Sergio Conceicao leaves AC Milan after just 6 months, Allegri tipped to return to club

AC Milan have parted ways with manager Sergio Conceicao after just six months in charge.

The Portuguese coach took over from Paulo Fonseca in December and lifted the Italian Super Cup in just his second game with the club, beating rivals Inter in Saudi Arabia.
But the chance of more silverware disappeared with defeat to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final and an eighth-place finish in Serie A left them without European football next season.
A brief statement read: 'AC Milan and Sergio Conceicao will not continue their journey together next season.
'The club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the first team over the past few months. The AC Milan family parts with the coach who won the 50th trophy in the club's history, wishing him the best for the future.'

Reports in Italy suggest Massimiliano Allegri could be in line to return to the San Siro, having previously led the Rossoneri between 2010 and 2014.

F-47's loyal wingmen drones ‘huge deal' for US 6th-gen air dominance programme

Full-scale models of the autonomous drones intended to serve alongside the US Air Force's sixth-generation fighter jets were on display at the Paris Air Show this week, with an official from one maker confirming their development was focused on the Indo-Pacific. Advertisement Jackson Lingane, communications manager at Anduril Industries – a major supplier of unmanned platforms to the US Air Force – said that once commissioned, its YFQ-44 known as Fury, was likely to be deployed in flashpoints that included the Taiwan Strait. '[The US Air Force] has been very transparent, it is focused on Indo-Pacific fights,' he said. 'One of the reasons Anduril Industries is here at the Paris Air Show is we think the science and shape applied in Fury also has a lot of application for European allies.' The YFQ-44 is included in the Increment 1 package of weapons for the F-47 sixth-generation fighter jet and its collaborative combat aircraft (CCA) drones that are in development as part of the US Air Force's next-generation air dominance (NGAD) programme. At the General Atomics booth, another full-scale model was on display – of its YFQ-42A drone that is also part of the NGAD's Increment 1 programme. Advertisement

Chinese and EU trade officials hold talks after von der Leyen outburst

Chinese commerce minister Wang Wentao and European trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic held a video call on Thursday, as the two sides strive to keep a lid on simmering economic tensions and pave the way for a leaders' summit in Beijing. Advertisement 'Both sides agreed to work together to lay the groundwork for key economic and trade items on the China-EU agenda this year,' the Ministry of Commerce said in an online statement released on Friday. The two officials discussed a series of topics during the call, including export controls, market access, and the European Union's tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles , it added. The call came just days after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a hawkish critique of China during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada on Monday. During a session on the global economy at the G7 summit, which was also attended by US President Donald Trump, von der Leyen accused Beijing of offering 'massive subsidies with the aim to dominate manufacturing and supply chains', calling it a 'distortion with intent'. Advertisement She also raised concerns over China's industrial overcapacity and accused Beijing of 'weaponising' its dominant position in the rare earth supply chain to 'undermine competitors in key industries'.

For the 2025 edition of the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards, the annual event was held for the first time in Italy, at the historic Auditorium Giovanni Agnelli at the Lingotto Fiere exhibition centre in Turin. Maido, a Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese) fine-dining spot in Lima helmed by chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura, took home the top honour. The restaurant is no stranger to accolades from the 50 Best universe, having received top ranking four times on the Latin America edition of the list. 'I dream of making people happy,' said a visibly emotional Tsumura when taking to the stage. 'I think hospitality can do amazing things. They can make dreams come true, they can solve most problems that you think cannot be solved. I think that we should be an example for the world of what can be done and how we can bring things together with the power of food.'
