how a redesigned workflow changes trust, autonomy, or diversity of thought. Promotions and pay should reward people who speak both languages, because the future belongs to translators, not spectators. Ambition: Scale Humans Up, Not Out The goal is not to squeeze people out but to stretch what people can do. MIT Sloan's Ideas Made to Matter recently profiled emerging 'hybrid intelligence' systems that amplify and augment human capability rather than replace it.. Ambition reframes metrics. Instead of chasing ten-per-cent efficiencies, design for ten-fold creativity. Include indicators such as learning velocity, cross-domain experimentation, and employee agency alongside traditional return on investment. When a firm treats AI as a catalyst for human ingenuity, the dividend compounds: faster product cycles, richer talent pipelines, and reputational lift. 4 Quick Takeaways Attitude → Write the 'why' before the prompt; the pause keeps you in charge. Approach → Harmonize values and tools; adjust the tool when it drifts away from the values you believe in, as a human, offline. Not the other way → Learn to challenge numbers and narratives; double literacy begins with you. Ambition → Audit metrics quarterly to be sure they elevate human potential. Cognitive Debt Is Not Destiny Attitude steers intention, approach ties goals to code, ability equips people to question what the code does, and ambition keeps the whole endeavor pointed at humane progress. Run every digital engagement through the 4 A factor grid and yesterday's mental mortgage turns into tomorrow's dividend in creativity, compassion and shared humanistic value for all stakeholders.

The owners of 425 Fifth Avenue, aka 10 Bryant Park between East 39th and 40th streets, landed another big catch at their tower where Amazon recently signed for 330,000 square feet — and it all started with a game of pickleball. In one of Manhattan's largest retail-space deals this year, burgeoning 'athletic urban country club' Life Time signed for 52,000 square feet on four levels, including in the soon to be vacated, 17,000 square-foot Staples store. It will open in early 2027 behind a prominent Fifth Avenue entrance. The Life Time deal all but completes the leasing picture at the 865,000 address, which consists of three formerly separate structures that include the 10-story Knox Building. Chief property development officer Parham Javaheri said 10 Bryant Park checked all the boxes for what he wanted in Midtown. 'We want to serve both our residential and commercial cores,' he said. 'Although the location is obviously more commercial, there's a lot of residential growth nearby as well.' Advertisement Life Time, founded by chairman and CEO Bahram Akradi, has seven other Manhattan locations, two in Brooklyn, and another coming at the supertall Brooklyn Tower condo project. Javaheri said, 'We want to grow methodically. Meaning, we want destinations that let us stay true to what Life Time is, and they require a lot of space.' In fact, several others in the city are even larger than at 10 Bryant Park with 80,000 square feet each. The 10 Bryant Park edition will boast a luxurious, co-ed 'wet' suite with steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs and cold plunges; a workout floor with best-in-class cardio and resistance-training equipment; a recovery space with massage chairs and body-compression technology; and a half-dozen boutique-style studios for group fitness formats. 4 A rendering of the Life Time athletic club location at 10 Bryant Park, which is expected to open in early 2027. LIFE TIME Advertisement Eli Elefant, CEO of 10 Bryant Park landlord Property & Building Corp., said, 'We had the privilege or repositioning the building in a post-Covid world. It gave us the ability to reimagine what a commercial building can look like in a challenging environment.' Elefant said, 'When we lost our big bank tenant, HSBC, we got all their antiquated space back. Our thought was to lean heavily into the tech sphere and market the former bank space to big users and we were ultimately successful.' With the Amazon deal, the 30-story tower's office floors are 100% leased. What he called a 'blank slate' after HSBC decided to move to The Spiral in Hudson Yards also suggested the need to deliver what Amazon and many other 21st Century tenants want: a spectacular 'wellness' amenity. 'We didn't just want to build a gym,' Elefant chuckled. 4 Eli Elefant, center, the CEO of 10 Bryant Park owner Property & Building Corp., and Life Time chief property development officer Parham Javaheri, right, bonded over their vision during a pickleball game. LIFE TIME Advertisement Introduced by brokers, he and Javaheri first met on Oct. 17, 2023. 'We talked about a lifestyle-physical concept,' Elefant said. 'I said, 'Why don't we meet for a workout?'' Javaheri recalled, 'We played pickleball at 1 Penn and at Sky on West 42nd Street. Eli told us what his vision was for a strong amenity. We formed a good friendship.' 4 A rendering of the interior of the announced Life Time athletic club at 10 Bryant Park. LIFE TIME The competition 'was a great way for him to humiliate me,' Elefant laughed. 'But I'm a firm believed in personal synergies' in a changed real estate market that needs to be 'less sharp-elbows than collaborative, although I'm not sure everyone got the message.' Atlantic Retail's Joe Mastromonaco represented Life Time and JLL's Patrick Smith acted for the ownership. Property & Building's parent company owns 14 million square feet of buildings in Israel, but 10 Bryant Park is the only one in New York it wholly owns although it has discreet investments at others.

AI's Biggest Threat: Young People Who Can't Think

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy caused a stir last week with a memo to his employees warning that artificial intelligence could displace them. 'We will need fewer people doing some of the jobs that are being done today, and more people doing other types of jobs,' he wrote. Nothing in his memo was shocking. Technological advances as far back as the printing press have eliminated some jobs while creating many others. The real danger is that excessive reliance on AI could spawn a generation of brainless young people unequipped for the jobs of the future because they have never learned to think creatively or critically.
